Dear, Dear, Santana Afonso,
I have painstakingly gone through what you have to say.
But something tells me that, though you being a real Goan and very sincere
at heart, a person who wants to see the good of Goa and al Goans, you are
somehow terribly misinformed and as such very naive.

Agreed that Churchill Alemao, Babush et al have flunked. Yes, they have.
Agreed that Churchill is like a wind sock you see at the end on the runways
at airports. It changes its direction as the wind changes. But the only
difference is that the wind sock helps the pilots or the air traffic
controllers to guide the landings and take-offs of aircrafts loaded with
gullible people like us, whereas Churchill will always shift his position to
see that the chute that brings the money into the pockets is placed
rightly. BTW, if you do not already know, Churchill's SGF is now committed
to Digamber Kamat's government, no sooner than Babush made his move in the
morning. Besides, he is probably getting a ministership. How DK is going to
manage t hat is a million dollar question.

Narvekar, Ravi Naik, Digamber Kamat, the whole lot have grown on the same
foundation. They all want to fill their own big pockets by fooling us
gullible Goans. I have said that 'finance' shouldn't have gone to Narvekar,
though I was somewhat ok with Ravi with 'Home'. Since last few days,
Narvekar, as the finance minister, seems to have performed a miracle by
eliminating the revenue deficit to make Goa the number one state in India to
do so. To this I ask just one question. Why now? Why not before? On what
basis? The revenue deficit can be wiped out if you reduce the ACTUAL TARGET,
meaning, more revenue but much more in the pockets where it does not belong.
I am not a financial savy person but when it comes to Narvekar, I just
refuse to believe especially with money matters.

Ravi was the Chief of the Party as well as a minister for quite some time.
He could have stopped the drugs cartel and the foreigner nuisance. It is
very difficult to believe that he waited until he landed the Home Ministers
job to do so. On the contrary, his black mailing tactics will fetch him much
more revenue than any other Minister.

I want you to remember just one thing. And you may be hooked on the Congress
or the BJP or the NCP or the MGP or the UGDP or whatever. But be sure that
you will be stripped off your clothes. These guys are number one cheats.
They cheat, they fool the people, they have murdered democracy a thousand
years ago. Above all, they have murdered their own conscience ten thousand
times when it comes to money.

You may or may not believe me. But the fact is that there is only one party
in Goa, that too, a fledgling party called the Goa Su-Raj Party which
stands the tallest among alll these clowns and ali babas. If you want to
convince yourself, do so by all means. Just hit www.goasu-raj.org.

BTW I am a product of the Portuguese regime andI was a teenager when the so
called liberation took place. I wish I was older then, so I could help stop
this so called invasion to liberate Goa. All that has happened is that Goa
and Goans have jumped from the frying pan into the fire.

Best of regards

floriano/goasuraj

[Goanet] Women fighters from Bambolim battlefield

August 13 2007

There are many of them but I got to meet only two of them. The first one is
grand mother Kalyani Andrade who is engaged in defence of her land against
take over by real estate lobby.

Here is her picture link:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=124

The second one is Teja Hadkondkar. She is an elected member of
Bambolim-Talaulim-Curca-Nauxi Panchayat. Here she is actively battling the
invaders:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=126

These fighters deserves all the support and encouragement. Indeed they are
role models for battle on land rights in Goa.

And of course they are doing it in the interest on younger generation and
generations yet to be born. Here is a child in the middle of the Battle as
the builders want to raze down their house. They attempted it once. We all
owe answer to this child:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=136

This boy's family leaves in a beautiful house at Bambolim coast. They are
are targeted and regularly harassed by the goons in uniforms and out of
uniforms. Here is the picture of house that builders are preying upon:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=129

While I went to support the people there, Aldeia de Goa's security personnel
charged at me. They were demanding that I stop filming the injustice to
people, rape of nature and transformation of Goa State as rubber stamp of
builders and miners. Here is their security chief trying to stop me from
filming:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=125

And more security personnel was brought in to stop my camera, they could
not:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=131

New roads being constructed to the Bambolim beach. People's voices are
sought to be throttled when they protested against this. Of course 146 acres
of land for filthy rich needs new roads. If needed roads can be build over
the people's houses, their bed rooms and even their dead bodies in near
future:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=130

Insult to the planet goes unabated:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=139

And there are underground constructions possibly the swimming pools. Of
course for those who are to buy their bungalows here at Aldea de Goa at the
cost ranging between 0ne to five crore deserve the luxuries of life. Never
mind this is going to cause complete disruptions to the lives of people in
Bambolim and Nauxi villages : both tribal villages they are going to be
erased. In any case Aldea de Goa believes that they have come to be elites
with elites of Goa at Dona Paula.

