[Gimp-developer] Marching Ants successor?
Presuming unlimited GPU power, how should unfilled shapes/selection outlines be displayed? The noisy selection in noisy-217b.gif did not offer any real delineation -- although most people would not manually work right up close to the border, but that's not the point. Is it possible to shadow (darken) the _unselected_ portion of the image? [Gimp-developer] SmartDeblur
Vladimir Yuzhikov has release his SmartDeblur program under the GPL at https://github.com/Y-Vladimir/SmartDeblur Yuzhikov worked on two common cases: blurring due to incorrect focus and blurring due to movement. Each of you knows very well, he points out, they are very difficult to repair. In fact, the examples used as samples by Yuzhikov are impossible to fix using current commercial technology. You can see these amazing results here:http://gizmodo.com/5953601/incredible-csi-enhance-technology-fixes-unfocused-photos If anyone has the interest to port this into the plugin system, it would make a huge addition, giving GIMP something no other editor has. -Luke ___ gimp-developer-list mailing list gimp-developer-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer-list

A GEGL op is also much more useful generally. [Gimp-developer] Many thanks!!!!!!
Hello! I am a teacher in sweden, and i just want to say thank you for the great work you do. Me, and the people i know who work with art in school (I work with the age 12-15).. are so happy that gimp exist. Since we have no budget to buy programs to the kids computers, Gimp saves many art teachers work. There is a school law that says that the kids have to learn picture manipulating programs in school, so without gimp, i think many teacher wouldt be able to complete their mission as teachers. I just want you to know, how important your work is. It i not only a fun tool… it is necessary. The kids learn how to work with pictures. They also understand better how media fools us with adds on skinny girls and perfect skins. This makes them feel better about them selves and they become more critical to pictures they meet in real life and in media. (Also the kids love to work with gimp.) I am an advanced user of photoshop, and i never thought it would be possible to teach something that close to photoshop to my students. Also you do an excellent job on developing the program. =) I am going to donate the little money i have left this year on the art-school budget, if i am allowed to do so. =) And i am going to tell the art teacher colleagues i know on our internet page, to do the same. You deserve that. I wish you all a great day, week, year.. and so on. Hug each other and celebrate yourself. And when you have a bad day, think of us, struggling teachers in sweden, which have an easier job, thanks to you. BIG HUGS FROM SWEDEN! It's really nice to get mail like this, in between all the complaints :) About the donation, that would of course be appreciated, but if you can spend it on something else that's useful for the kids, go ahead and do that instead :) Regards from the GIMP team, --Mitch ___ gimp-developer-list mailing list gimp-developer-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer-list

[Gimp-developer] [GSoC] Mentor stipends, GSoC mentors
Hi, like in the past years, Google is issuing stipiend of $500 each for every GSoC project an organization has been running (whether successfully completed or not). Unlike donation to GIMP, these are payments for services provided (mentoring the GSoc students), and we may use the money more liberally. This means that there are the following options: 1. mentors may request to have the money transferred to their own accounts and use it as they please 2. mentors may choose to let the money reside in the GIMP account handled by GNOME, just like any other donation If you want to have the money be transferred to you, please let me know about that before Nov 4th. If I don't here anything, I'll assume you're going with option 2. -- Regards, Michael ___ gimp-developer-list mailing list gimp-developer-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer-list
