Thanks, added my vote to the proposal. One thought is to make a Global Settings heading for "User Interface" for this setting and the layer preview setting. Hi Brad, my apologies Brad, this one got lost in the mail flow. That say, good point, and yes that's the expected behavior. Right now, without this improvement, is like GeoServer layer groups are always advertised and enabled, so in practice what this improvement does is adding the possibility to mark a layer as non advertised and to disable a layer group, which will only affect the layer group as a whole. Nuno, That answers the advertised part. What happens if the layer group is enabled, but one of the component layers is disabled. I guess the layer group works but the disabled layer is not included in it? Hi Andrea, thank you for the feedback. As far I have investigate, LayerInfo is always delegating on ResourceInfo for those values. Enabled flag are supported by a catalog filter: https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/blob/master/src/main/src/main/ja va/org/geoserver/security/DisabledResourceFilter.java ... and there is two methods one for layers (hideLayer) and one for resources (hideResource). I don't intend to change the current handling of those values for existing concrete implementations of layers info and resource info. I will add instead add a more generic case for catalog info, the sub implementations may decide to override or not. Hi Brad, Short answer: they will be independent, and the current behavior will stand. When a layer group is using the container tree mode, or any other mode that list the layer groups layers as childes of the layer group: * If the layer group is marked as non advertised, the whole layer group tree will be removed form the capabilities document. * If the layer group is marked as advertised, the layer group will be output to the capabilities document, but the layers marked as non advertised will be filtered out, this is the current behavior.