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=138

And they declare they have all the legal permissions for their rule of
'might is right':

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=141

And just to remind you again as to who they are:

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=122

They have plenty of money; for their business is eco-crimes and community
rights violations, they pay to chop, over 5000 coconut trees in the past few
months. That landlord Sinari and others have no feelings for all this they
got their bucks pockets full, secure for all their future generations. Their
trickery in getting the land in their possession during Portuguese colonial
times and later on in 'free' Goa paid of at last.

http://www.openspaceforum.net/twiki/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=133

The meaning of 'Aldeia' in Portuguese means 'village'. What sought of
village is this that is being build upon livilihoods of People of Goa?
Village whose conception is in rape of nature? Is it a village at all?

You be the judge...

Warmly,
Seby

Dear Ashley,

Thanks for your email - but with the highest educated CM in the country in
IITian Manohar Parrikar, I expect all Goans also to become highly educated
to man/manage the industries that overseas foreign direct investment will
bring to Goa. We dont expect foreign direct investment to bring in many out-
of-state managers or engineers or workers to Goa. If there are qualified
Goans available in Goa, there will be no room for out of state managers or
engineers or workers. That is why Goan youth should go to college and
prepare themselves for the potential opportunities - just flying kites or
sinking Kingfisher beers all day will not be enough !

Dear Dotor D'Cruz,

Manhoar Parrikar as CM is fine but I beg to differ with you that Goa
requires industralization development, but do you realise, that do we have
the human resources to man the jobs that these ndustries will throw open ?
Let us say enough is enough to the Migrants at the cost of the Goan!!!

These industries enjoy the tax holiday and then scoot off ...they are all
fly by night operators, just the way you come to Goa on your jaunts.

The long run consequences of Goa and its people in welcoming all and sundry
and by allowing their hearts rule their heads is going to be a very costly
investment and ones going to pay the price are the future generations

What Goa requires is sustainable development not the shipshod development
and playing into the hands of the land mafia, are you trying to tell me that
that these politicians love Goa, my foot!!!
They are only pissing on your back and telling you its raining!!! Take what
they say not with a pinch of salt but with a heap full of salt!!!

As for my knowledge the Goan youth have left the shores of Goa to find jobs
in the Cayman islands, Americas, Europe, Middle East, Down under and the
famous cruise liners.

The educated ones like you know where their bread can be buttered and get
nostalgic about Goa and pay some lip sevice to the pardise lost.

I can for one tell you that the present industries in Verna have provided
jobs in the management and labour sectors to people from Karwar, Bihar,
Assam, Jaharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, and New Delhi. The sons of the soil can
go fly a kite or sink a kingfisher beer!!!

So bye for now. with some food for thought.

Love,

Ashley

With the BJP staking claim to form the government in Goa, Goa is set to have
the best Qualified Chief Minister once again in IITian Engineer Manohar
Parrikar. This is significant because having a
technocrat as Chief Minister will attract a lot of foreign direct
investments to Goa. This will spur industrialization in Goa and redirect
foreign investments from places like Pune and Bangalore.
Its upto Goans to realize the potential of such a move and capitalize on the
situation with an unified front.

My dearGood Cheerful Rico,

Pray belay... you know not much that cheers Cecil, Gabe, Merwyn & I

Reminds me when Morarjee Dessai briefly held sway over India.

He dared to promulgate a law to impose prohibition in Goa.

When he came down to Goa, to preside over the AICC convention,
one of the starred motions was his sad obsseion.

Then we rose! Aurobindo de Martins dos Barros, Erasmo, Sanker Bandhari
I & many others, under the banner of The Fraternity of Fools.

