Check again your configuration of the monitor. If it is correct then you can always give the details for the various screen resolutions using the Modeline option in XF86Config. Another thing you can try is to lower a bit the numbers for the maximun Vertical Refresh and/or the Horizontal Sync in XF86Config. Does anyone have Alpha Centauri running under xfree 4.3? For me it works only under 4.2. There is an installation tool written by some guy and you can find links in both forums. Don't forget to get the special file so that it installs the German version. I haven't tried it (had the game installed on Windows before) and I am not sure how it handles the upgrade that is necessary.
