[Goanet] CASTEISM IN THE CHURCH

2009-03-02 Thread Dr. U. G. Barad
CBCI GENERAL BODY MEETING - SPECIAL

Minutes of the meeting held in Varanasi from March 21 to 28, 1998

CATHOLIC INDIA

Page no. 98

CASTEISM IN THE CHURCH:

Christianity is not a caste religion. Church is the people of God and all
the people are equal before God. The various Churches are also equal. There
may be elder sisters and younger sisters among the churches but no superior
and inferior. But it is a sad fact that caste system on which social
organization has been built, has entered into the Church of India. The
depressed classes of people belonging to the lowest level of the caste
hierarchy were known as 'harijans'. Today the term Dalits is used to denote
them. Literally the word means the weak, the broken the oppressed. In the
Church today then name 'Dalit Christians' is used to denote Christians of
scheduled caste origin.

The problem of the Dalit Christians has come to focus today. The Dalit
Christians are in fact discriminated by the government and the Churches.

The rights and privileges given to the Dalits by the Government are denied
to the Christian Dalits because they were converted to Christianity. It is a
pity that in the Church also the Dalit Christians are discriminated because
they are 'low caste or out castes'.

In recent years the problem of the Dalit Christians is brought to the
attention of the Church and the state. It seems that the Church has not
offered opportunities to the Dalit members to come up educationally and
socially. As a result even after hundreds of years of their existence in the
church, they remain on the periphery of the community. There are few priests
and leaders of the Church and from the Dalit section. In the states of Tamil
Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar where majority of the Christians are
Dalits this problem is seriously felt. According to the reports 70% of the
Tamil Catholics are Dalits. It is reported that out of 14 Bishops in TN only
one is a Dalit. The percentage of Tamil priests are only 4%.

There is no significant steps taken by the Church till recently to lift the
socio-economic condition of the Dalits. Vocation from Dalit Christians have
not been encouraged. A dalit priest's feelings have been expressed in the
following words: 'We do understand that vocation is from God, but it boggles
our mind why He should choose His priests from non-Dalit only. Is God too
casteist? Does he also practice untouchability?

[Goanet] KOSAMBI FESTIVAL OF IDEAS 2009

2009-03-02 Thread John Gomes
I must congratulate the organisers for organising and bringing in just the
right speakers to guide us in these turbulent times. Very briefly, Rajdeep(
CNN-IBN) cautioned on excessive government control and manipulation of the
Media ,Nandan (Infosys) scrupously avoided mentioning politicians and
governance.( In fact when he was asked why the people of Goa have objections to
Industrialisation, Casino culture etc he pointedly stated ask
your government!).Dr Guha (Historian and Intellectual) boldly stated it like it
is, why India is the most interesting and exasperating country in the
world. This talk should have been compulsory for our politicians and
bureaucrats. He was forthright like our retiring Lok Sabha speaker
Chatterjee. The best speaker ( who had comparatively the least audience) was
Expert on Urban planning Jaime Lerner. Absolutely down to earth, hands on
grassroots man ,who found his town being destroyed by the policies of his
government.Nobody would listen to this Architects simple ideas,
so he even became a garbage collector worker, ran for Mayor so he
could implement his ideas , became governor, eventually world famous and
consultant to UNO for Urban planning. He said 1)  A model city is possible with
limited budget 2) Different from today's planning,he advised  not to be afraid
to keep it simple.GIVE ROOM TO PEOPLE TO CORRECT YOU.DO NOT THINK YOU HAVE ALL
THE ANSWERS.This he emphasised is the key.3)For participatory planning to
work, start with ideas that majority can understand and is desirable. It should
be creative with sustainability in mind. 4)You get creativity when you cut zero
from your budget, sustainability when you cut two zeros from your budget! Our
builders,Industrialists and politicians should be quoting this and not out of
context excerpts from the other speakers to justify Business as Usual. Mr.
Lerner gave concrete examples of how he achieved a Happy Quotient for all
concerned in  Curitaba (Brazil)
and got the Kala audience to sing to  hisYou Can Do IT.These
Kosambi lectures should serve as an eye opener  to our government and warning
to our Town and Country Planners for a balanced Development Plan where greed
and corruption are sought to be minimised, and from the elaborate exercise of
formulating RP 2021 ,  hopefully will emerge a win win policy worthy of the
beautiful land and people of Goa.

Roland Francis,
I really enjoy reading your observations of Goan life in Toronto. They are a
riot!
Your observations on other cultures in multi-cultural Toronto are funny too,
if viewed from a certain stand point.

I want to congratulate you for writing about what Africa means to the
average US or Canadian black.  And especially so since you were more eager
(comfortable?) displaying your depth of this topic rather than, say, the topic
of what
Goa means to the average US or Canadian brown.

Since you did not take long to reach the situation where you post something one
day
and then are forced to correct it the next morning, I look forward to more
frequent post
and correct operations from you.

I hope I can avoid unnecessary controversy on this issue.

You publicly claimed on this net group the following;
I am not an angel of God sent on earth to say I love everybody.

Since you have made it absolutely clear to all NOT to expect love from you, can
you clarify
what exactly should we expect from you i.e. apart from the unnecessary
controversy that
you attract?

Lastly, it is always fascinating to read a different view on topic's where
there is no correct answer.
However, a view point only holds value if it is backed by numbers or facts.
When facts and numbers
are of no importance, so, in my opinion, is the view point.

I am pasting below something that I got last night:
Roland Francis said,  55% of Toronto residents are first or second generation
immigrants. Of
the Christian Torontonians, fully half are Roman Catholic.
Nonsense.     The 2006 census makes it clear,
33.4% CATHOLICS,
14% other Christian beliefs,
36% other religious beliefs and
17% with no religious beliefs.

Catholics make up two thirds of Christian Torontonians. It IS a big difference
whenever numbers matter.

