Leon,

Where do you stay in the RV when you go to Starkville? I have been to all
the SEC stadiums except Starkville, Nashville and Fayetteville. Going to
each stadium in the SEC is on my "bucket list". A pretty worthwhile goal,
if you ask me or even if you don't ask me. I want to do an SEC tour in an
RV one fall too. Maybe all the GatorTalkers could plan an RV SEC tour.
Leon, would you be our point man?

Im too afraid to say it. lol But we cannot afford ANY slip ups.

We are playing in Mississippi yet again.. and that always spells trouble for
some stupid reason. Ill be talking to my doctor (who will understand since
he's a Gator too) about some Valium for that game. I think we are
underestimating Tennessee some even though I hope they beat their hillbilly
behinds 150-0 and yes I am still doin my countdown. We're at LSU and dont
think they dont have a LOT of motivation after we destroyed them...
Georgia... can never underestimate them especially when they are really
under the radar. Arkansas (a game Ill be at)... will probably be better..

Aside from maybe two teams... all our other opponents we should do fine
against... but they cant fall asleep. I will say this though.. I feel
pretty confident... that Meyer and Tebow... will make sure they dont
underestimate anyone this go around. And because of that reason... I know
what I want to say for my prediction... but Im too afraid to say it.

Key game: Oct. 31 vs. Georgia. Watch out. Georgia is really, really good,
better than last year good, and it has the potential to pull off the win in
the heated rivalry by using its great offensive line to slug the Gators in
the mouth. Florida can lose at LSU on October 10 and still accomplish its
national title goal, but it might not be able to get to Pasadena if it loses
to the Dawgs.

Really? I am sure Oliver's got an opinion here!

It was Paula and my 25th anniversary trip. It was a memorable one. On our
anniversary we hiked to Abrahms Falls in Cades Cove. About a mile into the
trail we encountered a large male bear who entered the trail and began to
walk toward us about 40 yards ahead. I blew my whistle and he headed down
into Abrahms Creek and disappeared like a good bear into the woods. How did
that song go? 'Don't go into the woods today, you'd be in for a big
surprise.' Just before reaching the falls I fell off the trail and held
onto a small rhododendron bush until Paula could pull me up and save my
life. This has become one of her new roles, lately. Anyway, we had lunch
at the falls and then drove into Gatlinburg for a dinner of steak and
mountain trout at the Black Bear Grill overlooking a stream. We both signed
up for 25 more.

Things are spiraling out of control. I think I have become lost in a world
of electronic madness.

One of my sons informed me this week that my cell phone has become obsolete
and I must head down to the Cell Phone store and get a phone that is
contemporary with the time.

I pointed out that the fancy Razor/Slim line phone with camera built in that
he made me trade my perfectly good flip-top Motorola cell phone for two
years ago still works perfectly fine.. Well, except for the camera thing.
Never could figure that out.. Even the few times I actually did take
pictures I couldn't figure what to do with them and gave up.

That is except when I would push the wrong button and take a video of the
ceiling or my feet.

Seems the issue is that I am unable to text with the tiny little 3 character
buttons. "Hi, son," would come out looking like, "Gh Qmo." My grandkids
have even spoken to my wife about Poppa's crazy text messages. Give me a
break. Whatever happened to actually talking on a phone? Isn't that what
they were invented for?

They want me to get one of those phones that you can turn upside down and
sideways and has a typewriter keyboard with keys about one-eighth the size
of my pinky finger.

One of my four sons is a realtor whose real occupation is fly fishing. "Way
to go, son."

Or in my text language, "Xbz um Io, rmo."

We were floating the Yakima River in his guide quality drift boat south of
Ellensburg , Washington . We were miles from anything remotely resembling
civilization. Rock canyon walls were on either side of us. Bear with me as I
try to explain this strange thing.

