Noticed a blank line where sibling pages had a date, so I restored the date
lost in the last commit.
The page as been regenerated.

Looks like there needs to be a check of the build to detect such failings.

It did exist at one point:

And the file is still here:
https://github.com/apache/incubator/blob/master/pages/guides/retirement.ad

So perhaps something is going wrong with the build?

Re: [CANCEL][VOTE] Release Apache Answer(Incubating) v1.2.0-RC1

2023-11-17 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

You’ve cancelled it, but I would have just left it open. The 72-hour period is
a suggestion, and in some cases, if you have a good reason, e.g., an urgent
security issue, you don’t have to wait 72 hours.

Kind Regards,
Justin

Re: Retired podlings not being cleaned up

2023-11-17 Thread Dave Fisher
Please note that retired podlings must never be part of the Attic. The attic is
for projects that were TLPs.

Retired podlings can move to other places depending on the original
contributions. For websites that can mean any number of actions, but it must
never be confused with former TLPs that are in the Attic. It takes a Board
Resolution to discontinue a PMC and move responsibility to the Attic.

Retired podlings are projects that will never become ASF projects. They are not
former ASF projects.

IMO It is intentional that retirement of a podling’s website is unclear.

Best,
Dave

2023-11-17 Thread sebb
It looks like the Wiki retirement banner is controlled from here:

https://github.com/apache/infrastructure-p6/tree/production/modules/cwiki_asf/files/retired_podlings

Perhaps someone from the IPMC could update the relevant instructions.

Re: Retired podlings not being cleaned up

2023-11-17 Thread sebb
There are various steps that the Incubator also has to do.
For example, ensuring the various status files are up to date, and
implementing website redirects.

Unfortunately the retirement guide at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/incubator/RetiringPodlings
is a bit vague on how to perform some of the actions, but a search for
previous retirements in commit messages should give some clues.

They are not on the website anymore so I guess only a few of the required steps
were done. Not sure if I manage this weekend, but if notify else picks it up, I
will check

The Answer vote was not left open for at least 72 hours. That vote
must be reopened and you must wait at least 72 hours from the initial
calling of the vote before announcing a result.
