I would say if the person is willing to pay Rs.1000/- will not find it hard to pay Rs.1200/-My personal recommendations are, dont fall into arranging the party on your own (I mean group members arranging everything..and stuff like that ) because if the arrangements are not good, then the same group members would come back to us complaining and cribbing...rather just try to arrange it at a place where price can be minimised and not the contents and quality. All our regular venues were either having their parties or were simply not large enough. Last year's New Year's party had at least 450 before we stopped counting. Many many more had to be turned away (I think I still have the scars from having to refuse two drag queens entry). This year too we've already started getting queries from people from out of town wanting to make their plans to be here, or people from here wanting to make sure they get in. And we couldn't find a place. The few places that fitted our requirements and were willing to consider a party were asking for cover charges of Rs2,000-2,500/- !! It does look like this will be a normal price at many places, but it was not a price we felt we could inflict on the community. Last year we were Rs950/- (still one of the cheapest large organised parties in town) and while we knew an increase is inevitable, beyond a point it doesn't seem fair or feasible to have a party. Some people we've spoken to have suggested an expensive and small party, but that doesn't seem to be what GB is about. That was when we starting thinking that this year perhaps we should skip a party. But thanks to Dee's persistance we now have a possible place. Its large (none of the claustrophobia of Chat Masala last year), a beautiful place and well located near a station, and while it won't come cheap, it is not unreasonable. Against this it is not a regular restaurant or club, which means that we cannot count on an existing management to organise things for us. Everything will have to be hired and organised by GB. This won't be the first time we're doing something like this - the Valentine's party we had on a boar last year was like this. Okay... continuing with my wretched trip in Mumbai... ( My cell is running in negative balance, the company for which I came offered a totally not-for-me profile, and the weather here sucks ) ... I am stuck here for another 36 hours or so ... I didnt listen to my roommate so left my laptop back home, didnt get my books or anything else so am dead bored... and on top of everything, I am in the midst of the company of 6 of my very good friends, who by some strange luck, have all paired within themselves... The entire train ride and the several dinners and luncheons and other moments together, I was surrounded by 3 pairs ... and stood a witness to nth moments of baby talk and adult talk, cuddling and break-thy-neck hitting, why-did-you-smoke-without-telling-me and why-did-you-have-to-tell-the-driver-to-take-left-when-you-didnt-know, disappearing acts into dreamlands/the other persons's eyes, shopping trips, future planning, and countless other acts of couple love... And whats worse... I was there throughout... at times gaining some attention (primarily because its me...).. and at times fading away But it was fun to watch your best of friends so happy... you feel so good that you had been through their entire process of formation (how technical!!!) and had helped in so many ways ... and would one day be there to narrate it to their children ... and it makes it all worthy ... But what hurts is that you have to sit all alone through the entire thing... I dont know but does every true gay guy goes through this process ? I know the married and the bisexuals dont have such feelings.. but I can understand what the gay bottoms must feel (come on... its what we want too.. right) ... you just wish that you too had somebody to spoil you and you to spoil .. Hmmm .. I seem to be talking on the lines of countless movies that have been made on this issue ... single among couples ... but mostly they have ended it all in a happy way ... and so ... lets just wait and watch ... and pick up tricks from my lovey-dovey couple friends ... Shangri-La murder takes a 'gay' turn Shakti Sharma New Delhi, December 13, 2005The mystery behind the murder of a 50- year-old man in the Shangri-La hotel complex in the national capital took an interesting turn on Tuesday with forensic experts suggesting that the victim was a "habitual gay". The body of Vijay Kumar Bhaskar, a telecom manager of Eros Group of companies, which owns the hotel, was found in the office complex behind the hotel building with strangulation marks on his neck on Sunday. The experts, who conducted autopsy on the body told investigators that Bhaskar was 'habitual gay'. Police, who earlier believed that some woman was behind the murder, are now on the look out for some gay friends of the victim. They have already rounded up several of his friends in this connection. According to sources, the person who is being interrogated was a close friend of the victim and both used to make trips to outstation destinations. On Saturday, Bhaskar left for office as usual and was last seen in the office at about 6 pm. Shortly after midnight the assistant manager of Shangri La hotel received a call from his home that Bhaskar had not returned from the office. Following this the security staff went to office and discovered his body lying in the toilet of his office. Bhaskar's body was in semi nude condition and only his mobile phone was found missing. Police has found out that the last call from his mobile was at about 5.35 pm on Saturday and was then switched off. Bhaskar was an employee of Eros Constructions Private Limited Company and was working with Shangri La hotel as a Project Manager - Telephones on contract basis. He was responsible for laying intercom wires, closed circuit TV's in the hotel. This is the second such incident in the national capital. In 2004, the gay murder of Pushkin Chandra rocked Delhi.