His "Blackberry" rang. It was blue and I asked him why it wasn't called a
Blueberry. He shook his head with that "dealing with an elder" despair look
I get a lot these days. It was another realtor who called to say that the
sellers he represented had agreed to my son's client's changes and he had
the signed documents in hand.

My son told him to FAX the papers to his office and he would get them signed
and Faxed back, to close the deal that morning. A minute later the phone
rang and he hit a few buttons and looked over the FAX, now on theYakima
River with us.

He then called his clients and told them he was Faxing the papers to them to
sign and asked them to FAX them back to his office. While he was waiting, he
hooked into a fat rainbow and was just releasing this 22 inch beauty as his
phone rang again with the signed FAX from his clients.

He called the other realtor and told him he was sending the signed papers
back by FAX. The deal was closed. He smiled and just said, "You are a little
behind the times, Dad." I guess I am.

I thought about the sixty million dollar a year business I ran with 1800
employees, all without a Blackberry that played music, took videos, pictures
and communicated with Facebook and Twitter.

I signed up under duress for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids, their
spouse, 13 grandkids and 2 great grand kids could communicate with me in the
modern way. I figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with
only 140 characters of space.

That was before one of my grandkids hooked me up for Tweeter, Tweetree,
Twhirl, Twitterfon, Tweetie and Twittererific Tweetdeck, Twitpix and
something that sends every message to my cell phone and every other program
within the texting world.

My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything
except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not ready to
live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag.

The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost
every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep that
in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it's red] phone I am
supposed to use when I drive. I wore it once and was standing in line at
Barnes and Nobles talking to my wife as everyone in the nearest 50 yards was
glaring at me. Seems I have to take my hearing aid out to use it and got a
little loud.

I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside was
the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time. Every 10
minutes, she would sarcastically say, "Re-calc-ul-ating" You would think
that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would
let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light.

I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Nobles talking to my wife as everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. Seems I have to take my hearing aid out to use it and got a little loud.
I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time. Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, "Re-calc-ul-ating" You would think that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then when I would make     a right turn instead, it was not good.
When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as Gypsy, the GSP lady, at least she loves me.
To be perfectly frank, I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven’t figured out how I can lose three phones all at once and have run around digging under chair cushions and checking bathrooms and the dirty laundry baskets when the phone ring.

New Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin invaded Florida last February and
stole a high-profile recruit from the Gators when he talked Pahokee wide
receiver Nu’Keese Richardson out of his UF commitment to sign with the Vols.

That success has compelled Kiffin to try and establish more of a Tennessee

At last week’s SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala., Kiffin said a Tennessee

“There will be a billboard going up there in the next month that I think
you’ll be excited to see, that will give you something to write about that will
help us, too,” Kiffin said.

Kiffin’s comment has spawned a great deal of speculation as to what the

Or will it possibly be taking shots at Urban Meyer and Florida?

Kiffin is being secretive about it.

“I’m not going to give you any more than that,” he said last week. “Got to

Tennessee isn’t the only SEC football program putting up billboards. Auburn
is doing the same in Alabama to promote a new era under new coach Gene Chizik.

As for Florida, there are no plans to put up any billboards. Winning two
national championships in the past three years has given the Gators plenty of
exposure.

Could Lane Kiffin's new billboard in south Florida look like this?

New Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin invaded Florida last February and
stole a high-profile recruit from the Gators when he talked Pahokee wide
receiver Nu'Keese Richardson out of his UF commitment to sign with the Vols.

That success has compelled Kiffin to try and establish more of a Tennessee

"There will be a billboard going up there in the next month that I think
you'll be excited to see, that will give you something to write about that

Kiffin's comment has spawned a great deal of speculation as to what the

Will it be promoting UT football?

Or will it possibly be taking shots at Urban Meyer and Florida?

Kiffin is being secretive about it.

"I'm not going to give you any more than that," he said last week. "Got to

Tennessee isn't the only SEC football program putting up billboards. Auburn

As for Florida, there are no plans to put up any billboards. Winning two
national championships in the past three years has given the Gators plenty
of exposure.