[Goanet] Calangute Panchayat and neighbouring villages

2009-03-02 Thread cyril D'Souza
To,
The Editor
Herald
Panjim
Goa

Dear Sir,

Subject : Calangute panchayat and neighbouing villages

This is with reference to the newsitem in Herald dated 2nd March titled
Calangute Panchayat the richest in Goa . Firstly let me congratulate Mr.
Joseph Sequeira our dynamic sarpanch for the developments he and his
panchmembers have undertaken in Calangute . The most significant development
is the Poriat football ground the villagers can be proud of and of course
his excellent garbage disposal scheme his panchayat undertakes tirelessly
everyday .
Though I now am a resident of Calangute for over 15years my ancestral
village is neighbouring Saligao and whenever I visit my relatives there they
have a lot to complain about the garbage dumping that takes place daily at
the hill ontop of their village . Incidentally the area where the garbage is
dumped lies in Calangute jurisdiction but the percolation and pollution is
borne unfortunately by the Saligao villagers. The air and water pollution
especially during the monsoons can be felt in those areas of Saligao that
lie at the foot of the plateau where the garbage is dumped .

If the Calangute Panchayat is earning an average revenue of 3 crores I think
it is time that they also solve the problems of the neighbouring villages .
Saligao is begining to face a massive problem of garbage from within the
village itself and lack of funds limits the ability of the Saligao Panchayat
to address this problem. I would like to request Mr. Joseph Sequeira to look
into the matter and atleast help the village of Saligao tide over its
garbage problem . Maybe he can have the garbage van collect garbage from
Saligao atleast twicce a week . For this the Saligaokars can coordinate with
him to ascertain certain pickup points.

Benefits should percolate to neighbouring villages as well ,as
infrastructure for tourism is also provided by other villages for example
there is a new road being proposed via Saligao hill to tide over the traffic
congestion due to increase in tourist traffic.

If not I request the Government authorities to try and merge the above two
panchayats along with one or two more affected villages to give them a
municipality status where the development can be broadbased benefitting all
villages.

I think it is high time the above affected villages come together on the
above urgent matter.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,

Re: [Goanet] Global warming: A cause for concern

2009-03-02 Thread Santosh Helekar

The problem with the post below again is that it does not cite any original
scientific source. The only sources it cites are political and ideological in
nature. They are:

http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.BlogsContentRecord_id=84E9E44A-802A-23AD-493A-B35D0842FED8;

and

http://heartland.temp.siteexecutive.com/pdf/22835.pdf;

The first is a Republican senator's blog, and the second a document provided by
a socio-economic policy institute whose mission is clarified in the following
statement:

Heartland's mission is to discover, develop, and promote free-market solutions
to social and economic problems.

Now whom would you trust on the subject of climate science? The work of the
majority of world's climate scientists and the science academies of their
countries or a U.S. senator and some sociologists and economists of a public
policy institute?

The fact that the material from the latter political and ideological sources
cannot be trusted is clear from the following post which quotes excerpts that
misrepresent the work of Stephen Schwartz, and rely on casual sound bites of an
astronomer and a solar physicist from sensational websites and news items
rather than the published work of climate scientists in mainstream scientific
journals.

Please see below the Brookhaven National Laboratory website of Stephen Schwartz
to find out that he accepts the evidence indicating human involvement in
greenhouse gas emissions and global warming:
http://www.ecd.bnl.gov/steve/schwartz.html

On another front the speculative claim of a solar physicist that the sun's
activity is responsible for global warming has now been refuted by a number of
studies. Please`see for instance the following peer-reviewed scientific paper
from Stanford University:
http://www.pnas.org/content/104/10/3713.full

Here is the relevant excerpt:
Despite the direct response of the model to solar forcing, even large solar
irradiance change combined with realistic volcanic forcing over past centuries
could not explain the late 20th century warming without inclusion of greenhouse
gas forcing. Although solar and volcanic effects appear to dominate most of the
slow climate variations within the past thousand years, the impacts of
greenhouse gases have dominated since the second half of the last century.

Cheers,

Santosh

Re: [Goanet] Govt. by the people, for the rich powerful !

2009-03-02 Thread floriano

The one point agenda of the 10 year old Goa Su-Raj Party is to drive out the
national parties from the sacred soil of GOA, lock-stock and barrel.

The reasoning behind this is that the national parties are only interested
in Goa as their
watering hole since only 2 MPs Goa sends to the Parliament is chicken feed
for

these parties.

On the one hand, the Congress has been looting Goa with impunity by giving
Goans to understand that it is the sole protector of secularism can communal
harmony in Goa, while on the other hand, the BJP has managed to put Goans
against Goans through its communal ideology and has been no less of a looter

of Goa.

If anyone should feel the above is baseless, we want to know how and why.

Sub: Government by the people, for the rich and powerful.

The new ordinance to legalize Cidade de Goa’s illegal construction in the
wake of Supreme Court judgement is misdemeanour of the Congress Government.
Setting a precedent of such a magnitude will have colossal consequences and
this Government is accountable for this sacrilegious act on the people of
Goa, and in doing so has forfeited its right to rule.

We have seen similar instances in the past with regard to shorten the
fishing ban period by distributing solar prawns in the Assembly ; and the
hasty ordinance to the ‘Code of Communidade’ to save top government
officials escape the High Court ruling on Communidade plots. This decision
of the present Government is unthinkable, corrupt and only demonstrates
that, it works for the rich and powerful, while on the other hand is willing
to demolish coastal dwellings of traditional fishermen and local residents.

Judiciary is the forearm of Democracy, and the Government showing scant
respect for the Apex Court ruling, is an infringement on the fundamental
principles of rule of law. What moral right does this Government have, to
act on other illegalities when it sets a precedent of this kind? This also
leads to the question, why should aam admi only, abide by the law if
illegalities can be legalized by ordinances ?

Our present is in shambles, and with this chicanery Government there seems
to be no future for our State. ‘Right to recall’ elected representatives is
the only option left for good governance if at all, and must be ‘food for
thought’ for the younger generation.

Clearly another lesson for Goans to think ‘whom we vote’.

Bravo Geraldo,

Impressive post and I am sure it's come right from the heart of a true Goan. The
forty cobra's in our Assembly, unfortunately, elected by us, guard and protect
only the rich and the affluent. What and how much will they get from the poor
costal village folks like us compared to the truck loads from the miners,
builders and hoteliers ? The Aam Aadmi is just non existent on their agendas.

To save one hotel owned by a high flying miner, our pathetic, indefatigably
corrupt politicians hoodwinked the ordinance of the Supreme Court by amending a
114 year old land acquisition law overnight, where as the screams of Aam Aadmi
against mining, mega housing and CRZ does not produce any sound waves for our
insatiable politicians.