Along his drive, Dabolim-Raj Niwas, almost every tavern, & they were then
many, had enacted bamboo arches with empty bottles telling banners:
DRINKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE! WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT THE BOTTLE!

When that evening the "august guests" sought to promenade Miramar we were
there in full force, with cups filled with feni! Screaming at Morarjee and
cohorts

with Derwish fury: HAVE A CUP THAT CHEERS.

The cup I tried to press to his lips didnt´t contain just feny but feny
copiously drunk

by me, during the day, and filtered out.

Needless to say, no prohibition bill was ever tabled during that AICC sessin
or, ever since.

The item posted about the rescue of Christian priests by members of the RSS
was a news item quite some time back, and I remember seeing it here in
Mumbai media. At the time, the item was not disputed by anyone. And it
should be remembered that it was reported in a secular publication and not
that of the RSS. Under the circumstances, those who wish to dispute the
authenticity of the item really expose their own agenda.

RESPONSE:

Scientifically speaking it is also possible to stuff 80 priests in a
truck, its not impossible.
Even local minibuses take 70-80 passengers in Goa at ease, and its Orissa.
If minibuses can take so many passengers in Goa, which is amongst the most
educated state in India, why can't it take place in Orissa, and its a
truck( referring to the news).
Now as you have named me as Bhandare's clone, what should i name you? Well
that's not the topic of discussion, but i have been never taught namecalling
subject in my school. I didn't know about your school. But namecalling or
referring as "clone" of another should be avoided, and responses if any
should be pertaining to the topic of discussion. But you too sound like Gabe
Menezes interms of labelling others, So are you Gabe's clone or Gabe yours?
He too labelled me Bhandari II.
Can you please put some light on this matter? ofcourse in co-operation with
Gabe(British Servant)..sorry..i just now inherited this labelling art from you,
so am i your clone now?
About Bhandare, he has been always facing a raw deal for all his posts.
Regarding the evidences, well i responded to what was posted on this forum.
Even i would like to see the proofs and evidences.

The problem is that siilence is also taken as consent! My concern with the
Voice of Bigotry that is taking over Goanet now (okay, we've always had it with
us, but never on such an organised, coordinated, unabashed scale) is the manner
in which it shapes and distorts the debate.

It changes Goanet from being a carinsN sharing, helpful place into bring a yorr
bigots are worse than mine... the outsider is dirtier than us... logic.

If you respond and answer (and help shift the agenda further) you're damned,
and if you keep silent (and help create the impression that we agree with pure,
undiluted bigotry) you're also damned.

I wonder if Rajan Parrikar ever thought about the acute shortage of public
toilets in urban Goa. (The sulabh sauchalayas, pay toilets, are a welcome
addition, but still inadequate.)

In what way is Parrikar's rhetoric any different from Catholic bigotry against
(poorer) Hindus who lack acess to sanitation? Or, the Hindu bewilderment with
Catholic pig-rearing tendencies (have you heard Shashikala Kakodkar talk in
assembly?)

The problem doesn't lie with "non-Goan" pee-ers. It lies in our own bigotry, in
our inability to frame issues (did someone talk about engineers having
tunnel-vision?). and in our lack of a decent sanitation infrastructure.

It's very easy to blame others... It's very easy to build paranoia. Can we go
beyond it? FN

[Goanet] GDA will back Dabolim as Goa's sole International Airport?

I do not believe and do not agree what Churchill Alemao said. Do you believe
my brothers and sisters?

Last time Churchill Alemao and Babus Monserrate played and crash the
government of Manohar Parrikar of BJP, because of Konkani Language issue and
promised that they will never support any more to form the government in GOA
forever.

Now where is the promise...? Open your eyes my brothers and
sisters...

This is what we all believe and dance with the tune of our corrupt MLAs in
Goa. What support YOU and I got from our MLAs? Nothing.. and these
MLAs are making money while the sun shines. (make hay while the sun
shines).

Talking highly about the Dabolim International Airport.. When it
will be ready? And why the infrastructure and development work still not
started. Almost a year past the airport authority of India had approved Rs.
300 crores for development and infrastructure of the Dabolim International
Airport. Why the work is not started? My request to all goan brothers and
sister to raise this question with Churchill Alemao, and why he is quiet so
far. The answer is in front of everyone, open your eyes, do not sleep, ami
goemkars sodanch succegadh.

