Obviously that puts a different spin on the situation. If Robey can't go, we may have serious issues at center. It was hinted at in late August. Here is an example: On Aug 26, 2010, at 7:25 AM, Juno Gator wrote: Florida Gators football pre-practice notes from John Brantley by Jason Lieser Quarterback John Brantley met with reporters prior to Wednesday’s practice, which will be half-pads. He was the only one. Here are some notes from what they said: – If injuries force C Mike Pouncey to start at tackle and back-up Sam Robey steps in at center, Brantley is comfortable with that. He said has taken snaps from Robey in practice the past two years and added that Florida has not had any issues with snap handling during the pre-season. Then Robey bursts the bursa in his right elbow, and we see this article: UF offensive line coming together By Robbie Andreu Gainesville SUN Staff writer Published: Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2:06 p.m. Last Modified: Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2:06 p.m. With Florida's top two left offensive tackles out of the opener with injuries, there was speculation earlier in the week that a reshuffled line would see standout center Mike Pouncey moving to tackle. But Pouncey is staying put. I take from this exchange that Robey would have started last Saturday but for his elbow injury, and find it strange that his injury status has never been disclosed. Instead, the press releases have steered the rationale for Pouncey back at Center by focusing on the benefit of putting Wilson on the field as opposed to the possibility that we may not really have a choice right now. -Zeb -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us

Like I said in a previous post, my choice for the starting 5 OL are Nixon/Patchen, Johnson, Robey, Pouncey, Gilbert. Even when Pouncey made a good snap, I thought the OL struggle, Hurt and Halapio were unimpressive on the right side. Getting Nixon and Johnson back this week should stabilize that problem. Based on that, the question will be is Pouncey at center, Hurt at guard better than Robey at center Pouncey at guard. While I believe the coaches would move Pouncey back to guard and put Robey in at center, I think they will give Pouncey one more shot at center. I suspect , however, that it will be a short leash. Re: Re: [gatortalk] Observations
Wow! Even though we had tickets, I couldn't go to the game on Saturday. My son's soccer team, as well as one that I coach from the same club, had a soccer tournament in Sarasota. I was out of the hotel by 8AM each day, and not back until after 9PM. Leslie went to the game and spent time with, our son Shane (he opted out of continuing with the marching band this year). We had agreed to exchange scoring text updates - who would have guessed that I'd be sending more of them? She did let me know about the fumbles and pitiful yardage totals, and by the end of my very long day I think I was convinced that I'd picked a good game to miss! Last night was the first time since Friday afternoon that I had the time and energy to log on to the computer. I could feel the angst while reading all of the real time and post game posts. I haven't decided when or if I will watch the replay. My thoughts: I don't read too much into first game results, good or bad, BUT 13 yards at haltime? Seriously? I have to admit that concerns me. Miami of Ohio had a terrible record last year, but there may have been extenuating circumstances that contributed to that, and I don't know how competitive they were in their losses. They may or may not be better than FAMU, San Jose St., Stony Brook,Samford, etc., but we certainly didn't enjoy the easy win many of our rivals did this past weekend. *IF* the debacle was just a perfect storm of bad luck (injuries, unprecedented center snap troubles, etc) the bad win may be better for our team's focus going forward than an easy win would have been. Bottom line for me - I feel as though this is opening day II coming up this coming Saturday. I have no idea if we're a good, mediocre, or bad team. Stay tuned... -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us

Deonte was being lazy. He didn't go get that ball, he waited for it to drop into his hands. If he goes up to get it, the defender would not have been in a position to grab his arm. Maybe it was interference, but the real problem was pure laziness. oli...@bobparks.com wrote: I still think Deonte's drop in the end zone was caused by an un flagged interference. Yeah, Charlie...I was painfully reminded of the lng Zook years. I watched the UT v UTMartin game last night on PPV (don't ask why) and for a team that is starting 2/3's with little or no experience in college ball AND a new coach...they looked pretty good. My thoughts went to two weeks from now and if we don't correct some of those mistakes..we're in trouble cause believe me, it will be LOUD in Neyland Stadium. And if Brantley/Pouncey can't get it right when there's very little noise (as was the case when Florida Field was half empty by 4th quarter) they'll never be able to pull it off on the 18th. RE: [gatortalk] Observations
Hi is name is Teryl Austin. Just for the record in my book this performance is directly attributable to, if we are looking for a scapegoat, Urban Meyer. When Addazio wanted to shift Pouncey out to tackle last week, obviously the coaching staff knew Carl Johnson (Johnson played some tackle as a freshman) wasn't going to play, it was Meyer who was quoted as saying he wanted Pouncey to remain at center to insure a quality exchange between the center and the quarterback. Ooops! Now I believe Meyer doesn't want to undermine his senior leader, so Pouncey will probably start at center against USF, although I wouldn't be surprised if they made the switch to Robey during this week. However, I would say that Pouncey only has one or two more botched snaps left in him before he goes back to being a guard. He will not be the center at UT if this continues. The timing of this offense is predicated on a clean snap from center, absent a clean snap, we could have Tebow, Emmitt, Wes Chandler, Percy Harvin with Shanahan calling the plays and we would look just as inept as we did yesterday. So Meyer needs to be credited with this one. I have always said that UF head coaches are required annually during the season to take their stupid pill, I hoping Meyer consumed his for this season on Saturday. RE: [gatortalk] Observations
All we heard in the off season is how the offensive line is our strength. How Addazzio is moving them around in case someone gets hurt. These guys are saying moving to other positions is no big deal - because they all know (and have trained at) each position. They have at least eight guys ready to go. Nixon's and Patchan's injuries are not serious and only out a couple of days. I think it was Carl Johnson commented opponents better just come and take their whippin, What I am pissed about is - being told one thing - not being able to see for myself (or have trained reporters report on it) - and then seeing something else that is drastically different. What we saw yesterday is NOTHING like what they were telling us to expect. We were sold an NFL caliber OL. What we saw - was not as good as most high schools. Let's contrast that with the DL. We were told all summer that our DL (especially Des) would be bad, we wouldn't be able to pressure the QB, etc. I saw the opposite. Granted it was Miami of Ohio - but for the first outing they looked much better than advertised. I thought the DL played like the OL was advertised and the OL played like the DL was advertised. * Meet http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20100830/ARTICLES/100829506 the Gators: Offensive Line Coach Steve Addazio says center Mike Pouncey may be the best offensive lineman in the country. I doubt there was anyone more disappointed than Addazio or Meyer who I am sure as they ran out the tunnel to start the game believed that the offensive line would block or the center could snap. However, I will be glad to send an email over the Florida SID and request that all further communications regarding team potential be characterized in the worst possible way so that we only have good surprises when the team exceeds expectations. Thanks, Randy, for the name of the defensive coordinator...couldn't, for the life of me, remember the name :-) And, I agree, coaching is 99% of all mistakes made on the field. We must remember there were quite a few 18/19-year-old freshmen out there yesterday. I'm just gonna keep every part of my anatomy crossed in hopes the mistakes can be coached out of them by next Saturday!! - Original Message - From: Randy Platt pcga...@tampabay.rr.com To: gatortalk@googlegroups.com Sent: Sunday, September 05, 2010 11:42 AM Subject: RE: [gatortalk] Observations Hi is name is Teryl Austin.