This is just the start of the law of the jungle, further on well get to see how
the rich and the powerful with the help of our incompetent corrupt politicians
gobble up the whole of Goa right before our very own eyes and we'll be left just
holding our tools with no place to pee.

I think it would be best for all Goa loving Goans come together and put up our
own candidates in the next election, I only hope and pray it will not be too
late by then.

[Goanet] Engaged Encounter Weekend in Goa

2009-03-02 Thread Valentine Anna Coelho
Dear Friends,
We wish all of you a Blessed Lenten Season.

ME Goa will be organizing a Engaged Encounter (EE) Weekend for couples
planning to marry within the next 6 months. this program is open to couples
of all faiths. It also open to couples who are newly married. The dates
scheduled are 27 to 29 March 09 at Dasya, Porvorim, Goa.

Please pray for the success of this weekend. We have not conducted an EE
weekend for the past 5 years after Fr. Osie got transferred to Bombay. Fr
Leslie has now very graciously agreed to help us out and so we are trying to
restart as couples who have experienced the weekend have been constantly
asking us to start once more.

Please pass on this message to your friends and relatives and if possible to
your Parish priest.

*Looking for information about a Catholic Engaged Encounter Weekend? *

Catholic Engaged Encounter is a weekend retreat away with other engaged
couples with plenty of time alone together to plan for a sacramental
marriage. It is designed to give couples planning marriage the opportunity
to dialogue honestly and intensively about their prospective lives
together-- their strengths and weaknesses, desires, ambitions, goals, their
attitudes about money, sex, children, family, their role in the church and
society--in a face to face way.

*What Happens on a Catholic Engaged Encounter Weekend?*

An atmosphere is created for the two of you to concentrate exclusively on
each other, free of the distractions, pressures and interruptions of daily
living – a time out away from home, friends, and wedding preparations.
There are no group dynamics or group therapy. It is a quiet weekend,
specifically designed to give you the opportunity to talk honestly and
intensively about your future together – an opportunity to discover a deeper
appreciation of your relationship and God's call to unite in a permanent
union, the Sacrament of Matrimony.

The weekend consists of a series of presentations beginning Friday evening
and ending Sunday afternoon. Led by a team of married couples and a priest,
the two of you are encouraged to talk privately with each other on many
aspects of marriage, always from the viewpoint of your own relationship.

Among the subjects you will have an opportunity to discuss with each other
are your ambitions, goals, attitudes about God, sex, money, children,
family, and your role in the church and community. Personal reflection and
couple discussion are the main focus of our weekend. Since each relationship
is in a different place, your private answers will be unique and special to
your relationship.

Through personal sharings, the members of the presenting team talk about
what the Sacrament of Matrimony means to them individually and the impact a
great marriage can have on the world. We will not tell you how to live your
life. Our stories are meant to encourage you to explore your own attitudes
and expectations. We will offer some good ideas and tools to help the two of
you to continue growing closer through the years.

*Why Should We Go on A Weekend?*

Our motto is a A wedding is a day, a marriage is a lifetime. Think of all
the preparation you have done for your career or job. Most us spend years
studying or learning. Think of the preparation taken for your wedding day.
Most people spend months planning and many dollars preparing for their
wedding. But how much time and effort do we spend preparing for what we hope
will last 50 or 60 years – our marriage?

Ask yourself this question, Am I willing to spend 44 hours devoted to
hearing ideas and learning skills that will help to make my marriage the
best it can be?

Contact the undersigned for more information.

Thank you and May God bless you.

Hi Mario,
You can quote as much as you like.
The Qur'an was NOT written in Arabic.
All that you have quoted and copied and pasted is a Translation.
The Qur'an as is related and followed by the Mislims today is a Translation

Therefore it is NOT a direct word of God but 'lost in translation word of God'.

Obama more analytical than Bush, says Gates

Mon, Mar 2 01:15 PM
Washington, Mar.2 (ANI): US Defense Secretary Robert Gates has said that he
finds President Barack Obama more analytical on issues than former President
George W Bush.
Speaking on NBC's Meet the Press, Gates said: It's hard to say. I think
probably President Obama is somewhat more analytical, and he makes sure he
hears from everybody in the room on an issue, and if they don't speak up, he
calls on them.
In contrast, President Bush didn't go out of his way to elicit input from those
in the room, Gates said.
Gates believes the possibility that the plan to withdraw all U.S. troops from
Iraq by the end of 2011 would change is fairly remote, but noted that
President Obama has the authority to alter the plan.
He also said that field commanders would have preferred keeping current troop
levels through the end of 2010.
Currently, all combat forces are expected to be out of Iraq by August 31, 2010,
with up to 50,000 troops remaining in advisory capacities.
Gates is the first Secretary of Defense to have served under presidents of both
parties. (ANI)

Dear Mervyn.

The religion question in the Canada Census is asked only once in 10
years. The last time it was asked was in the 2001 census. Therefore
there are no 2006 religion census figures as you have claimed.

See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_2006_Census

Secondly, the census does not break down the religion figures by city.

[Goanet] {Goanet] Watch what he does, not what he says

2009-03-02 Thread Mario Goveia
I recently had to take issue with an adoring Goanetter who claimed we needed a
leader like President Obama who tells it like it is.

Those who consider him The Messiah may not know this, but as recently as last
week, President Obama was promising, nay, vowing, that federal spending bills
he would sign would have no earmarks, which are individual spending amounts
slipped into bigger bills passed by Congress to benefit pet projects in the
lawmaker's district. Obviously, the more powerful the lawmaker the more he or
she can slip in. This is also known as pork barrel spending, a euphemism for
wasteful spending.

Now, not even a week later, he will sign a bill that has 8,600 earmarks in it
totalling US$7.7 Billion according to an independant watchdog group in his
continuing attempt to use vote bank politics.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/03/01/budget-chief-obama-sign-spending/

Excerpts:

President Barack Obama will break a campaign pledge and sign a budget bill
laden with millions in lawmakers' pet projects, administration officials said.

The House last week passed the measure that would keep the government running
through Sept. 30, when the federal budget year ends. Taxpayers for Common
Sense, a watchdog group, identified almost 8,600 specially sponsored projects
totaling $7.7 billion; Democrats say the number is $3.8 billion.

Either way, it is far more than Obama promised as a candidate.
[end of excerpts]

I have no idea any more when to believe anything the new President says and
when not to. Neither do any of his supporters.

