Hi,

in my opinion, libdazzle should be archived on Damned Lies and no
longer offered for translation.

Re: Release notes

2022-03-21 Thread Marek Černocký
We have lost the option to translate the main GNOME presentation
website a few years ago. Now we can not translate Release notes. This
is not a good way from the translator's point of view. Web have very
good I18N of the whole GNOME system, but we are not able to present it
to users in their native language.

Problems with D-L

2021-09-07 Thread Marek Černocký
Hi,

I'm not able to commit the following translation:
https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/gnome-tour/master/po/cs/
It ends with the message:
504 Gateway Time-out
So I have pushed it directly with git, but D-L doesn't reflect the
changes and still shows the untranslated strings.

I also need fix global statistics for Czech GNOME 41 documentation. It
shows 288 untranslated strings but it should be 285.

Thanks

Corrupted GNOME Shell translations

2018-09-30 Thread Marek Černocký
Hi,

I discovered an unpleasant problem with GNOME Shell translations.
Several tens of strings disappeared from the translations a they
commented now althouth they are active in source code. In addition
Damned Lies shows an old state (and also downloads the correct files)
so translators don't know about it.

Some translations was repaired, but you can see this problem on da, hu,
lv, ru, sk, sr, vi…

Damned Lies shows and downloads 425 string – 100% translated. git file
has only 365 strings and 60 active strings are commented now.

Best regards
Marek Černocký

the same as the previous gtk3 branch. The old master is now the gtk2
branch, which will be used only for bug-fix releases in the Gtk2
series. In master, doc/Makefile.am has "HELP_LINGUAS = de es fr sl",
whereas the gtk2 branch has "DOC_LINGUAS = cs de el es fr sl".
Apparently doc/de/de.po and doc/sl/sl.po are the same in both
branches; "cs" and "el" must have been added to the old master branch
after the gtk3 branch was created.

Would it make sense to add "cs" and "el" to HELP_LINGUAS, create
corresponding subdirectories, and copy the ??.po files from the gtk2
branch to master? Or should that be left to the corresponding
translation teams?

Thanks for your thoughts!

In small teams as our Galician team, we have a lot of problems to
maintain translators just because people that could help us with

workflow is as simple as download a file, edit it and upload it.

This is a certain barrier for the selection translators. Who has problem
with such primitive operations, he will be difficult to produce high
quality translations. Good knowledge of language is base but some
technical knowledge is necessary too. Ubuntu has web interface for
translation and translation quality is poor in comparison with Gnome.

Marv

A lot of people have given up translating just because is a tedious task
(maybe not for me, and for people that got used to it).

 An ideal workflow could be:
   - Sing up in this (xxx) service.
   - Enroll our team
   - Translate what ever you want online
   - And our reviewers will do they work after yours.

Obviously this online tool have to enable us to download those
translations to review them manually or with some custom tools (pology,
 language-tools, custom scripts, etc).

Just my honest opinion. I don't know what other language groups members
think, but definitely could be a major improvement in our ~daily work

 corresponding errors

And what about an updates? You will announce changes manually to i18n

We have set the 26th of November as the new release date for GCompris. A
good opportunity to update the translation if its not already done.

There is a special think to do, the new hangman activity uses our
 src/readingh-activity/resources/wordsgame/default-locale.xml files to
propose words to the children. It is thus very important now to have
them properly filled with about 1000 to 2000 words. For now I did the
work for English and French. Translators, please refer to this page for
 instructions: http://gcompris.net/wiki/Translation_addons

When I check the help guide for empathy at
http://l10n.gnome.org/module/empathy/, I realize that the picture can
be translated. However I cannot find a link to do that, could you tell
me how those languages translate the pictures? Thanks.

In short: By creating a screenshot. There's is no text entry tool that
 magically creates a picture.

 In long:
Run the (translated) application, take a screenshot with your favorite
tool, if not existing yet create a figures subdirectory in your
language directory in the userguide directory of your git checkout, save
your localized screenshot there with the same name as the same file in
the C language directory in the userguide directory, run git add,
git commit and git push. :)

 andre

When you create the localized image also translate corresponding po
message (simply copy the original string). If a original image is changed
corresponding po message is changed too. You will see an untranslated (or
fuzzy) message and so you will get a notice about a original image change.

Ahoj,

začal jsem překládat nápovědy k programům, protože v těch to, co se týká
češtiny, zatím moc slavné není. Pro začátek jsem přeložil nápovědu od
kalkulačky (gcalctool). Je to můj první překlad přímo pro Gnome a nějak
jsem úplně nepochopil co s ním.

Z informací na webu jsem vytušil, že člověk musí mít git účet, ale ten
dostane, až po schválení na základě nějakého ukázkového překladu. Komu
ale ten překlad zaslat? Sem do konference?
