Re: [Geoserver-devel] Geoserver WFS and PostGis 3D

2011-02-07 Thread Sjoerd Brandsma
Hi,

Thanks for the support so far.

I've cleaned up the modifications and removed all modifications to
JTS. It appeared they weren't really necessary.
I've added Hints to PostGISDialect.java to be able to switch between
2D and 3D. This could look something like this:

int dims = 2; // default

if (gatt.getUserData().get(Hints.FEATURE_2D) != null) {
dims = 2;
}
else if(gatt.getUserData().get(Hints.COORDINATE_DIMENSION) != null) {
dims = ((Number)
gatt.getUserData().get(Hints.COORDINATE_DIMENSION)).intValue();
}

---> Question: Were to set those hints so it will be picked up by
PostGISDialect.

GML 3.1 seems to work ok now. GML 3.2 gives some problems because the
LocationPropertyType.getProperty in GetPropertyExecuter
never seems to return a child:

child = complex.getProperty(parent, name);
parent = Point
name = AbstractGeometry, LocationString, ... (not sure which one
should fit here)

Any idea on this?

Thanks,

Sjoerd

Certainly sounds like an interesting modification to me.
The class you want to modify is probably:
http://svn.codehaus.org/geoserver/branches/2.1.x/src/wfs/src/main/java/org/geoserver/wfs/response/ShapeZipOutputFormat.java

As far as I know that xml file often contains many informatio that is found in
the feature type configuration, such are area of interest, projection, keywords,
title, abstract and so on.
Wondering, where are you planning to put the intellectual property information?
I guess you can just statically add it to the template.

Also wondering about the other WFS output formats. GML2 and GML3 are mandatory,
but I'm not really aware of a good place where to add the IP information.
And then we have CSV and GeoJSON, which are not standard, but built-in
nevertheless.
Nothing wrong with that, just thinking out loud and wondering about the fact
that people can just dodge the IP information by getting an output format
other than zipped shapefile.

Cheers
Andrea

[Geoserver-devel] shape-zip output format: adding metadata File

2011-02-07 Thread sylvie fiat

Hi,

I am concerned about adding metadata file with shapefile as we distribute
public data with intellectual property.
I just read the thread
http://www.mail-archive.com/geoserver-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg11422.html
where some of you has been talking about it.
What I would like to do is modify SHAPE-ZIP format and add .shp.xml (or not)
taking it from MetadataURL in WMS Capabilities document.
I found this tutorial
http://geoserver.org/display/GEOSDOC/Create+your+own+Output+Format as a good
start but I'd appreciate some advices on the implementation:

I was planning to modify the template like this:
zip=${typename}
shp=${typename}${geometryType}
txt=wfsrequest
xml=${typename}

and then create a fonction to get the MetadataFile in the class
ShapeZipOutputFormat which would get the capabilities document from wms service
and than parse it to get the url and finally get the Metadata document to add
it to the zip file.
Theoritically it doesn't seems too hard, but it is the first time I'm diving
into Geoserver source code and I would appreciate some advices if you don't
mind.
I wanted to check also if you are not implementing it and if you would be
interested in my modification ?

Thanks in advance,

Sylvie Fiat

Re: [Geoserver-devel] sqlserver BBox == Filter incorrect result returned

2011-02-07 Thread Justin Deoliveira
Yeah, this is something i never got around to doing. The loose bbox flag is
there but the sql server dialect does not check it basically always assuming
"loose bbox".

The patch should be straight forward. Just a check for the flag in
SQLServerFilterToSQL. Look at PostgisFilterToSQL for an example.

[Geoserver-devel] Querylayer module landed in community area (2.1.x and trunk)

2011-02-07 Thread Andrea Aime
Hi,
the querylayer module just landed in the community area.
It's the module that allows to build cross layers filters.

To try it out on trunk you just have to add the -Dwps,querylayer
to your build parameters, start GeoServer, and then maybe try
the following CQL on your bugsites layer:

DWITHIN(the_geom,
collectGeometries(queryCollection('roads','the_geom','INCLUDE')), 200,
meters)

To try it out on 2.1.x you can do the same, but to get good
efficiency on queries you'll also have to add the
-Dorg.geotools.filter.function.simplify=true
system variable in your java startup (that will make the above function calls be
replaced with just a literal once, otherwise that will happen for each
feature in the
bugsites resultset, which if of course quite slow).

Now, why the wps in the build? Because the two modules share the
collectGeometries code, which has been factored out in its own class,
GeometryCollector.
http://svn.codehaus.org/geoserver/trunk/src/extension/wps/wps-core/src/main/java/org/geoserver/wps/gs/GeometryCollector.java

Wondering what to do about it. Push it back in GeoServer main?
Push it back into GeoTools main?

Cheers
Andrea
