Yes please, save it Klaus, this software has to be continued!! If it is
carefully hosted by you, then further on, new developers should without doubt
get interested - maybe it should be more promoted (with a really nice homepage
or whatever)?

This is such a clean and proper viewer that should be brought further as a
good template how photos should be shown! / Tore

Yes, Klaus, good to hear from you again!

I once comitted a complete Swedish translation (thanks for excellent guidance)
but did never come to merge it into some main master branch being too
unexperience with git.

I would appreciate someone to also marge that translation into the main and
tell if I can help to resolve any conflicts coming up.

And can we have an updated version on Sourceforge sooner or later? This is a
too valuable a software to slumber like that for general users!

This is, in my opinion, the best fast general image viewer ever made!

Re: [Geeqie-devel] Swedish translation

2011-01-25 Thread Tore Ericsson
Hi,

After som Git study ('Pro Git' is a nice and useful book!) I have now pushed
the current Swedish translation to the toer branch on Github.

Now I am prepared to improve more details by gradual stages:

Are there any means for translating standard dialogue button texts, such as
Apply, Close, Cancel, New, Edit, Delete, etc.?

Also, there remain some entries I don't know the precise meaning of, for
example the lines 1550 ("high gain up"), 1554 ("low gain down"), ... etc., and
also 5229 ("Operations on, and display of these files with %s may not succeed.
\n") in the po.sv file. I haven't localised their use -- thus, please explain,
somebody!

The English text seem to be out of order in po.sv lines 5601 and 5606
(utilops.c): I would suggest "Link" as text for 5601 and "Create symlink?" for
5606.

And by the way, when suggestions to improve English texts arise, what would be
the best way to run such issues? How do source text changes actually influence
the translation files?

Regards,

Tore/toer

P.S. Note also this bug: The first cache path in the thumbnail dialogue window
appears having a duplication error (maybe fixed in someones branch?)

Could not translate dialogue button texts, such as Apply, Close, Cancel, New, Edit, Delete, ...

Remains three entries where I don't know the meaning on lines 1550, 1558, and 5229.

The English text seems to be completely out of order on lines 5601 and 5606.

Ok. - Is there a way for me to locally preview (perhaps with sv.mo??) the

Well if I remember right, 'se' should be correct; isn't se_sv and se_fi used
to distinguish the Swedish language practised in Sweden and in Finland,
respectively, when that is important? Anyhow, we don't need such refinements
here!

Found no .pot file, generated geeqie.pot with 'intltool-update -p', OK? Is it
useful?

If a change to 'se' is preferred:
The sv.po may perhaps be reused by making a copy 'se.po' (or using
'Save
as ...' in Poedit?) and adding 'se' into LINGUAS? Next, edit the 'se.po'
according to 'geeqie.pot' - and into the right charset (I would prefer UTF-8
as a universal and my standard).
How/when do we remove the 'sv' version, according to any git-rules? -
Maybe simply delete etc.?

[Geeqie-devel] Geeqie.desktop

2010-12-26 Thread Tore Ericsson
Hi anyone who knows better about Geeqie!

As an old Gqview user I am now adopting Geeqie, a really handsome lightweight
image viewer/editor, 'editor' in the sense that various image modification
functions may be tied to it for simplified everyday image administration!

I am glad to see that it is probably continued. If you do not have translator
already I should have some time to help with the Swedish translation.

Some questions, however. In Gqview, when a script was programmed for
application on selected images, the image file names were fed into the script
(via the right-click menu) as a multi-file argument string, that is the file
names, each separated by a space (if clicked in the thumbnail list with
selection).

Now applying the desktop-file convention for Geeqie, I have succeded to define
custom commands almost as in Gqview, but the script will be executed once for
each image file and not once with the file array argument like was the case
with Gqview.

Question 1: Is there a way to have scripts called in Geeqie in the same way as
in Gqview? The usefullness is really lessened if this is not possible; e.g.
trimming hundreds of pictures etc., which else has to be programmed outside
the viewer with problems to indentify and select the right files, for example.

Question 2: I did add some notes in my .desktop file. Do the agree with what
is currently correct? See below.

The first question refers mostly, I think, to the %f argument or what could
possibly be used instead. And here is an excerpt from my .desktop file:

...
# Call the helper script executable:
# If the executable is missing, this desktop entry will be checked 'Hidden'
# in the Geeqie 'Edit > Preferences > Configure Editors' dialog table.
# You cannot uncheck it but it will not be checked if
# 1. the executable does exist
# 2. there is a Mime type match
# 3. an argument like %f is present
# 4. the category is X-Geeqie
TryExec=myscript
Exec=myscript %f
...

Regards,
Tore

It is still implemented. You can find a menu option if you right click
in the side bar to add your own fields. Also you can drag and drop from
the exif view (ctrl-e).

Thanks Klaus!

But then there seems to be some interaction between Exif and Xmp or ...? Where
can I learn more about that? And drag-and-drop from the Exif window doesn't
work for me (Kubuntu 10.04 LTS "lucid")

[Geeqie-devel] Exif.Image.Copyright

2010-07-05 Thread Tore Ericsson
Hi geeqies!

Glad to see that the gqview will be continued, thanks very much! I have
discovered this project just recently and really appreciate it.

And I also find it perfect that the Exif.Image.Imagedescription is displayed
in the Comment pane of the Info Sidebar, since I use it regularly to store the
image description. Just in order to keep it in the image file.

Just a wish: In order to have another general simple text field for common use
I would find it convenient that also the Exif.Image.Copyright field was
displayed similarly, since it may well be used for most-images-equal
photographer information and similar. I do.

Anyone supposrting my wish?

The copyright field could well be used anyhow, but it is not generally easily
seen in the varying Exif window, for example. Better in the Info sidebar.

Keep in touch!