The message in all this is: Watch what he does, not what he says.

2009-03-02 Thread Gilbert Lawrence
I noticed there were no responses on Goanet to the recent post, reprinted from
the London tabloid, referring to Scarlett's death.  Reading the article
carefully, the Englishman, who was an on-site factual witness, claims that
evidence for murder and specifically the method of murder / homicide is still
uncertain.  The scratch marks on the body does not lead to death or a charge of
murder.
Below is a local story.  It is similar to Scarlett's death from
INTOXICATION.  I am posting it, for young and old goanetters to appreciate
that intoxication can cause acute illness leading to death; in addition
to chronic illness and death. Combination of intoxicating agents can be an even

2009-03-02 Thread Joao Barros-Pereira
People who visit Goa on holiday appear to need rooms to stay in but don't
ever eat! As a result there is a great need to build only more and more
rooms, more hotels. But what about food?

Well, it can come from outside as Goa's agricultural land has to be sold to
builders or it would appear from the government's land use policy.

As shocking as it is true, Goa cannot boast of an agriculture college when
this sector can provide employment on a large scale if it is given its due
importance and support, such as, exclusive markets for farmers. But when
even the CM is sympathetic to the building lobby and anti-

agriculture, then there is little hope. Is he thinking of building an
agriculture college after all the agricultural land has been sold? Maybe.

With three schools moving out of Panaji (as reported in the media) why can't
these buildings be used to start an agriculture college as it is well
located and would be ideal for everyone in Goa. Now is the time to demand an
agriculture college or are we going to see a scenario where these three
buildings are going to be demolished and then replaced by hi-rise parking? I
can only hope not!

The problem with this claim is that the Bush administration and the big govt.
Republicans had full control of all houses of the government until 2006. We can
definitely say that the Democrats blocked reforms from 2006 onwards.
Bottom line: there is very little difference between the two parties. The US
needs a true reformer like Republican Ron Paul.

One of the biggest scandals in post-Liberation Goa is being

But where are the supposed keepers of Goan conscience?

Where is Aravind Bhatikar and his posse of Nitoll Jinn? But of
course, we need to give this a pass. After all, Digu and Timblo
are our pals.

Where is Datta Naik and the illegitimate baby he bought forth
and named Lok Shakti? Where is this baby's nanny Dr. Francisco

By the way, what is the status of Datta Naik's mega project in

What a tragedy for Goa to have such worthless coprophages

Re: [Goanet] Goa govt to Goans: Get lost!

2009-03-02 Thread goasuraj
These comments made me dive into my archives for something that I had
written a long time ago to re-enforce the point that Soter makes. It is the
Synopsis of the Writ Petition that I filed against the CRZ violations by 3
hotels in Calangute/Baga belt, 'Calypso', 'Estrela do Mar' and
'Fahrenheit's. It will be seen that I have departed from the set legalese of
putting together the synopsis. However, it is to be noted that cognizance of
the Petition was duly taken by the Honourable High Court of Bombay at Goa
and major portions of the CRZ violations by the 3 hotels have been razed
especial of the Calypso to the tune of crores of rupees.

Quote
IN THE HIGH COURT OF BOMBAY AT GOA
Writ Petition (PIL) NO. 3 of 2007
Shri. Floriano Lobo.. Petitioner
V/s
State of Goa and Others... Respondents.

Synopsis

The petitioner is a responsible citizen of Goa and has been consciously
following the various directives of the Honourable High Court of Bombay at
Goa with respect to various environmental aspects such as the pollution by
industries, garbage problems and mostly the rampant CRZ violations with or
without the active connivance /support by the various authorities who are
appointed by the Government to curb such violations.

This petition is a result of the petitioner having lost faith in the various
authorities where one has to run from pillar to post to get authentic
information regarding the developmental projects coming up in the CRZ areas
and by the fact that all attempts to get such vital information even through
the official Right to Information Act, 2005 are mostly frustrated.

To an ordinary citizen, who would want to respect and/or obey all laws rules
and regulations, openly seeing that corners are being cut everywhere,
rampantly, with total disregard to existing and enforceable laws, rules and
regulations, the only recourse left is to knock on the doors of the
Honourable High Court in the hope that the Honourable Justices will see it
fit if justice in this case is desired or not. Otherwise, it would be better
to disband all laws rules and regulations and let the citizens go about
doing things as they like and as they feel. In that case, the society at
large would have to seek its own level whether it wants to cross the line
into lawlessness or it wants to remain on the side of being an honourable
society adhering to the laws rules and regulations it would formulate to do
just that.

Your Lordships, this petitioner has done whatever that could be done within
the means available to himself and begs to be excused if he is found
wanting. The basic essence of 'common sense' that the laws rules and
regulations existing in this State or in this Country must make has been
lost and it would be the task at your lordship's very hands to restore it
back in its place.

This petition contains nothing but the frustrations of the petitioner with
the regulating authorities who choose to be blind even to the extent when
entire Goa is nothing but a huge hemorrhaging mass well on its way to its
grave.

If hope could resurrect Goa into being a well governed, orderly, peaceful
and harmonious State so that all citizens may live their lives in an orderly
manner, this petitioner would stick to this entity called hope.

End.

Rajan Parikar's from the heart comments may be much to the dislike of many
hypocrites. Anything not digestible to the hypocrites is conveniently
labeled BJP just like the controversy over the potrayal of slums in slumdog
millionaire. Our denial of the reality is strong. Goa is precariously poised
at this juncture. On one hand we have the Cidade issue, on the other is the
RP 2021, on another the Panchayat Bill, and the latest is the Notice
inviting Tender for Nuvem NH17 which has just been received. Are Goans
going to be happy producing more toilet paper in the form of memorandums?
Are we only going to be seen doing something by publishing booklets on
R(I)P 2021? or Are we going to put our foot down, come out on the roads not
to return home until this government backs out?
We have really stretched the art of good living beyond bounds whereby we
have have become a society that is senseless and boorish. We seem to have
stretched the idea of diplomacy in our dealings far too much. We sell the
people of Goa by night and walk around town claiming to be social activists
by day. For a social activist to profit from boat cruises the sound ban
needs to be relaxed. Ridiculous! Imagine the height of stupidity in the
comments of some Goans like Emiliano and Rosande on the Cidade issue. Just
because people are going to lose jobs does it mean that the illegal act must

[Goanet] Rupee to reach 60 to the US Dollar ?

