Re: [Geoserver-users] NetCDF Compression Settings

2016-02-03 Thread kweis...@harris.com
Hello,

Sorry for posting this twice, but I think my first attempt was hidden due to
Outlook's preference of sending HTML mail.

I'm trying to enable NetCDF compression via the NetCDF Output plugin in
GeoServer 2.8.1.  I have set a compression value (5) in both the individual
layer settings as well as the global settings; however, all WCS 2.0.1
NetCDF4-Classic responses appear to be the uncompressed file size.

I believe I have verified that they are uncompressed by running the following
command:
`ncdump -h -s  | grep DeflateLevel`

Sample files which are known to be compressed respond with their compression
level, but the GeoServer responses do not display anything.

Is there a step I could be missing to enable compression?  Has anyone else
gotten this working?

Thanks,

Peter,

GeoServer 2.8 requires a minimum of Java 7, but is supported under Java
8. Where in the docs do you see a contradiction? Please let us know so
that we can fix it.

Kind regards,
Ben.

how come there's no space between JVM arguments?, like in

Is that just a copy error or is that how you're actually passing
them, cause if it is I doubt they'll have any impact, or at least I've

Re: [Geoserver-users] WPS: Point in Polygon

2016-02-03 Thread carrbrpoa
I ended up solving this by returning a Polygon instead of a Point in my
custom process. Something like:

(...)
WKTReader wktReader = new WKTReader(new GeometryFactory());
Geometry geom = wktReader.read(pointString);
GeometryBuilder gb = new GeometryBuilder();
Point p = (Point)geom;
Polygon poly = gb.circle(p.getX(), p.getY(), 0.1, 4);

SimpleFeatureCollection collection = createFeatureCollection(poly);

return collection;

[Geoserver-users] New User Can't Get it Working

2016-02-03 Thread Goodspeed, Glenn
I'm trying to get GeoServer 2.8.0 working for the first time. I followed the
installation instructions, but when I browse to the web server, it says "403
Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server." The server
runs Apache 2.x. If I put an index.html file in the geoserver directory, it
appears in my browser. It's as if Java is not running, but ps -ef shows Java
is running. The server operating system is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x
without a GUI, so it is not possible to run a browser on the server itself.
The local firewall prevents access on 8080, but I've added proxy entries to the
Apache config file to allow port 80 traffic to be routed to 127.0.0.1:8080 and
vice-versa. Netstat shows Java is listening on port 8080. What to check next?

Hi Christian,
I am wondering if there might be user error there. Like, I would expect
digest to have to be put
in the OGC filter chain in exactly the same position as the basic one, in
any other position
it might not work correctly, right?

Cheers

Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for your response.

I've added this JVM options in the apache monitor in the Java options tab, and
apparently, after testing different formats, I have to pass them without blank
spaces and new lines... Otherwise the service won't start. And the thing is
that I don't know if the parameters are getting set in the OS.

I have tomcat installed as a service in windows Server 2012

Para: GeoServer Users
Asunto: [Geoserver-users] Production Config

Hi List,

After migrating our GeoServer 2.0.2 instance to the 2.8 version I've got a
couple of questions regarding the configuration of GeoServer in a production
environment. One thing that confused me was that on my older installation the
process tomcat was able to consume up to 2 GB of ram, which is fine as we have
plenty of RAM on that server, and to be honest we haven't had any problem, but
in the new  version I see that the process consumes up to 300 MB and I feel
that when loading WMS vector layers it doesn't do as good as it was done by the
older version. Perhaps it has to be like that and it's OK so I decided to go
for a production tuning for GeoServer.

The first thing I saw is that according to GeoServer documentation  (1) the 1.8
java version is not supported, and we installed that version... It's been
working but perhaps those problems with 1.8 version were related to our
performance problems.. So I decided to downgrade to java 1.7 and point tomcat
to that version.  But I still feel that GeoServer is not working at his best..

So I need some advice on advanced configuration. So far I've added these
parameters to the java options on the apache tomcat monitor..

-server-Xmx2048M-Xms2048m-XX:MaxPermSize=512m-XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=36000-XX:+UseParallelGC

I don't know if they're really OK. Can someone tell me if they're more or less
OK?

My Set up:

Intel Xeon CPU @ 2.0 GHz
8 GB RAM
Window Server 2012 R2 64 bit.

Oracle Corporation: 1.7.0_80 (Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM) -> 32 bit
Tomcat 7 -> 32 bit