I read during the election time in Goa, the centre said the MOPA Airport
work will start soon and already approved. I'm sure, 100% percent that the
MOPA Airport work will be starting soon. BJP is trying hard by hook or crook
to form the government in Goa. These were the words of L.K. Advani. He and
his followers were always say by hook or crook, BJP will form government in
any state of India. And this is 100% sure. All the funds they utilized was
the funds received during the earthquake in Gujarat when BJP government was
in power at the centre.

In Gujarat, people lost everything and still what promised to them is not
done yet.

Do you think in our tiny Goa, government and MLAs are helping all of us? No.
not at all, these MLAs are fighting only for themselves and their families.
Their intention is only to make MONEY. You and I have to work hard to
develop our houses and infrastructure.

Look at the roads of Goa, during monsoon season, they all washed away. Hot
mix tar roads with the use of Kerosene are all gone and pot holes are seen
everywhere.

Electricity - these days everywhere we lack of electricity. Why do we have
our own electricity in Goa? Since liberation of Goa and till today, we buy
electricity from our neighbouring states and why? What a loss of
income...? Mineral ore is finished by the non-goans like DEMPO,
SALGAOKARs, TIMBLO's, CHOWGULE's etc. They became multi-millionaires in Goa.
Do you seen anytime these rich people help our state of Goa? Do they invest
anytime for the development and infrastructure of Goa? And the Answer is No.
These non-goans are against Goa and wants to destroy it forever. One of
their member is now enter in the politics and elected as the member of the
Goa's Assembly, wants the portfolio PWD, because mineral ore is getting
finished and with PWD portfolio, he will able to make more money what is
lost.

Everybody is upset the way CM Digamber Kamat had distributed the Portfolio's
in his government. As for me I am totally agree with CM Digamber Kamat.
Every public is upset the Portfolio of Home Ministry given to Ravi Naik and
Finance Ministry given to D. Narvekar. Is there any wrong? No, not all, it
is only in Indian Stated these portfolio's are been kept by the CM, but in
foreign states it is allocated to other ministers. We have to change the
Goan political system.

Ban for life and disqualify the MLAs who change side to another for the sake
of money. Pass a Bill in the Goa's Assembly that any MLAs can elect on twice
and allowed to sit in the Assembly.

My humble request to all the citizens of Goa to stand united and punished
the MLAs who found guilty and filed a case with Consumer Forum Court.

[Goanet] Not new, Manohar

International Cuisine Conference on Traditional Asian Diet
Panaji, Goa, September 2-5, 2007 - http://www.indologygoa.in

