In my opinion the ACE plugin should be added to GIMP-2.3.x. Can anyone add it? I do not have cvs write access. _ Webhosting ab 1,75 EUR pro Monat mit CGI und PHP3/4 Unterstützung !!! Yeah, seriously. The bounties are a Novell thing at the origin, remember? You could of course create/modify the HTML files by hand as an alternative, but then the next time someone runs that mono script, those changes will get overwritten. Dave Neary wrote: The two suggestions which seemed to get the most traction were a plug-in distribution system and a vector-based shapes tool. Simon agreed to mentor someone on the shapes tool, we need a mentor for the plug-in system. There is a related resource distribution project for gDesklets in the bounties already - some coordination might be possible. Some of the other projects on the Summer Of Code list include fixing bugs listed in their bug tracking system as one of the items. Might be worth considering adding. If a student fixes enough bugs (depending on severity/importance) they would be eligible for a bounty or, another possibility is if they tackled one of the hot issues currently in bugzilla. -- Cheers! Such a framework would first have to be added and I don't see it as particularily useful. It's a great solution for the real world problem of : Run the Foo plugin. I don't have the Foo plugin. Oh crap, what package is it in? I see that problem but the suggested solution doesn't help with it. What the user really wants to know is how to get that particular plug-in/script. Telling the user what language it is written in, is not going to solve that problem. Given that in the Real World, the vast majority of the scripts people have installed came in the same package as the scripting language itself, this solves a major part of the problem. On the other hand, if we are adding a field-of-origin, it's trivial to make it specify not just language but a URL or somesuch for how to get it. It looks like no-one picked up the task of adding the projects to the Google bounties (yet). The closing date for submissions is tomorrow, so we're probably a bit late now. Still, we should add them, and put up the news item in the hope that next time around we get contacted earlier to take part. Who can do this today?