2009-03-02 Thread Vivian A. DSouza
I am living in India while getting my income from the USA.
There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the current exchange rate
between the USA and India.  The Indian economy, while suffering the effects of
the worldwide recession is still in good shape.  I cannot imagine the rupee
sinking much further.  I will stash some
funds in rupees while the dollar is strong as a hedge against the dollar
sinking, which is
inevitable.
As for the US Economy and the US Treasury collapsing, this is wishful thinking
on Merwyn's part.  There are just too many countries with a stake in propping
up the US
dollar and the US Economy to let that happen  The fundamentals of the US
Economy are still strong.  The USA will weather this storm and come out
stronger (sound like Obama dont I ?)/  But the people of the USA needed this
reality check.  The freewheeling and free spending days are a thing of the
past.  Most folks in the USA, except perhaps those in the Medical field (for
now) are hurting badly.  They will learn a lesson from this Depression.
It is a Depression regardless of when the financial gurus reluctantly call it
that.

After hitching their hopes to a strong American economy, the world including
Canada, will have no one else to turn to.  The Chinese, despite their current
surfeit of dollars, have their own problems as their factories become idle with
slackening world demand, and a growing unemployment.

I predict that India will slowly but surely grow into an Economic powerhouse,
with its brains,
its entrepreneurial spirit and relatively younger population.  Some folks know
that and are trying to derail India with terror attacks, but India will
overcome these pinpricks and emerge stronger.

I think I get your drift.

As such, the data they release should not to be taken seriously. Roland, if
you want to claim that the govt
provides half baked data, hey, feel welcome to do so.

For those who ARE interested in the Statistics Canada numbers, here is a
summary:
The demographics of Toronto make Toronto one of the most multicultural cities
in the world.
Data released by Statistics Canada as part of the 2006 census indicates that
Toronto has surpassed
Miami (which held the record in 2004) in terms of the number of foreign-born
population within the city,
with 49.9% of the population of Toronto being foreign-born.

Secondly, the census does not break down the religion figures by city.

Wrong again!
Here are the quick numbers for Toronto:
Christianity is the largest faith group in the Toronto census metropolitan
area, with Roman Catholics
comprising 33.4% of the population. The Anglican Church and United Church of
Canada account for
6.9% each. Other religious groups include Islam (6.7%), Hinduism (4.1%),
Judaism (3.5%), Buddhism
(2.1%) and Sikhism (1.9%). 16.6% of the population have no religious
affiliation.

The info is from your favourite site, wikipedia. Here is the link.

Now I have a question for you. You had previously written on Goanet.
The population of the GTA is about 4 million souls of which Goans must be
about 70 to 80 thousand.
The Goan numbers are estimates.

Your estimated Goan numbers are pure fantasy.

Statscan pegs the GTA population at 5.5 million.

to have access to this.

People all over the world are going to be losing their jobs. It is going to
 be especially painful to those
who are linked to supplying the US with goods and services.

Comment:
Another great piece of inside information from the Goanet pundit. Only
person I know who takes current facts and passes them off as
predictions.

As far as the dollar is concerned, there is the possibility that the US
dollar and US treasuries will collapse
in the near future. The US is at the epicentre of the financial crises. It
 goes against logic that the
US dollar is still the strongest currency in the world. The strongest
 currency should be the one
of the country with the most savings.

Comment:
Thank God he said possibility. Must be the strong stuff wearing off.
Or maybe he is getting chary of his own statements. What logic is he
talking about? Would someone please do the man a favor and tell him
that if the US financial system crashes, so does the rest of the
world.

The strongest currency in the world should be the one with the most savings.

Now this is a biggie. Especially since the country with the most
savings per capita is Haiti (Reference: The genuine saving rate on
Chinese mainland was 25.5 percent and 21.4 percent in Hong Kong. In
this item, China is only next to the first place Haiti, while the
figure in United States is only 8.2 percent.)

Someone should recommend Letterman invite Mervyn for his Late Night
Show. With the Democratic Party mascot by his side.

[Goanet] Mining inside the Selaulim dam reservoir

2009-03-02 Thread sebastian Rodrigues

According to reports reaching from Curpem tow of the legislators of Goa
Legislative Assembly has began mining inside the Selaulim Water Dam in Samguem.
The Selaulim water dam supplies water to over 50% of Goa's population that
includes Salcete, Marmagoa and Quepem Talukas. South Goa tourism industry as
well as Margao City is dependent upon the water supply from Selaulim Water Dam.

Shantilal mining lease inside the water dam operated by Salgaonkar mining
company with India's third largest legislator Anil Salgaokar with declared
assets of whopping Rs.92 Crores - elected from Sanvordem Constituency in South
Goa - is one of the responsibly irresponsible of the Goa's MLAs that is
targeting Goa's Selaulim Dam.

The other colluding MLA is Joaquim Alemao who is also Goa's current Urban
Development Minister in Digambar Kamat Cabinet. He is a contrator to operate
Salgaokar's business through his firm Raissa mining company.

Salgaokar-Alemao mining nexus has been directing targeting the Selaulim dam
from the later half of the first week of February 2009. The operations has been
going on amidst tight private security and forest cover on the banks of Selauim
dam is already chopped down by this brutal action by the two MLAs and their
greed.

It is not yet clear as to what is their source of authority to target Selaulim
Dam in this heinous manner.

[Goanet] Quepem MLA is caught in the net of the Betul fishermen

2009-03-02 Thread Freddy Fernandes
Quepem MLA is caught in the net of the Betul fishermen

The Quepem MLA was invited to attend the Gram Sabha at Naqueri and was grilled
by the locals regarding the CRZ demolition notices, majority of whom were
fishermen from Betul. The question put forth by the public was If the
government is so bent on protecting the interests of one company, that it can
bring in an ordinance to modify the law to favour one individual, why can't it
do so to ensure that the livelihood of thousands of ordinary citizens is
protected ? A very valid question in the present circumstances. Over 8000
structures all over Goa are to be demolished. These over 8000 structures, do
they not belong to Goans ? Is it not the duty of the elected Government to
protect it's citizens or are, only the rich to be protected ? There about 73
fisherfolks in Betul who have been issued CRZ demolition notices.