Not new, Manohar
Yes, it would be
very pertinent to ask Manohar Parrikar's reply to the question posed
by Minister of Finance Dayanand Narverkar as to where the money is
coming from to fund the Goa Democratic Alliance's constant jamborees to
the capital. It would also be very pertinent if Manohar Parrikar could
answer the list of questions that the Congress has put forward and it
would be also important if Manohar would be able to substantiate his
arguments with documents, especially with regards the payment for the
trips to Delhi. If it is from the BJP party coffers then show the
people of Goa but if it is from some other party or perhaps from
another MLA show us or even if it is from a private company say a
construction company, the people of Goa would appreciate an answer.
Because judging by the number of trips, over four till date and where
the GDA is staying the so called clean image of the GDA is beginning to
tarnish at the edges.
There is no denying that people in Goa take
whatever Manohar Parrikar is saying with a pinch of salt and that is
because he has never stuck to his statements. In 2005 he wanted to
finish Babush, now he is joining hands with him. Prior to the elections
Manohar Parrikar adamantly stated that the BJP would not tie up with
any party. Then why is he cosying up to the Save Goa Front and others.
And his assertion that he is doing so because he wants to provide good
governance to the people of Goa is something the people of Goa have
seen through.
Yes, the people of Goa have seen through his moves
just as they woke up to his nefarious designs in 2000 when he suddenly
pulled the rug from under the Francisco Sardinha government. Then it
was the same situation as it is today. Manohar Parrikar in 2000
supported a minority government, today it is coalition of so called
like minded people. In 2000, he suddenly withdrew support when Sardinha
was in Australia and today Goa watchs's Manohar at his humble best
offering the Chief Ministers chair to Churchill Alemao. Then Manohar
was all smiles and eager to save the people of Goa from the corrupt
Congress, today he is the same white knight in shinning armour. Sadly
Manohar the people have seen through this ruse.
But if Manohar is
determined to impress upon the people of Goa could he answer a few
questions. Namely when did this sudden influx of rave parties and under
which constituency did it start. Manohar, give Francisco some credit.
When Francisco heard of the destruction caused by a private party for
the millennium celebrations he stopped it immediately. Did you do the
same for the rave parties at Siolim and Anjuna? Did your MLA do
anything? What about the migrant problem - can you Manoharbab explain
to the people who was responsible for bringing them in? And lastly who
wasted a lot of tax payers money on consultants and projects for the
International Film Festival of India. Yes, Manoharbab please explain to
the people of Goa, did you listen to the people and rescind any
decision. No. And this is what the people of Goa will not forget the
double standards that are being adopted and they have seen the same
tricks being played this time - albeit with different actors in the
ring.
Bad move
How does any organization ever expect to get any work done or for that
matter plan
any
long term project when its commissioners are constantly changed? The
recent transfer of Elvis Gomes from the post of commissioner of the
Corporation of the City of Panjim is yet another example of short
sightedness. Was the Commissioner given sufficient time to plan and
implement any of his ideas? Or for that matter was the Commissioner
give time to study the problems facing the city and draw up an action
plan? Panjim is facing many problems ranging from the disposal of
garbage to parking problems. Has the CCP drawn up any plan to solve
these problems or will they wait for a new commissioner to come by and
wait for his suggestions? With each passing day the problems mount and
without a proper person at the helm nothing will be done? And if these
musical chairs it is more than obvious that somebody does not want
Panjims problems to go away.

Dear Goanetters

The below appeared in this week's Goan Observer -- Thought i would share with
you all --

IMMORTAL PRINCESS
ON my strongest recommendation, I recently had a colleague from London visited
Goa along with his fiancée. There were many pictures they brought back, and one
that stood out was of the Candolim beach, along with the nasty dark black mole
on the face of the beach - the River Princess!
It has been more than five long years that this ugly princess has been sitting
and destroying the scenic beauty of the famous beach. No government, however
committed to the aam aadmi, has had the guts to remove it. There have been many
tourism ministers and many chief ministers who have come and gone, and nobody
has attempted to remove the River Princess in earnest.
I remember the old fox, Dr Willy, made many statements and set up record
deadlines in the media for the removal of this grounded ship, but all were mere
gimmicks to fool the people of Goa.
Now the political equation has changed drastically - Anil Salgaocar, the mass
polluter of Goa and the man who chartered the River Princess, is in a position
to make or break governments and chief ministers. Till date, neither the
current Chief Minister nor the Tourism Minister have come out with a strategy
to remove the grounded ship.
The ship is an eyesore and the government, despite its need to bank on the
support of Anil Salgaocar, must come out with a concrete plan to remove this
ugly sight from this picturesque Candolim Beach.
Also, applause of shame to the Candolim MLA and its Panchayat — You have sold
out! And you have been bought over!

Just to make assurances doubly sure, I ran a software, whichinformed
me that Bhandari and Chari are one and the same and mostprobably
female. Bhandare as we know, is working in I.T., in chickencountry.
Probably Bhandari is his (Bhandare's) wife...but mostcertainly a
female, who also uses the name Kalmash Chari.

I am sure Bhandare is embarrassed that Bhandari is spewing,

PANAJI: Goa has become first state in the country to have attained the
zero revenue deficit status, with the tiny state touching Rs 141 crore
plus revenue figure for the last financial year.

"The revenue deficit was Rs 21 crore for 2005-06," state finance

He said buoyancy in the revenue stemmed from increase in sales tax, VAT,

In the wake of the killings of the Hindi-speaking people, particularly
Biharis, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had sought immediate
intervention of the Centre to ensure their safety.
It is not for the first time that Hindi-speaking people, several of
them from Bihar, have fallen to mindless sectarian violence in Assam.

