Huh. Sounds like something to get. Re: [Audyssey] the vi-fit project
The sword fighting game is packed neatly away in wii sports resort, the sequal to wii sports. Conveniently, the directional pad works in sports resort, but it does require the wii motion plus accessory to more accurately sense your movements, and some games use the nun-chuck controller. On the whole, sports resort is way better than wii sports. The sword fighting is one of the better simulations I've seen, even if it's a little silly. Partially, it's my training, but I've made it into pro class fairly easily. Besides sword fighting, there's cycling. It requires the nun-chuck, and you use the controllers like the pedals of a bike, moving them up and down alternating the position of each. You lean the controllers to stear. The best part of that one is that it keeps you on the track for the most part. Bowling and golf are pretty standard to wii sports, but bowling unlocks a nifty mode with 100 pins. Table tennis works like wii sports tennis. If you understand the rhythm and don't mind losing sometimes, you'll be ok. There's a frisbee game that's kind of fun, but it requires a little more sighted assistance. I tried power cruising, which is apparently kneeling or standing on a sort of wake board with a motor attached. It's hard and pretty much unplaable to us, even with sighted assistance. I've only barely touched the air sports stuff, flying a plane, sky diving, etc. That also seems to be a little out of our league. I haven't tried a couple of other things like archery and basketball, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple of things, but every sport has stuff to unlock, so it's worth the time and effort. Frankly, I'm glad to see the vi-fit stuff, because it's a start, but I do hope that people keep it up, so that we can have games that rock just as much as all the stuff I've just talked about. But as anyone who has tried Wii Sports knows, sighted assistance is generally required to play these games with much accuracy. The Vi Fit project seeks to change this. Using the Wii Remote and a computer with Bluetooth support, blind participants can play two free games Vi Bowling and Vi Tennis, accessible versions based on their Wii Sports counterparts. According to the VI Fit website, "Lack of physical activity is a serious health concern for individuals who are visually impaired as they have fewer opportunities and incentives to engage in physical activities that provide the amounts and kinds of stimulation sufficient to maintain adequate fitness and to support a healthy standard of living." The project, the brainchild of students at the University of Nevada at Reno, plans on producing more games in the coming months. The titles are free and can be downloaded now. so if we can use wii controllers with our computers that sounds very cool! maybe using nintendo wi controllers can be added to the bgt toolkit. true josh. however I am not going out just to buy a wiemote for one or 2 games that use it. I do have bluetooth but honestly havn't bothered using it even with devices that run it. its tied in with my wireless card and to have wireless on when not needing it on the wlan is a bit risky just for the bluetooth which I don't use. I have a force ffb stick here that I got back in the day when we were supposed to be using it. I didn't and its languishing in a dusty corner. not that I could have anything else here anyway. with the 2 storage drives, my laptop, mic, cds and a load of other things here using space on the desk there is just no room for any extra things like gaming devices. I have a fouse which works for railracer here which was only 30 odd bucks however thats all. So other than the keyboard and mouse I don't really think I can fit anymore on this here desk. at any rate I am trying to get my life away from the gaming community. ie get a job or something. As you may imagine although I will still stay here and play games I really don't want to buy more than is necessary to play games, its not a fulltime thing. VI Fit Project Brings Accessible Bowling, Tennis Games Similar to Nintendo WII The Nintendo Wii has allowed for the creation of a new breed of video games which require players to use physical motion to compete. Re: [Audyssey] the vi-fit project
I have downloaded this game and well I have had windows 7 crash both games so far but I will try to run as administrator and report back. It looks pretty cool. It is easy to set up and easy to get going. -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of Thomas Ward Sent: Friday, June 04, 2010 11:49 AM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] the vi-fit project Hi, The Nintendo Wii is a game console.
