I just tested and I can *definitely* tune HD using DVB/QAM with this card. I'm so close, I just need to get myth on board. Yeah, that's the *EXACT* same thing that happened to me when I got my air2pc. I was using the RPMS for 0.17, and they were compiled against a kernel w/o the latest linux-dvb code. So when myth tried to issue an ioctl to the dvb adapter, it passed an invalid ioctl to the card, so it could not talk to it. I don't really understand what could be going wrong with your gentoo build, but it sure sounds like its finding the wrong dvb headers. If I were you, I'd download the 0.18.1 source tarball, and build it by hand, making sure to specify the dvb header location correctly as the one matching your kernel. Then, rather than installing it, try running the setup program right from the source directory. If that works, then there's something funky about your gentoo builds and you need a gentoo expert to fix it. I personally just gave up on using the packaged builds and always build by hand from src now. Coming from FreeBSD's ports system (similar to gentoo), this just feels wrong. But it worked ;) Drew -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list

Can someone provide that, an ebuild, a binary, or both? b) Some channels come in perfect, others come in pixelated. Is this an artifact of how I was capturing, or will this also be an issue inside myth? Can I do anything to help it go away? c) I subscribe to HBO, but HBO doesn't seem to come over 1394. I suspect that the Linux-1394 stack has none of that. There could actually be a few reasons why it might never be able to. One is that the signal path post encryption removal is not supposed to be recordable, or at least not in an unlimited manner unless HBO marks the material as copyable. I suspect they don't and we don't and so nothing happens. It might be interesting to see if anything is reported in dmesg or elsewhere. I suspect it isn't but I don't have equipment to look at that. [gentoo-user] Myth .18, HDTV, Firewire and Gentoo
I'm currently running the .17 e-build from Gentoo on an AMD64 machine doing SDTV out of an nvidia 6600GT. The new HDTV arrives on Monday. I'd like to: a) Tune using the SA3250 b) Upgrade to .18 via an e-build c) Upgrade the kernel to 2.6.11 (from 2.6.9) d) Upgrade to nVidia 7174 via an e-build First, is this even possible (especially the SA3250 firewire stuff)? I believe there are Myth firewire issues on Gentoo. Anyone doing this? Am I crazy? Any recommendations other than Don't? -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
