[Goanet]PRESS STATEMENT For kind favour of Publication
July 1, 2005. To: The Administrator, Goanet. via e-mail Sir, Kindly publish the following Press Statement issued by the party and oblige. Thanking you, Yours Sincerely, for Goa Su Raj Party. Sd/- Floriano C. Lobo Gen. Sec/Spokesperson. ** PRESS STATEMENT The Goa Su-Raj Party is not surprised at the sacking of the Director of Tourism Mr. Elvis Gomes for his alleged complicity in misleading the Governor of Goa on the removal of the River Princess. When the five member delegation of the party handed over to the Governor, on March 28, 2005, a lengthy memorandum, one of the items in the memorandum was the removal of the River Princess which read as under: D.River Princess: An investigation is to be ordered into the role of the erstwhile Manohar Parrikar Government in the delay involved in the removal of the River Princess and the belated award of the tender for its removal to Crosschem Pvt. Ltd. All efforts to be made to remove this curse which has affected tourism and the local population of Candolim and Calangute. Investigation is also to be instituted into the disappearance of the machinery of the River Princess and culpability ascribed. The bold assurance that the Governor had given to the members of the delegation, was, in his own words: "Heads will roll". We believe that in Elvis Gomes' sacking, unfortunately only one head has rolled. But the question which persists is "was the sacking justified?" If it was, then the Governor would not have served the notice to Mr. Elvis Gomes at 8.00 p.m in the night through the police which happened to be the eve of the counting of votes in the bye-elections of June 2, 2005. This smacks of the Governor washing his hands off the case with Mr. Elvis Gomes as the 'scapegoat'. The Goa Su-Raj Party strongly believes that the Governor of Goa, by this singular action, is not leading Goans to believe that he was working in the best interest of Goa and of Goans. Goans have had wool pulled over their eyes all too often, now to believe that one person was solely responsible for the sabotage that has taken place. The Governor will do better to prevail on the 'Rane government' to immediately institute a time bound inquiry to identify the person/s in the government responsible for : (a) giving the contract to Crosschem Pvt. Ltd. (b) who was in charge of liaising with the company after it was awarded the contract. (c) whose responsibility it was to do the follow-up on the performance of the said company and duly file progress reports and (d) what action is proposed to be taken against the company and those in the government responsible for this fiasco. If the government of Goa is not inclined, for its own reasons, to follow the process suggested by this party, then we hereby demand that the ex-director of Tourism Mr. Elvis Gomes be re-instated forthwith, or, in the alternative, the government should come out with the necessary material and put the same before the public of Goa in order to justify the action of the Governor in suspending Mr. Elvis Gomes alone. Let the elector be the best judge of the actions of the government. End.

June 28, 2005 To: The aAdministrator, GOANET. via e-mail Sir, Attached please find the Press Statement issued by the Goa Su-Raj Party for kind favour of publication. Thanking you, Yours Sincerely, for Goa Su-Raj Party Sd/- Floriano C. Lobo Gen. Secretary/Spokesperson. ** Press Statement The Goa Su-Raj Party condems the policy of the Dhempe Higher Secondary School of Arts & Science, Panjim, for discriminating students opting for portuguese language as an optional subject. It has been brought to our notice by the parents of the aggrieved students of the eleventh standard, numbering about twenty, who have opted for portuguese as an optional language, that they met yesterday the Principal of the Higher Secondary School and requested him to conduct portuguese language classes in the school premises. The Principal, we are told, showed his inability to do so for want of space and has advised the parents to make alternate arrangements on their own for a teacher to teach the subject outside the college. The parents are believed to have questioned the Principal as to why they should make such arrangements when the rules of the Higher Secondary Board stipulates that the concerned institution should provide the teacher if the strength of the students is minimum fifteen. The Goa Su-Raj Party strongly supports the demand of the association of aggrieved parents for such a demand for their wards and urges the education minister to intervene immediately to redress the legitimate grievances of the students. It is common knowledge that systematic efforts are being made to discourage and ultimately eliminate the study of the portuguese language in Goa, when the study of same is a part of the curriculum even at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Call centers located at Chennai and other places have been advertising in the local papers seeking candidates knowing the portuguese language. Knowledge of portuguese is now an advantage in employment. Why the discrimination? Don't these institutions wish to provide their students with advantages that will help them to secure jobs? Or is there hatred of the language so deep-rooted that the welfare of the students is chucked to the winds? At a time when India is actively pursuing its entry into the European Union Market of which Portugal is a member and was its past president, and when the interests of Portugal were at one time looked after by the Consul General of Portugal Mr. Surendra Dempo, a scion of the Dempo family, it is strange to find that an educational institution promoted and patronized by the Dempo family refuses to encourage the study of the portuguese language. End.