Hi All,
Similar stories appear in Indian National newspapers all the time.
Where were/are the RSS when the Hindi speaking people need them?

Yet they were handy and gave gallons of Blood when Chrisitan Priests
fell in the ditch and died.
This is not fiction:
The RSS 'are' chasing the Christian Priests,
The RSS 'are' responsible for the accident that caused the Priests to
meet with an accident,
The RSS 'were' there to cause the accident in the first place that
killed the Christian Priests.

Monserrette withdraws support from BJP-led alliance

Panaji, Aug 13: The United Goan Democratic party legislator Atansio
Monserrette today withdrew support from BJP-led Goa Democratic Alliance.

Monserrette extended his support to the Congress-led Digamber Kamat
government.

Monserrette, in his letter to the Governor, said that he is supporting
the Congress-led formation to end the 'political instability' in the
politically troubled state.

The move has provided relief to the Kamat government as its chances of
survival strengthened with the Congress camp now holding the support of
20 legislators.

The GDA is only left with 19 MLAs in the 40-member Goa Assembly.

Kamat-led front has 15 Congress, three NCP, an independent and a UGDP
legislator on its side while the GDA has the support of fourteen BJP
MLAs, two Save Goa Front, one independent and two MLAs of
Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).

However, the fate of rebel Congress legislator Victoria Fernandes hangs
in balance as her resignation as member of legislative assembly is yet
to be accepted by the Speaker.

RESPONSE: This something that Selma and several others had figured
out. Just to make assurances doubly sure, I ran a software, which
informed me that Bhandari and Chari are one and the same and most
probably female. Bhandare as we know, is working in I.T., in chicken
country. Probably Bhandari is his (Bhandare's) wife...but most
certainly a female, who also uses the name Kalmash Chari.

I am sure Bhandare is embarrassed that Bhandari is spewing, such
bleating imploring posts. I would like to think, that there are many,
more than savvy people on Goanet, who rightly saw right through the
machinations of the RSS bigots and their modus operandi. Trying to win
hearts and minds, as well as sympathy for the utterly despicable RSS.

The RSS have an ideology..this ideology is a Hindustan Country, for
Hindus. All other Religions have to conform or get annihilated or get
out!

RESPONSE: The Americans bought the old London Bridge; This was the one
made famous in the Children's nursery rhyme, London bridge is falling
down. In the olden days there were actually houses built on the
bridge.

There are many bridges across the Thames but only one that is called
London Bridge. It links the City of London to the Southside at London
Bridge station, shortly London's tallest building will come up there.
I think Joe U.K. deliberately posted Tower Bridge, assuming that half
the people would call it 'London Bridge'.

The new London Bridge is also shown in the pics; quite nearby there is
also Blackfriars Bridge, where Roberto Calvi was found hanging
following the collapse of his Banco Ambrosiano, which it was alleged,
had links to the Catholic Church. Then there is Waterloo Bridge just
further along and the famous Westminster Bridge which is by the Palace
of Westminster ( Houses of Parliament). There is also a fairly new
built, footbridge which was swaying on completion and had to have
dampers put in place to solve the problem! Also shown in the pics.

The nearest bridge over the Thames for us in Wimbledon is Kingston
Bridge and Putney Bridge.

With the BJP staking claim to form the government in Goa, Goa is set to have
the best Qualified Chief Minister once again in IITian Engineer Manohar
Parrikar. This is significant because having a technocrat as Chief Minister
will attract a lot of foreign direct investments to Goa. This will spur
industrialization in Goa and redirect foreign investments from places like
Pune and Bangalore. Its upto Goans to realize the potential of such a move
and capitalize on the situation with an unified front.

