Apparently Intel made a lot of enhancements to the intel in-kernel
 driver with the 3.14 series.

If/When all else fails, I find the exact version of the chip(s) in
the video hardware. I then go read the comments on the various related video
device drivers in the kernel codes, as the best place to see exactly what is
going on with a given chipset. The past few years have seen many of the
video codes merged into larger collections in a single, unified driver, so
you may have to go back to kernels that correspond to when the linux driver
code first (or soon after) appeared for that chipset..

It's a massive pain the in the wazoo, but, you'd be surprised at what details
often appear in the (legacy) kernel dirver code comments..

good hunting!

After two days of fighting with it, I was able to get it to work.
It seems to me GPT is not compatible with my old BIOS after all. Using MBR and

The fdisk partitioned the /boot partition sda1 starting from 2048 and it worked without any problems.

What kernel are you running? I had this problem initially with my NUC -
I updated to gentoo-sources:3.14.14, enabled the vaapi thread globally,

After that, I am even able to play 1080p with no glitches.

Okay sorry, but with debug logs is often problems to append on emails

Not on this list.
The use to pastebin and picpaste is frowned upon because those
resources disappear, making the emails useless as reference material.

  Lets start by basics:
  1) Which type of printer are you using?

 Multifunction Laser Printer Brother MFC-7320

Had a google on this and found some references which seem to indicate
you need to download and install specific cups-drivers to get this one to
work.

Did you try downloading them from Brother directly?
http://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=gblang=enprod=m

You might be able to convert the following PKGBUILD from Arch Linux to an
Ebuild to get it to work:
https://github.com/rdoursenaud/brother-mfc7320-cups/blob/master/PKGBUILD

  4) Did you restart cups after changing the USE-flag?

The computer does not print over the network. That is strange.

To print over the network, you need to have a network printer configured.

 Cups I've restarted.

ok.

VERY COOL!
Gentoo is worth the effort. Make sure you have backups and some folks build
binary packages for a variety of reason. Don't hesitate to ask for help.
The Gentoo wiki is getting better and better. It's a place for folks to

One thing that does stick out though is the taken literally, your error

So one must now think further out the box. Either the error is
completely wrong and the error handling code is buggy, or the message is
incomplete somehow (eg maybe it's not the module that is not found but
rather a file it references - or something like that).

I recommend your next stop is the nagios user lists.

Okay sorry, but with debug logs is often problems to append on emails

 Not on this list.
The use to pastebin and picpaste is frowned upon because those resources
disappear, making the emails useless as reference material.

Whilst we're on the subject, you've posted a couple of HTML emails the last

This is a bug, probably from upstream, as conftypes.py doesn't have a
shebang at all. You can file a bug at bgo so the maintainer can deal
with it.

Meanwhile, version 1.7.0 (current ~arch) builds and installs cleanly

Can you look in the two files mentioned above to find out what the shebang
looks like?

They ought to start with something like:

#!/usr/bin/python2

If not please file a bug.