June 5, 2005 To: The Administrator, GOANET. Sir, Hereunder, please find the press statement issued by the party for kind favour of publication. Thanking you, Yours faithfully, for Goa Su-Raj Party. Sd/- Floriano C. Lobo President. *** Press Statement: Goa Su-Raj Party hails the decision of the electorate of the five constituencies of Goa that have gone for the by-elections on June 2, 2005 . It believes that this decision is against the communal forces; divisive politics and rank opportunists and deserters. Goa Su-Raj Party thanks the voters of Taleigao constituency, in particular, for their decisiveness in keeping out the communal BJP while specially thanking those conscientious voters who have gone out to vote for the candidate put up by the party. The party knows that those who exercised their franchise in favour of the party's candidate are only a fraction of those electors who are sick and tired of the political shenanigan at play in Goa. Goa Su-Raj Party believes that the wise electorate of Goa, will concentrate its efforts to weed out corrupt and opportunistic forces from Goan politics when Goa will go for general elections in 2007, having dealt a crippling blow to the communal forces to take these out of circulation, once and for all, in the June 2, 2005 by-elections. Goa Su-Raj Party also believes that Goa will ultimately, in its own time, gravitate towards 'Su-Raj' which means overriding 'Good Governance' End

30th. May, 2005 To: The Administrator, Goanet Sir, Hereinbelow please find the press note for favour of publica tion. Thanking you, Yours faithfully, for Goa Su-Raj Party. Sd/- Floriano Lobo President/Spokesperson. Goa Su-Raj Party believes that it is unfortunate for Goa that its senior party officials should make irresponsible statements such as the one made by Mr. Manohar Parrikar recently i.e "Parrikar Warns Police Of BJP's Come Back" . We have seen Manohar Parrikar at work through his vindictiveness for the past 4 years. And this statement proves just that. It is true that Parrikar 's government was a 'Nazi-Hitler government by virtue of his RSS indoctrination from a very young age, which is nothing but Nazism. He has been using the police machinery to such an extent that its backbone has been broken. It will take some time to mend the damage already done. Parrikar's hopes of coming back to power are as remote as the sun rising from the West. Parrikar must know that "repeating a lie a hundred times will make it sound like the truth" is no longer valid in this case. He has proved himself to be a complete washout with respect to 'general governance' . He must utilize his talents in some other useful manner considering that his dear RSS doctrine has been internationally blacklisted and will remain so for a long time to come. Is it now possible for Mr. Vajpayee and Advani to publicly pronounce that they are RSS-Swayamsevaks, like they have been freely pronouncing when they (unfortunate for India) occupied the two topmost seats of honour and power in the nation?.
Re: [Goanet]Press Statement for kind favour of Publication.
A very good question indeed, Carlos. And thank you for saying things in so many words. As a matter of fact, the GSRP Road Map is going through a thorough final run down to make sure there are no treacherous pot holes in the road to hamper a smooth drive. The delay is regretted but preferred in the understanding that there hasn't been any road map in print so far in the last 43 years of Goa's democratic driving. As far as cleaning politicians and/or clean politicians, GSRP is disappointed to some extent that there are not many new wouldbe clean, committed and to some extent self-less persons coming forward to contest the soon to be declared 5 bye elections. We at Goa Su-Raj will not allow the contestants on our party ticket to dip into their own pockets to finance the campaigns. Rather, we want them to join our programme of raising the requisite (nominal) funds from well-wishers etc. and spend it only on the most necessary details to be covered during any elections. Our observation is that those who have spare bank balances want to waste it on triffles like elections in the hope that they will make it in a big way. Thank you for the offer to help. We need more people like him. But we need to catch the bigger fish ie the Politicians. People in Goa may be afraid to go after them without fearing retribution, and even the Goa press does not expose them. What can you do, being a leader of a rising political party to accomplish this task of getting the looters to the place where they belong. Any thoughts? We can help you if you have developed a road map to achieve this result. Best regards, Carlos

April 16, 2005 To, The Administrator, Goanet, Via: e-mail. Kind Attention Mr. . Sir, Subject: Press Statement. Hereunder please find the Press Statement issued by Goa Su-Raj Party on the front page headline news in the Goa's dailies captioned 'CEC for ban on Independents" for kind favour of publication. Thanking you, for Goa Su-Raj Party. Sd/- (Floriano C. Lobo) President Press Statement The Goa Su-Raj Party appreciates and welcomes the decision of the Chief Election Commissioner Mr. T.S. Khrisna Murthy to press for the 'Ban' on Independent candidates in the Parliamentary and State Legislative Assembly elections. The CEC having cited Goa as an example, vindicates our party's uncompromising stand that independents, however principled they may be, are rank opportunists, who take up the cause of the development of the respective constituencies to shovel dust in the eyes of the people. We believe that the CEC had Goa's Felipe Neri Rodrigues in mind when he made the sweeping statement. Goa Su-Raj party, however, begs to differ with the CEC's offered alternative of the two-year ban on Independents from being part of any government. This will again open up Pandora's Box just like the 1/3rd requirement for splits in the respective party to escape anti-defection law, where Goa showed the way. The Goa Su-Raj Party upholds the CEC's decision to push for the ban on 'Independents' altogether, believing that voters must choose the contesting Parties on their individual ideological strengths and their written down road map towards good governance rather than on the strength of the individual candidates they may choose to field. End.