This sounds too good to be true. If it indeed is, then it is definitely good
news and needs to be replicated on a larger scale especially in Gujarat where
much healing is the need of the hour. At the same time, I would prefer to have
this info collaborated by some independent source or even the victims
themselves. The sangh parivar has been notorious for creating spins. The late
Vithal Gadgil who lived in the RSS stronghold and who knew them intimately,
used to call the RSS - rumour spreading society. The sangh parivar is very
media savvy and possesses excellent communication skills.eg: the campaign
against Praibha Patil which contained half truths and outright lies(refer
article in Outlook magazine). The sangh parivar has cultivated journalists and
pampered them. eg: Chandan Mitra of Pioneer who was a nobody before he cosied
up to the BJP, Balbir Punj, Dinanath Mishra, M V Kamath, Swapan Dasgupta.

The sangh parivar which is a great admirer of Hitler and the nazi ideology has
also learnt a lot from its propaganda chief Goebells. Goebells used to say that
if you repeat a lie a thousand times it becomes the truth. The sangh parivar
has used this to great effect in the past. The sangh parivar has also used
modern technology to great effect like sending out sms' through the mobile
phone network, emails through the internet. The Congress is largely living in
the past and has yet to catch up with modern technology. As for the left, their
mindset is the greatest barrier to progress.

Anyway, if the RSS multplies its good works and gives up its pet agenda of hate
and violence, it will be a big blessing for all of us. We can then look forward
to nation building and channellise all our energies into productive purposes.

Cheers!

Marshall

It has been quite entertaining following the exchange on this subject
from the sidelines.

The only source that is presented for this story is Organiser, the RSS
mouthpiece, which is hardly a epitome of accurate journalism. (The
newindpress story whose URL is supplied credits no source other than
Organise. No other mediaperson or media organisation has corrobarated
this story. That, of course, is because they ALL belong to the "secular

This is the same outfit that discovered scientific evidence for the Ram

Treat this claim similarly. Soon it will be 'a question of faith',

RESPONSE:

Mr. Floriano,

I am not defending anyone, nor i agree with your comment of RSS being
communal.
If they were, then wouldn't have promptly reached the places of natural
disaster, calamities or any other incidents taking places in India, without
anyone asking for their help. It just shows the volunteer present in them.
Its upto you to name anyone as communal or secular. When they rescue anyone
from such calamities, they are least bothered about their caste, religion,
nationality...etc..etc... So i cant find any communalism in them looking at
their readiness to help out victims.
Also i don't want you or anyone to defend RSS, but their voluntary work
should not be made a subject of laughter.
Secondly, is it the Thumb rule that each and every incident taking place,
should get the focus of media or become a part of Headline?
Are all incidents published in the newspapers, or are covered on news
channels?
If some incidents fail get the proper attention of media, do you disagree to
what has happened? Is it so?

Dear Kamalaksh Chari,
It is of course scientifically possible that Mr.
Bhandare has been cloned and that you are it, but I
will not go there. Let me just say that the two of you
sound much alike.
I tried to get 90 Christian priests to climb into a
single truck, but though I could find a large truck I
had trouble rounding up 90 Christian priests who would
all be willing to be together at one time. Even
telling them it was a wedding/marriage party did not
help.
However, let us suppose that 90 Christian priests
did climb into a truck together to attend a marriage
party, and then felt it was safe to go through RSS
territory. Surprise! The truck had an accident and 10
of the priests died.
Now it is the law in India---has been for some
decades---that all deaths should be registered with
the proper authorities. Could you or Mr. Bhandare or
the RSS or the New Ind Press or whatever please
publish the names of those who died, as I would like
to inform the next of kin?
Your cooperation in this humanitarian enterprise
will be greatly appreciated. No doubt the death
certificates will also describe the cause of death and
the exact location of the accident.
   With very best regards,
   Victor (Rangel-Ribeiro)

[Goanet] "TAVKULLEACHI RACE" (Race of Cassia Tora)

2007-08-13 Thread domnic fernandes

  http://www.GOANET.org

International Cuisine Conference on Traditional Asian Diet
Panaji, Goa, September 2-5, 2007 - http://www.indologygoa.in
  Online Media Partner: http://www.goanet.org

Taukullo or Tavkullo or Talkullo (Cassia Tora) is an herb plant which grows
abundantly like a weed in our properties in Goa during the months of July
and August. In some places, it grows wild, over a meter in height. In
Gaumvaddy, wild tavkullo grew in large patches behind late Krishna Porobo's
house. It was so big that when school-going children walked through it they
could hardly be seen!

