Dvdrip depends on transcode (0.6.14 for my ~x86 system). Did you manage
to compile this version of transcode? My attempts always end with:
configure: error: error transcode depends on the FFmpeg (libavcodec)
libraries and headers

Yes, I have ffmpeg installed. Any idea?

Re: [gentoo-user] gentoo-list + gmail + evolution = strange behavior

2005-01-22 Thread Klaus Neumann
I switched from kmail to evolution 2.0.3. I am subscribed to this list
once with my gmail account. I poll my gmail account with my local
email client. Now, since I switched to evolution, I get every single
mail from this list twice. Any other email arrives only once. When
looking at my emails with a web browser, I can see they are only once
in my gmail account. First I thought, it has something to do with the
way how this mailing list is set up, but then again, why does it work
perfectly fine in kmail or thunderbird, which I'm using right now?
Evolution seems to be the only email client with this strange
behavior.

[gentoo-user] copying entire partition to new HD

Yes, I did change fstab and lilo.conf, chroot into the new system, and ran

Congratulations . Now how about giving us a step-by-step on how you
did it so others can learn from you.
 lodger

Sorry, you are right!

1) I booted into the old system on hda3
2) I mounted hdb3 on /mnt/gentoo
3) I tarred (with flag -p) everything under /mnt/gentoo into a single file
gentoo.tar, destination: spare partition hda4.
4) I created a new reiserfs on hdb3
5) I untarred everything (again with -p; don't know if this was necessary)
back there.

The directory structure was not exactly what I expected, everything ended up
under /mnt/gentoo/mnt/gentoo, but from this point I just needed to move
everything two levels up. Reboot into the new system, and that's it.

What I actually did was, extracting all files from the new system into a tar
file at a save place, kill the new system and reclaiming the entire space on
hdb3 with mkreiserfs, and then put everything back in place.

I'm writing this email from Win98, which I installed to go online. Of course
it wiped out my lilo. :-(
So, in order to boot Gentoo linux I'm using the installation CD of my
previous SuSE.

I hope someone can tell me how to get out of this mess, without
re-installing everything! TIA!

Cheers,
Klaus