Of course, unfortunately the people did push further when Mr Kavlekar promised
to lead a delegation to the CM's residence. My question to Mr. Kavlekar is,
which delegation did he take to the CM's residence when he proposed the Food
Park at Naqueri ? or Which delegation did he take to the CM's residence at the
time of his election ?

To do all the dirty things they do not need the support of the people but to do
some thing good for the people he needs to take a delegation to the CM's
residence !! My other question to Mr. Kavlekar is, was Mr. Kavlekar not aware
of this CRZ problem before and only needed the people to bring it to his notice
at the Gram Sabha ?

Why are all our politicians pretending to be deaf, dumb and blind ? Why is Aam
Aadmi being taken for granted ? What good has Mr. Kavlekar done for the People
of Quepem ? What has Mr. Kavlekar proposed or fought for during the very few
Assembly Sessions that he has attended ?

Mr. Kavlekar as an elected member of the Assembly you have an obligation to
protect your electorate come what may.

Re: [Goanet] Rupee to touch 60 Against the USD

2009-03-02 Thread marlon menezes

I agree with Jim that it is a crap shoot as far as betting against the US
dollar is concerned. All regions have their problems.
Regarding China's currency versus the USD, the Chinese do not want the dollar
devalued if they are going to fund the US deficit.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601009sid=a_dsDz145J_A
Whether they or the US can control this is uncertain.

There are already indications that America's credit rating is under pressure.
Within the AAA category, there are three sub categories, with the US (and UK)
now occupying the second tier of the AAA category.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment/ambroseevans_pritchard/4604826/High-debt-levels-endanger-Britains-AAA-credit-rating-for-first-time.html

I came across this blog that suggests that the risk premiums of US debt is now
worse than some US companies and even lower than that of France.
http://www.agorafinancial.com/afrude/2009/02/26/buy-fertilizer/

What is also revealing is the US bond rates. US 30 year bond rates seem to be
going up again, though its short term rates remain at 0%. This tells me for the
short term, investors continue to have faith in the US, but long term, the
increasing rates could portend a serious crisis of confidence if the US economy
does not recover. If that happens, we could see a catastrophic collapse in the
value of the US dollar.

All of this begs the question, where the heck does one put one's money these
days?

[Goanet] CROREPATI CARNIVAL AS REPORTED IN GOAN OBSERVER

2009-03-02 Thread mario rodrigues

Crorepati carnival Feb 21st, 2009 | Category: Cover Story, Lead Story

BY RAJAN NARAYAN
The Carnival of Loot and Plunder of politicians in power misusing and abusing
their authority for their private benefit is a 365-day phenomenon.
THE CROREPATI carnival continues with India Today listing five crorepati MLAs
in Goa among the richest politicians in the country. The survey of the richest
politicians in the country which appeared in the India Today issue dated
February 3, 2009, covered Members of Parliament, chief ministers and Members of
the Legislative Assembly. Even going by the income declared in the affidavits
that they submitted at the time of filing their nominations during the last
assembly elections, according to the survey, Goa has five crorepati Members of
the Legislative Assembly.

BABUSH ASSETS: Babush Monserrate’s mansions on the Dona Paula-Miramar bypass
(top left) and in Taleigao will have a market value of over Rs. 15 crores.
Heading the list of crorepati MLAs according to the India Today survey is the
controversial mine owner and contractor of the long abandoned River Princess
with an officially declared income of a whopping Rs. 91.4 crores. Indeed, Anil
Salgaocar ranks eight among the ten wealthiest politicians in the country -
just behind Anand Singh, the BJP MLA representing Vijaynagra in Karnataka and
M.A.M. Ramswamy, the industrialist and race horse baron who is a Janata dal
member of the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka. While Anil Salgaocar’s wealth does
not come as a surprise, considering his significant stake in the iron ore
export business in Goa (which witnessed a huge boom in the last five years),
the declared wealth of the other politicians in the list are obviously due to
the misuse and abuse of their very remunerative offices of profit.
Trailing far behind in terms of the declared assets of Rs. 91.4 crores
attributed to Anil Salgaocar independent MLA from Sanvordem is Babush
Monserrate, the independent MLA from Taleigao whose total declared assets are
shown at Rs. 15 crores in the India Today survey. This is obviously a gross
underestimate as, in his declaration to the returning officer, Babush
Monserrate had grossly undervalued the market price of his ancestral mansion in
Taleigao and his new mansion on the Dona Paula-Miramar bypass road in Panjim.
Besides these two properties, it is public knowledge that Monserrate owns
another plush mansion in the La Citadel colony in Dona Paula.
BABUSH LOOT
HE, or rather his son, is known to have bought the former Hotel Libdoran, which
is adjacent to the Monserrate mansion on the Dona Paula bypass. Babush has
also, in his declaration, admitted to owning several apartments and commercial
premises in Campal and Kamat Kinara. It is also rumoured that Babush Monserrate
has several floors in many buildings of owners to whom he granted a higher FAR
during his tenure as Town and Country Planning Minister, notably Shalom which
was allowed to go up to eight floors from the existing four floors during
Monserrate’s tenure. Monserrate has also admitted to having prime property in
Bangalore.
It has been repeatedly alleged that the principal source of his assets, which
are conservatively assessed at over Rs. 250 crores, came from the alleged
kickbacks he extorted during the preparation of the scrapped Regional Plan 2011
when land sharks were permitted to literally dictate the shape of the Regional
Plan for a hefty kickback. Indeed, if the market value of all of Babush’s
declared known assets, including his fleet of cars and fancy motorcycles, is
calculated it would far exceed the declared assets of the MLA from Sanvordem,
Anil Salgaocar.
RICHY RICH
ACCORDING to the India Today survey of the Assembly of the rich, the third
richest MLA in the state of Goa is the former chief minister and the present
speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Pratapsingh Raoji Rane, who represents the
Poriem constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Goa. Senior Rane’s declared
assets do not come as a surprise as he is known to be a wealthy man with a
flourishing farm in the Sattari taluka. Indeed Pratapsingh Rane has always
prided himself on being a successful farmer. Besides his farm house, senior
Rane is also known to own a bungalow in Altinho, a flat in Miramar and several
other properties. Presumably, since agricultural income is not taxable, the
probability is that senior Rane is worth much more than his declared assets. In
his official declaration, like all other politicians, Senior Rane has only
shown the depreciated book value of his various agricultural and non
agricultural properties and not the market value. Going by the fact that t
here has been a phenomenal increase in real estate prices, the assets of the
senior Rane are likely to be worth closer to Rs. 80 crores rather than the Rs,
8.9 crores he has declared in his affidavit on assets and liabilities at the
time of contesting the last general elections.

