Actually make distcheck complained about the missing files. I wonder a
bit why it didn't complain before because I am sure that I always run it
before the release. But that is also the reason why I fixed it now - no
release without successful distcheck!

Again, sorry about finding out so late but it doesn't make any
difference to the user and gives you the change to translate if for
the .2 release. Maybe the distributions are even able to include
translations for their packages.

OK, sorry, maybe I was to short in my previous email. I'm not saying
that developers should delay a fix for translators' sake.

I'm just saying that THIS case, the anjuta 2.26.1 release, the
POTFILES.in fix maybe generated confusion and frustiation in
translators. We was awaked by damned-lies automatic message announcing
10+ missing strings, but there was no more time to do or try anything

From my point of view, my timezone, and my

anything, just stay and say shit, we've missed this release. Or, to
be honest, there was just to time to ping the Italian anjuta

wait, stop: package is yet out.

This is the reason I'm asking developers to courteously announce a

Could be helpfut at least to avoid unnecessary urgency.

There was no chance. I was late with the release because I Monday was a
holiday in Germany and I had already asked the release team if it would
be ok to release tuesday morning. When I finally ran make distcheck it
complained about missing files. I fixes that and rolled the release and
committed the changes.

But, nevertheless, it's absolutely no difference for the user because
the strings were untranslated before and in this release. If translators
care they can now be translated in the next release.

Well, I cannot find that module to be translated:

  http://l10n.gnome.org/module/

It seems the module was never announced to the GNOME Translation

 I've fixed that now: http://l10n.gnome.org/module/gnome-disk-utility/

 I'm also cc:ing the maintainer.

Great, thanks, I've been wanting to ask for translations as
gnome-disk-utility will be used by GVfs in the GNOME 2.28 release (we
are using in Fedora 11 already); in particular strings for drives,
volumes and mounts will come from gnome-disk-utility.

Now, gnome-disk-utility actually has quite a lot of strings marked for
translation and I wanted to talk to you guys about that.

 - src/gdu/gdu-ata-smart-attribute.c
These are names and descriptions of ATA SMART attributes; not sure
we can't get around to not translating them; they appear in the
UI for inspecting a hard disk, e.g.

http://people.freedesktop.org/~david/gdu-smart.png

(note, the UI is not very pretty right now.. but I do expect us to
list all attributes including localized names and descriptions)

 - src/gdu/gdu-util.c
All the various MS-DOS partition types (and there is a lot of these)
are marked for translation. For example

   - Hidden FAT16 32M (0x14)
   - PartitionMagic (0x3c)

Maybe we don't really want this, I mean these are more names than
anything so maybe we it shouldn't be marked for translation. Or
maybe translators can just decide not to translate it. Maybe I
can just add Translator: comments for that. Thoughts?

Thanks for any insights.

I think currently the best way to handle this is to open bug reports in