Yes, Oliver, you are right. Contact the UF Alumni Association and they will
help you set up a Start Up meeting. All she has to do is agree to host the
meeting, find a place that will host the Peoria club where they can watch
games, and the UF Alum Asso will send out invites to Gator grads in the area
and BEHOLD: a new gator club will emerge.

Same for everyone else who reads this. BTW, the official sites for Gator

Another thought came to me. She should set up a website for a local gator
club - facebook, meetup, her own website - whatever. then go have business
cards printed with her name, email, website URL and Des Moines Gator Club on
it. Then carry the cards with her at all times to hand out to people that
are interested, whenever she sees someone wearing a gator shirt or hat. She
can also wear her gator shirt/hat a lot and hand out cards then also.

I think if she contacts the local sports bars first - she might find an
existing gator club.

Could Lane Kiffin's new billboard in south Florida look like this?

By Robbie Andreu
Gainesville SUN Staff writer

Published: Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 6:28 p.m.
Last Modified: Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 6:28 p.m.

New Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin invaded Florida last February and
stole a high-profile recruit from the Gators when he talked Pahokee wide
receiver Nu’Keese Richardson out of his UF commitment to sign with the Vols.
That success has compelled Kiffin to try and establish more of a Tennessee
presence in the talent-rich state of Florida.
At last week’s SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala., Kiffin said a Tennessee
billboard will be going up in south Florida in the next few weeks.
“There will be a billboard going up there in the next month that I think
you’ll be excited to see, that will give you something to write about that will
help us, too,” Kiffin said.
Kiffin’s comment has spawned a great deal of speculation as to what the
billboard will say.
Will it be promoting UT football?
Or will it possibly be taking shots at Urban Meyer and Florida?
Kiffin is being secretive about it.
“I’m not going to give you any more than that,” he said last week. “Got to
give you something to look forward to.”
Tennessee isn’t the only SEC football program putting up billboards. Auburn
is doing the same in Alabama to promote a new era under new coach Gene Chizik.
As for Florida, there are no plans to put up any billboards. Winning two
national championships in the past three years has given the Gators plenty of
exposure.

USC-west would be dangerous... that would essentially be a home game for
them.

[gatortalk] RE: [gatornews]_[SUN]:___Kiffin ’s_new_billboard_plan_in _South_Florida

2009-07-30 Thread keith

How about - "If Florida won't take you, you don't mind us pissing you off, making you look foolish, and won't mind
regretting your decision - come on north to tennesse!"

I guess that is too long and truthful.

Kiffin’s new billboard plan

Could Lane Kiffin's new billboard in south Florida look like this?

By Robbie AndreuGainesville SUN Staff writer
Published: Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 6:28 p.m. Last Modified: Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 6:28 p.m.

New Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin invaded Florida last February and stole a high-profile recruit from the Gators when he talked Pahokee wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson out of his UF commitment to sign with the Vols.
That success has compelled Kiffin to try and establish more of a Tennessee presence in the talent-rich state of Florida.
At last week’s SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala., Kiffin said a Tennessee billboard will be going up in south Florida in the next few weeks.
“There will be a billboard going up there in the next month that I think you’ll be excited to see, that will give you something to write about that will help us, too,” Kiffin said.
Kiffin’s comment has spawned a great deal of speculation as to what the billboard will say.
Will it be promoting UT football?
Or will it possibly be taking shots at Urban Meyer and Florida?
Kiffin is being secretive about it.
“I’m not going to give you any more than that,” he said last week. “Got to give you something to look forward to.”
Tennessee isn’t the only SEC football program putting up billboards. Auburn is doing the same in Alabama to promote a new era under new coach Gene Chizik.
As for Florida, there are no plans to put up any billboards. Winning two national championships in the past three years has given the Gators plenty of exposure.
