Re: Study abroad w/environmental or ecological economics??

2007-11-11 Thread Joseph Domask
I would recommend the course/program that I used to teach until this past
semester.

Its on "International Environment and Development" with a fair amount of
economics in the development section (at least when I was teaching it).
Its a full semester, mostly based in DC but with 3 weeks overseasmakes
for a great combination of DC/global policy with on-the-ground local
perspectives.

See www.iedonline.net

Hope that helps,
J

Re: Study abroad w/environmental or ecological economics??

2007-11-11 Thread Anthony Patt

Richard,

I would suggest looking at:

University of East Anglia (UK)
Oxford University (UK)
Cambridge University (UK)
University of Southhampton (UK)
University of Leeds (UK)
London School of Economics (UK)
University of Edinburgh (UK)
Free University of Amsterdam (NL)
University of Wageningen (NL)
Free University of Berlin (DE)
University of Heidelberg (DE)
University of Florence (IT)
University of Bologna (IT)
University of Louvaine le neuve (BE)
University of Graz (AUT)
University of Innsbruck (AUT)
University of Lund (SWE)
Chalmers University (SWE)
Federal Technical University Zurich (CH)
University of Bern (CH)
University of Aix en Provence (FR)

There are probably a lot more, but these are some of the places in
Europe that immediately come to mind with good environment and/or
economics departments. Since the harmonization of European
univsersities that has occurred over the last 5-10 years, almost all
European universities have programs for visiting students from
foreign universities, and in most cases there are plenty of courses
with English as the language of instruction. Outside of Europe I am
less familiar, but the Australian National University, National
University of Singapore, and University of Cape Town all come to mind
as being excellent.

Cheers,

Tony Patt

Study abroad w/environmental or ecological economics??

2007-11-10 Thread Wallace, Richard
Hi all,

A student of mine has asked me to recommend study abroad programs that
combine environmental studies with economics (his two majors). Does
anyone have recommendations along these lines? I'm having a hard time
coming up with rigorous study abroad options in environmental or
ecological economics.

Thanks, and apologies for cross-postings.

Cheers,

Rich