Just like "Therem" (Colocasia), another herb plant, which also grows
everywhere in Goa during the monsoon season and which is used to prepare a
vegetable dish, people prepare a vegetable dish of tavkullo.

However, there is something very interesting about the tavkullo. During our
childhood, we used it in one of our games – "Tavkulleachi race" (Race of
Cassia Tora). The game was played by two persons. The rule was quite
simple: Two boys entered into the race. Each one was required to carry
tavkullo leaves at all times, which he had to present when his friend
approached him with a bunch of the plant. If he didn't have any leaves to
present, his friend would beat him on his legs with the bunch.

I was studying in Segundo Grau in Escola Primaria in Anjuna. I was eleven
years old. I had entered into "Tavkulleachi race" with Joao Luis (JL) from
Kuddchem Bhatt, Anjuna. That particular day, I forgot to carry tavkullo
leaves in my pocket/bag. JL caught me unaware and I had to run to a
tavkullo plant to pluck a leaf to present it to him. In the meantime, he
beat me quite badly on both my legs.  I knew I was at fault; I had failed;
hence, I kept quiet.

After a fortnight, I picked up a matured bunch of "xengancho tavkullo"
(cassia tora with sickles), fastened the bunch tightly with a "sutli"
(cord), hid it in my bag and approached JL. When I removed the bunch from
my bag, JL didn't have any leaves to present; I beat him until both his legs
turned bluish. JL finally reached a tavkullo but it was too late. From
that day onwards both of us became bitter enemies.

Poor JL passed away about five years ago. He died of gangrene. He was
employed in Dubai. He had suffered a little cut on one of his toes on the
job in Dubai. He was a diabetic patient. He was at his new home in
Gaumvaddy. Although my nephew, Dr. Caraciolo aka Dr. Nazareth, called him
to the GMC to have the finger chopped off, he didn't listen to him; instead,
he went about seeking religious healing, which did not save him. He
succumbed to gangrene. May his soul rest in peace!

That’s all for now from Dom’s antique shelf!

Happy Independence day

In a place like Goa,money can buy the votes to get elected as M.L.A's,M.P's
etc.Money can buy the M.L.A's to form and pull down the government.Money can
turn the illegal into legal and vice-versa.Money can be utilized to use the
Police to harass the Innocent's if they try to expose the rich and the
powerful.Money can buy the kind of jobs one wants although he/she might not
be the deserving candidate and so on.

Crores of rupees were offered to some of our beloved legislators as per
their statements on the local dailies.Who offered them the money? From where
the money came from? Are there any authorities to look after such matters? Are
there any laws to book the culprits who are involved in such controversies
or the same money can be used to solve such controversies?

The one time very beautiful state of Goa was ruined and looted like
anything. Our Virgin beaches like Palolem,Agonda etc. are miserably raped
during day light and some of our beloved power-hungry politicians are
talking about saving Goa.There is not much difference between a prostitute
and a goan politicians. At least a prostitute has some status but our beloved
politicians are son cheap that there is no bad word available in the
dictionary which suits them.

On the day of our independence these same dirty politicians will hoist our
holy tri-colour and we the general public will clap our hands.Let's continue
with our behavior and march towards destruction in the name of development.

Viva Goa.

Dear Pravin,

I am in total agreement with you. Regressive fundamentalism of any kind whether
Hindutva (as in Gujarat) or Muslim (Hyderabad) needs to be curbed.

Cheers!

Pravin, Pravin,
I know, I know.
I enjoyed your posting, therefore the response.
I have only corrected you on George wearing the nite-wear and not a day
robe.
Keep up the good spirit.

Gabe, I was quite happy to support her with my vote, but I object to
Nerissa describing herself as a "Goan citizen and a Luso descendant"

Goa is not a country and unless one of her parents is Portuguese, she
is not a Luso descendant either. We Goans had no ethnic or
genealogical relationship with the Portuguese.

Ours was a purely a socio-political relationship that except for
Portuguese citizenship still being offered to Goans, broke off in
1961.

We may look back on the pre-1961 era with fondness, but to fool
ourselves and our children that we are Luso descendants is utter
tripe.

Roland.
