I would suggest learning all about masks. Using a mask makes it easy to recover a detail if you mask off more than you intended. I would also highly recommend a graphics tablet for this kind of work. [Gimp-user] how to remove color spot
I have a photo with a hexagonal green spot that I'd like to remove. I imagine the spot was caused by the position of the sun in the photo: http://community.webshots.com/photo/550815856/2057089240091450488rWqiNx Any suggestions on how to remove it? I tried using the Hue-Saturation tool to desaturate various colors in the area, and it helped some but still left a noticeable spot. I've seen lots of suggestions to use the Clone tool, but I don't think that will work because I want to keep the limb detail behind the spot. Thanks. Joey __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Well, the first thing to consider is that, since your graphics are digital photos they don't contain any "objects." They consist entirely of pixels in various colors. That may be stating the obvious, but the point is that since the picture is nothing but patches of color, any (semi-)automatic retouching tool is going to define objects according to its own rules, and how well that works will depend greatly on the kind of image you have and what kind of artifacts you're trying to remove. So it would be helpful if you'd explain more specifically what you are trying to do. But regarding the clone tool, I've always found it tremendously useful for photo retouching. Re: [Gimp-user] Font size
Paul Bloch wrote: So I've noticed that although there are different palettes for when you're placing text (text field, font selector) I can't find anyway to edit the size of the text! That's strange. Normally you can just select existing text with the text tool, which allows you to change the size. That's assuming that the text is still in its original state--a separate text layer. If you have merged it into another layer or applied transformations to it (e.g. scaling, rotation, etc.) then it has been converted to a graphical object, and you can no longer perform text operations on it. [Gimp-user] Installation Issues
Hi, I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge when it comes to installation issues. I was trying to install the GTK as well as the GIMP (latest versions), and I couldn't even open the installer up. Instead, it gave me this message: "Access violation at address 004096da. write of address 00401000." Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,-B Do you Yahoo!? Everyone is raving about the all-new Yahoo!
