[gentoo-user] Libpng warning

2012-09-19 Thread Fernando Antunes
Hi. I've been receiving a linpng warnong on my console saying that
something like "Application build with libpng.1.2.8 running with
libpng.1.5.4."

Somebody knows how to identify which application is that ?

As far I can remeber, I just removed net.ethX from /etc/init.d and ran
rc-confg add wicd boot.

Inside wicd preference I set wlan0 and eth0 as my network interfaces.

You can do this removing the gtk3 use flag and recompile LO or just set
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN variable as follow. I putted it on env.d directory :

/etc/env.d/99libogui
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk

You can adjust synaptics changing the configuration on the
/etc/hal/fdi/policy/11-x11-synaptics.fdi file.
man 4 synaptic can give you a lot of extra options.

Probally you are using virtualbox greater than 2.1. Just do this :

Networking --->
Networking Options --->
<*> 802.1d Ethernet Bridging

and loaded this three modules. I believe the second one is mandatory to
bridge.
vboxnetadp
vboxnetflt
vboxdrv

When I plug the pen drive on Gentoo, it mount it for my host usage. When I
go to the virtualbox menu usb devices and mark the checkbox for my pen
drive, the pen drive is unmounted on the host and mounted on the guest (btw,
Windows XP). The inverse process occurs when a uncheck the usb on the
virtualbox usb devices menu.

Guess, are you using the open source of virtualboxes ? I think there are
difference in the usb usability betweek binary and open source version.

If yes, you can discover the event for docking and undocking with tail -f
/var/log/messages when you dock and undock the laptop.

Then, create the /etc/acpi/events/docking-event file (the file name doesn't
matter) like this :
#event=ibm/hotkey HKEY 0080 1004 (put your event here)
#action=/etc/acpi/actions/my-dualhead-dockingscript

At finally, create the /etc/acpi/actions/my-dualhead-dockingscript file with
xrandr's commands :
#!/bin/bash
xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1280x800
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x1024 --above LVDS1

Check if dock and undock events are differrents and improve this basic idea.

good luck.

Hi Nelis, I'm using wicd to manager my eth0 and wlan0.

My /etc/conf.d/net has notinhg but dns_domain=

In /etc/init.d I only have net.lo and my /etc/conf.d/rc has
RC_PLUG_SERVICES="!net.eth0 !net.wlan0".

Before using wicd, I had started manually my wlan0 using ifconfig , iwconfig
and dhcpcd.

This configuration works fine for my laptop.

If yes, run module-rebuild (sys-kernel/module-rebuild) as root.

 I don't use xorg.conf in my notebook Lenovo T61, Intel 965GSM , xorg and
xfce ~x86, gentoo 2.6.30 with KMS, anymore.
Both kernel and X switch to 1280x800 resolution automatically, xinerama is
disable.

When I connect a external monitor, I just use this basic script to adjust my
external monitor to have a wide screen (VGA1)

xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1280x800
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x1024 --above LVDS1

To do this more useful, you can pass the resolution of VGA1 as a parameter.

To disable wide screen :

xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1280x800
xrandr --output VGA --mode 1024x1024 --same-as LVDS

[gentoo-user] xfce 4.6 dualhead

2009-06-25 Thread Fernando Antunes
Hi everyone.

Is there anyone using xfce 4.6 in a notebook, one card with internal LCD and
a external VGA connector or whatelse external connector, who had got desktop
and display programs in settings menu to work fine ? My desktop program only
shows me just one monitor and display shows me just one screen.

My intention is have two screens where a maximized program fits just in one
monitor and the xfce panel appears in just one monitor too. There is another
requisit, sometimes my VGA is plugged, sometimes not.

I don't have xinerama use flag enabled and have no intention to use it. I
had read a lot of dualhead configuration at gentoo wiki and other sites, but
they didn't work for me.
If you are a luck guy with a notebook as I described, please share your
xorg.conf and xrand comands with me.

Here is my xorg.conf :

Nowadays I'm using this command to active the VGA monitor, but the result
is a big screen with a lot of programs doesn't work well.

xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1280x800

and this to deactive VGA

xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1280x800

After upgraded to version 3, I installed the portuguese dictionary by
openoffice extension (downloaded from openoffice extension site).
So, I dont use myspell dictionaries anymore and unmerge it.

Check this article to get some ideas:
http://howtoforge.com/how-to-virtualize-a-physical-linux-machine

If you are using vmware, look for vmware converter.

I moved gentoo-sources to ~x86 and it is very stable for me.

No LED for wireless card. My T61 has an Atheros chip set and it is not
working for me, TX and RX packets are dropped. The 2.6.26 recognize the
card using ath5k driver, but no LED. I tryed ndiswrappe, but no much
progress until now.

Use euse utility to query about USE flags.

emerge gentoolkit

euse -i flag1 [flag2 flag3]

or just euse for options.

[gentoo-user] My box freezee sometimes

2006-04-28 Thread Fernando Antunes

Hi, my Pentium 4 box freeze suddenly sometimes. Reboot is a only solution.
I can try to figure out for a especific use or especific application
to associate, but no success.
I suspect this is a hardware problem or misconfigured driver.

Where I find last kernel panic logs after reboot ?
What are the first steps to investigate this ?

Thanks for any clue ?

BOX:
Pentium 4
RAM 512 RAM
gentoo 2.6-15-gentoo-r1 (olders have the sma problem)
xorg-x11 6.8.2-r6 (nv driver on a TNT2 Riva)

Did you read this ?

Maybe, your right SCSI driver is not enable in the kernel. On 3/31/06, Bo Yang <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Hello everybody :I know maybe my question is just a piece of cake for you , but
I have struggled with it for 4 days , and I didn't get any answer fromthe google and the archive .So I came here !And my problem is that :I use VMware , and install gentoo linux on the vm which hold a scsi disk
. I compile the linux kernel with scsi support in the kernel self , butwhen boot up the kernel panic with the bellow message :VFS: Cannot open root device "803" or unkonw-block(8,3)Please append a correct "root=" boot option
But I have a line in my lilo.conf : root=/dev/sda3I have recompile the kernel for many times , but it panic everytime .Thanks in advance !Best Regard !--
