Glad you stepped out on this limb, John. I’ve been lurking on this subject since everyone else is so against him, but I really see no problem. Over the years, we’ve seen lots of successful coordinators who were promoted to HC and flopped. We’ve even seen some successful college coaches who flopped in the NFL. Bottom line is that he is a good (maybe not the best) OC, and I’m cautiously happy that he *might* become a gator. I didn't like Weiss' arrogant and abrasive personality when he was HC at ND, but maybe he's added some humble pie to his diet insert joke here. That being said, he's a proven OC at both collegiate and pro levels, and Coach Muschamp would do well to have someone with that kind of experience running things on that side of the ball. His proven success in the league would likely be very attractive to recruits as well. Initial reaction - akin to Woody's. I hate to disagree with you. One of the things that always amazed me about him at ND was that he consistently had top 5 or top 10 classes, but most of the talent was on offense. His biggest problem at ND was that he had a very weak defense. If he is actually our OC, he may do very well. Even if he did little recruiting, as long as he could put together a winning offense, others can do the recruiting.
