Sorry, but there is no way I could enjoy this game. scUM sends a bunch of freshmen into The Swamp, and they play us almost even most of the way. I couldn't even breathe until it became 16 - 3. Our high octane offense looked positively sick until the fourth quarter, and our Heisman Trophy winning quarterback -- his fault or not -- looked tentative and unsure. Is this the way we are going to play versus the SEC? If so, it is going to be a long and frustrating season. We looked incredibly mediocre tonight. Go Gators Ken B. I agree...and our high octane offensive talent is not being utilized properly at all. I am not totally impressed at all, I am just happy to be a winner against the scUM at last (I haven't experienced a win against them since I came to the US in 1991!!!) -BadMan On Sat, Sep 6, 2008 at 11:35 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Sorry, but there is no way I could enjoy this game. scUM sends a bunch of freshmen into The Swamp, and they play us almost even most of the way. That's what I was saying after last week! We'll be 8-5 this year. and to make matters worse... UGA is gonna pummel us. The defense does seem to be coming along and we did have MUCH fewer penalties. and I think like they were saying during the game.. maybe this team needed a lil bit of a wake up call.I think they all had a bit of high heads goin into this. they need to be knocked on their behinds. which you would have THOUGHT THEY WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AFTER THE FIRST QUARTER LAST WEEK. People are finding ways to move the ball on us. and that's bad.. very very bad. Its gonna be a long. long. LONNN year UN-$#%#*($#-ACCEPTABLE Oh they are gonna hate me at work next week. They will wish they had let me telecommute now I don't know what to think. I wish I could just be happy we beat them. But knowing what they are capable of makes it difficult. [gatortalk] Re: 23 point game...
This game was remarkably similar to the 03 game in Miami. We had them beat there, but Brock brought them back to win late. I think the team came out thinking this was going to be easy. The fans thought it was going to be easy, very little energy in the stadium. And give UM credit, they had a great gameplan and didn't allow their QBs to make mistakes, lots of short passes and no possibility of an interception. Me thinks that we are too spoiled if you aren't happy with a 23 point win in a rivalry game. Our D played well and we made decent adjustments at halftime on both O and D. I am frustrated at the lack of crossing routes and basically not giving Hernandez a look all night. And where is Moody? Moore can't do it and Rainey is just too small to run between the tackles. Overall, I am very pleased, never thought we would lose and am happy as all get out that Urban went for the FG in the final minute. Take that back to S. Contrary to what all of the publicity said, Miami only started 2 freshmen on offense and 2 on defense. They have 14 total listed in their depth chart and 4 of them are redshirt freshmen. Check out this link to their depth chart if you would like to. http://miami.rivals.com/cdepthtext.asp We have 11 freshmen listed in our two deep and quite frankly most of our experience is just one year older. remember last year when we 18 freshmen in our two deep??? We are still a young football team other than our 3 senior on the OL. [gatortalk] Re: 23 point game...
I think we should put this game in perspective. You're right that Miami isn't a young team. Miami is a good team. It is a talented team. They have a lot of team speed, just like any Florida team. They recruited very well last year. And our crappy defense allowed them 140 TOTAL yards of offense!!! That's not bad. They scored 3 points!!! We now have a good pass defense, which was severly lacking last year. We also have a pretty darned good defensive line. Jermain Cunningham had 9 tackles tonight! The other DE was almost equally impressive. And, they had 56 yards passing. Not bad for a questionable secondary. We scored 26 points against a very good, fast Miami defense. We beat the spread!!! Before the game we were all worried that we might not win and we beat the spread. Remember the 2006 season? What about this team looks different than that team? Nothing. This is the typical Urban Meyer coached team. We're all going to worry all season as we win all our games and we're going to the BCS bowl and win again.