Mario observes:

When every government program is run inefficiently due to the lack of any

However, in Massachussets they have implemented a state-mandated and partially

care but is still built around private insurance and the private health care
system. I hope this is what you mean when you write, If govt follows some
recommendations,...

As a physician you must know about the rationing of health care in every single
payer system in the world, especially for serious illnesses. Many Canadians
who supposedly have free health care that they pay for through their taxes,
buy private insurance for treatment in the US for serious procedures for which
they are often put on waiting lists in Canada. See,

http://canadaonline.about.com/od/healthcarewaittimes/Wait_Times_for_Health_Care_in_Canada.htm

If such a system in implemented in the US and leads to rationing of serious

Lahore: Gunmen killed at least five people in an attack on the Sri Lankan
cricket team's bus on Tuesday as it drove to a stadium in the Pakistani city
of Lahore, according witnesses and cricket officials.

Sri Lankan media, quoting the sports minister, said five players received
minor injuries in the attack - Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan
Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavithana.

Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardena was slightly wounded in the foot, his
father told a local television station after speaking with him by telephone.

Pakistan television channels news channels said four people were killed.

A witness told reporters he believed two police commandos were killed along
with a regular policeman and a traffic warden. Shopkeeper Ahmed Ali said the
two police commandos had been driving behind the team bus when they were
hit.

It was a very heavy firing and I heard at least two explosions at the
time, said a witness who had been on his way to cover the test match
between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan only invited the Sri Lanka team to tour after India's team pulled
out with security concerns following the militant attacks on the Indian city
of Mumbai in November.

Re: [Goanet] Global warming: A cause for concern

2009-03-02 Thread Mario Goveia
Date: Mon, 2 Mar 2009 01:10:38 -0800 (PST)
From: Santosh Helekar chimbel...@yahoo.com

The problem with the post below again is that it does not cite any original
scientific source. The only sources it cites are political and ideological in
nature. They are:

http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.BlogsContentRecord_id=84E9E44A-802A-23AD-493A-B35D0842FED8;

and

http://heartland.temp.siteexecutive.com/pdf/22835.pdf;

The first is a Republican senator's blog, and the second a document provided by
a socio-economic policy institute whose mission is clarified in the following
statement:

Heartland's mission is to discover, develop, and promote free-market solutions
to social and economic problems.

Mario responds:

While I can understand Santosh's desire to try and discredit and demean and
demonize those who disagree with him, he has misrepresented both sources above,
for reasons that are not clear to me, other than the blatant promotion of a
particular ideology.

What he describes as a Republican Senator's blog does, in fact contain links to
numerous sources of peer-reviewed studies written by reputable and respected
scientists who disagree with Santosh's point of view.

For example, using information that anyone can see in the links above:

Quote:
“Anthropogenic (man-made) global warming bites the dust,” declared astronomer
Dr. Ian Wilson after reviewing the new study which has been accepted for
publication in the Journal of Geophysical Research. Another scientist said the
peer-reviewed study overturned “in one fell swoop” the climate fears promoted
by the UN and former Vice President Al Gore. The study entitled “Heat Capacity,
Time Constant, and Sensitivity of Earth’s Climate System,” was authored by
Brookhaven National Lab scientist Stephen Schwartz.
http://www.ecd.bnl.gov/steve/pubs/HeatCapacity.pdf
Unquote.

In the second case, Santosh insinuates that there is something wrong with,
Heartland's mission is to discover, develop, and promote free-market solutions
to social and economic problems. In the meantime, Santosh ignores what is
written in the Heartland report, and misrepresents who wrote the report and who
stands behind its findings.

Someone should ask Santosh why he is denying that many climate scientists
disagree with him, who is not a climate scientist.

Santosh wrote:

Now whom would you trust on the subject of climate science? The work of the
majority of world's climate scientists and the science academies of their
countries or a U.S. senator and some sociologists and economists of a public
policy institute?

Mario responds:

I think we should trust those who do not deny the truth, which is that there
are many scientists who disagree with the proponents of blaming humans for
climate change.

The issue is not whom would you trust? No one is suggesting we believe a US
Senator who is not a scientist. However, the Senator has provided information
from credible scientists, which shows that there is dissent in the scientific
community.

The issue, which Santosh somehow fails to see, is that there are hundreds of
scientists who disagree with him and those who agree with him.

In addition, the Heartland report was not written by sociologists and
economists of a public policy institute. as Santosh falsely alleges.

The Heartland report was compiled and edited by a scientist and professor of
Environmental Science:

S. Fred Singer
President, Science and Environmental Policy Project
Distinguished Research Professor, George Mason University
Professor Emeritus of Environmental Science, University of Virginia

Fred Singer writes, We regret that many advocates in the debate have chosen to
give up debating the science and now focus almost exclusively on questioning
the motives of ‘skeptics,’ name-calling, and ad hominem attacks. We view this
as a sign of desperation on their part, and a sign that the debate has shifted
toward climate realism.

Mario asks, Sound familiar?

The foreword of the report was written by a Past President of the National
Academy of Sciences and the American Physical Society:

Frederick Seitz
President Emeritus, Rockefeller University
Past President, National Academy of Sciences
Past President, American Physical Society
Chairman, Science and Environmental Policy

Frederick Seitz says, Our concern about the environment, going back some 40
years, has taught us important lessons. It is one thing to impose drastic
measures and harsh economic penalties when an environmental problem
is clear-cut and severe. It is foolish to do so when the problem is largely
hypothetical and not substantiated by observations. As NIPCC shows by offering
an independent, non-governmental ‘second opinion’ on the ‘global warming’
issue, we do not currently have any convincing evidence or observations of
significant climate change from
other than natural causes.

I would venture to say that such eminent scientists who are environmental
experts

Re: [Goanet] Rupee to touch 60 Against the USD

2009-03-02 Thread Jim Fernandes
Those of you who think the Indian rupee will go back to 39 Indian bucks against
the US dollar are dead wrong. Till such time the US recovers and Americans
invest back in India, the rupee is doomed to plow lower. Here's why:

The fact that the rupee even touched 39 against the USD is no mystery at all.
From the beginning of 2005, the western hedge funds and major financial
institutions around the world (referred to in India as FII's) began to build
equity positions in the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) economies. These
western investors (led mostly by Americans) were borrowing as much as 40 times
the initial investments and plowing this money into the stock markets in places
like India, driving their stocks to the moon. Of course much of the leveraged
funds went on to prop up the housing market to dizzying levels in the US and
Europe, but a significant portion also went into the Indian (and BRIC) stock
markets.

So when American funds want to invest in India, what is the first thing they
need? Of course, they need rupees. So they sell US dollars and buy rupees -
which in turn drives the value of the rupee higher (because of the higher
demand for the rupee in this situation). The rupee peaked in Jan 2008, just
around the time when the BSE sensex hit 21,000 points - from about 6000 points
in Jan 2005!

This crazy climb would have continued, had it not been for the unraveling of
the housing bust in the United States. The housing bust in the US set off a
chain reaction that resulted in the highly leveraged hedgies and big investors
to receive margin calls. So what was the first thing they did in the reverse
situation?

They began to dump their holdings in the BRIC stock markets (including India)
and repatriate their money back to the US, hoping they would be able to bring
down their leverage ratio and make good on their margin calls. So when you sell
the rupee to buy back the dollar, the value of the dollar obviously would have
to go up, leaving the poor rupee holding the bag!

Now, much of the foreign investments are zeroed out in the BRIC nations. So why
is the rupee still falling? The answer is very simple. It has been known for at
least two decades that the Indian rupee over a period of time, falls on average
about 3 to 4 percent a year against the USD. So whats happening right now is a
simple game of catch-up.

No rocket science this !!!

For better understanding, here are two simple charts - you may want to print
and super impose the two charts and see the relationship in plain sight. In the
year 2005 the USD did not fall much (as should have been the case) but I
believe this was because the hedgies were quietly cherry picking their
positions for a good 12 to 15 months.

I wouldn't bet against the USD, considering everybody else is suffering from

I do not believe the Yuan will fall against the USD regardless of the

 Jim F,
The suffering of this recession has only just started.
The people in pain now are:
a) Those who have already lost their jobs (in the US, this number increases
 by 700,000 people per month).
 and
b) The retired, who were depending on monthly dividends for their living
 expenses.

People all over the world are going to be losing their jobs. It is going to be
 especially painful to those
who are linked to supplying the US with goods and services.

As far as the dollar is concerned, there is the possibility that the US dollar
 and US treasuries will collapse
in the near future. The US is at the epicentre of the financial crises. It
 goes
 against logic that the
US dollar is still the strongest currency in the world. The strongest
 currency
 should be the one
of the country with the most savings.

As far as the Chinese Yuan is concerned, this cartoon from The Toronto Star,
 of
1st March, 2009, says it all.

Given the current situation, the Indian govenment is unlikely to spend

 forex reserves to
save the rupee from sliding more against the USD. For this reason, I
  believe
 the Indian rupee
will touch 55 in the short term and then go on to hit the 60

Dear Floriano

I have always will continue to appreciate, applaud, welcome, thank you GSRP
for all you'll did and are doing for Goa and Goans.

Thanks again for all the hardships, pains, running around you did and do for
Goa and Goans sake.

I know you cannot be a policemen for entire GOA, especially to Timblo who also
happens to be your friend and probably he may now drop the 500 crores charges
against seby. Good luck.

But, I am still NOT able to understand, If what Calypso, Estrela
'Fahrenheit's did was VIOLATIONS

If what the FISHERFOLKS did for the sake of their families is VIOLATIONS

Then what is it that CIDADE did that WAS VIOLATIONS and now IS NOT
VIOLATIONS.

EVERYONE acted in such a swift, smart, quiet, hush-hush manner to ensure
ORDINANCE is signed, sealed and delivered promptly, confidentially and on
schedule.

It appears that CIDADE is a BIG JOINT FAMILY and probably we can not only
find DOGS AND GOANS NOT ALLOWED ON THEIR PRIVATE BEACH , but we may also
probably find 'PIGS, FISHERFOLKS, GOANS NOT ALLOWED'

Time will tell.

I am not sure why my name is ANDREW. But going back 2000 years If Andrew was a
fishermen I am PROUD to say today that I , ANDREW, remain heart, body, mind
soul a FISHERMEN and will continue to be with them(FISHERFOLKS) but if I
myself can follow HIM and lead them to HIM HIS values teachings is a big
HOPE. HOPE and HOPING you are me with on this.

[Goanet] GOA IS A FAILED STATE

2009-03-02 Thread Bonefacio Lopes
Goans have failed Goa in everyway, each one for himself/herself and God for all.

Too many articles on paper, goanet, NGO's just come up and vanish , we like to
be seen on TV's answering questions , like to splashed on the newspapers etc
etc, but we have not really got together, unitedly, with a sincere heart and one
goal in mind to get rid of those who misuse power, against those who have
acquired wealth in negative ways, those politicians and those govt.officers who
have sold vast Goan land to many others and are flaunting their wealth direclty
or through their children, we will only stand , watch and complain never ready
to take up leadership, we are only followers , i think , hope and pray for a
miracle that the Good lord almighty sends an angel to save Goa and Goans, who
have not really cared for their motherland , who really don't know and
understand that a day is coming where we will be kicked out from our own
motherland and will have no place to stay ,as we are all running out of Goa for
greener pastures while others are coming in to sow and reap the green pastures
from Goa which we Goans do not want and cannot see it .

God bless Goans first and then Goa.

[Goanet] Are Muslims In India Appeased?

Hi Mario,
You can quote as much as you like.
The Qur'an was NOT written in Arabic.
All that you have quoted and copied and pasted is a Translation.
The Qur'an as is related and followed by the Mislims today is a Translation
from another language.
Therefore it is NOT?a direct?word of God but 'lost in translation word of God'.
THIS IS A FACT - CHECK IT OUT.
Just because you are a moderator you think you know it all.

Mario responds:

Edward,

I may be your worst nightmare, but you need to wake up and read posts before
responding to them:-)) Here, try again:-))

I think your comments should be addressed to Bosco, who certainly knows it all,
who is a moderator whose comments you are apparently addressing while putting
my name on it, :-))
