GBA/2011/060 1st Nov, 2011

Press Release

The GBA wishes to inform the public that it has uploaded the village plans
of Mormugao, Bardez, Tiswadi and Salcette on its website www.savegoa.com.
These are as provided by the TCP department and can be used as a quick
check for concerned persons and villages, especially in the time it takes
to receive the hard copies from the TCP Department.

In addition GBA has obtained copies of NOC’s given for construction based
on the old RP2001which was operational till the notification of the final
RP 2021. Proposed roads have been present in the earlier RP2001 and
continue to be a sore point with the current RP2021.

The NOC’s copies were given as the demand was made at the structured
meeting with the Chief Secretary and Town & Country Planning department in
August 2011. The NOC’s received cover Sanguem, Quepem and Bardez, while
more are awaited. Individuals interested in inspections may contact the GBA
on 707083.

A study of these may be instrumental in revealing any vested interests
regarding proposed roads, or other details for correction in the current
notified plans.

The GBA understands that the notified plan 2021 has superceded the outdated
RP2001, and seeks to demarcate clearly areas that are Eco-sensitive. In the
absence of the RP2021 the RP2001 will be in force. It is the responsibility
of the Village Panchayats & Village level committees to study this and make
efforts at correction of errors. The TCP Department must act quickly and in
transparency, seriously responding to the issue of proposed roads and the
problems they are creating in the villages before it clouds the positives
the new RP2021 has sought to make.

Stop Tomatina

It's really amazing how easily we get influenced by movies, thanks to GNMD a
"tomatina" war has now been declared in Goa by some "phoreen" bodies with the
help of our local tourism boys and girls. First it was our lovely virgin
culturally intertwined festivals like Carnival and Holi that were raped on the
commercial platform for the benefit of Tourism and now a Spanish culture is
being imposed on us and may I ask why ?

Goa is not even self sufficient in it's agricultural needs, we depend and
depend heavily on other states for our agricultural needs and consume and as
such we are paying a very high prices for even the most common ingredients of
our cooking and eating.

Tomatoes may not be our basic food, but still it's a food item and we pay a
price for it, so if the Authorities can waste tons of tomatoes for a festival
that is not even "desi" why can't they subsidize the prices of our basic food
items for the benefit of the common man ? Is it fair to give more importance to
tourists than the needs of the people ?

I am sure even in Goa we could find people who would be willing to live even on
tomatoes if they could only be within the reach of their pockets. Debauchery
may not be a crime in the book of laws but it is certainly a crime in the books
of humanity ?

It's nothing new for people with money, when they get bored to go to extreme
lengths to find themselves a fix, something that could give them a rush of
blood and they certainly come up with some vague and depraved ideas.

If Mr. Rahul Raj Singh wants to have fun with poor tomatina, let him do so on
his own fertile play grounds in Punjab where agriculture is the main profession
and if reports are right, the highest agricultural yield comes for his land, so
I am sure he will find a lot of support for his fix there.

In the fallacious games of the rich and the famous, the poor Goa Tourism
Department is always a willing puppet, sways and dances at their tune for a few
pieces of silver or even copper or even empty promises without even a thought
of logic or what they stand for or the consequences thereafter.

If the Authorities want to see our people smiling and happy, they should
subsidize the prices of essential commodities instead of wasting our recourses
to see smiles and happiness on the faces of tourists. I always say and I say it
again, our Authorities should get their priorities right.

Parrikar promises cheaper petrol if voted to power

TEAM HERALD teamherald@ herald- goa. com
MAPUSA: Making petrol cheaper by atleast Rs 12, sharing mining profits with
the people and reversal of cabinet decision on Medium of Instruction are the
three promises former chief minister Manohar Parrikar made today if his
government comes back to power in the next assembly elections.
Addressing the gathering at Mapusa, Parrrikar said the common man is today is
facing hardships due to rising fuel prices.
“ If BJP government is voted to power in the next assembly elections, I will
see to it that petrol becomes cheaper by atleast Rs 12 per litre within seven
days,” Parrikar said adding “ this is very much possible and we need not take
loan for this.” Parrikar also assured that the Rs 1000 cr revenue what the
state is getting through mining royalty will be shared with the people if his
party is voted to power.
Last but not the least, Parrikar announced that the very day his government
comes to power it will change the cabinet decision on medium of instruction.

*Dy Collector told to issue closure notices to those violating orders*

*GSPCB directives to Colva establishments*

*TEAM HERALD teamherald@ herald- goa. com* MARGAO: Acting tough against
erring hotels and establishments in Colva, district Collector, South
Sandeep Jacques has directed deputy Collector, Margao to go strictly by the
inspection report of the Pollution Control Board and move for closure of
those establishments or hotels not found complying with the directives,
even as the authorities continued inspection of the hotels and
establishments for the second day today, Taking serious note of the
discharge of sewage and waste water in the storm water drains, the district
Collector has directed the deputy Collector to issue necessary orders to
invoke relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code for closure of
the hotels and establishments not found complying with the directives of
the Goa State Pollution Control Board.

That’s not all. The Collector further directed the deputy Collector to
ensure that directions are also given to all the relevant government
departments to suspend/ cancel the licenses and permissions issued by them
to those def a u l t i• g establishments/ hotels including the
disconnection of water and electricity.

Incidentally, the district Collector had earlier directed the Salcete
Mamlatdar to initiate proceedings under section 133 of the CrPC against the
erring establishments.

It is learnt that the Mamlatdar has complied with the directives issued by
the Collector, but Jacques has further directed the Mamlatdar to take steps
to make the conditional orders absolute immediately if the nuisance still
persists.

Meanwhile, the inspection team headed by deputy Collector, Margao Dasharath
Redkar returned back to Colva for the second day today, and inspected
nearly half a dozen hotels and establishments to ascertain whether they
have complied with the directives or not.

Arwinbab,
It is a pity that the majority of Goans being so educated are still so naive in
our perception of the world. I think the old Konkani phrase Xincon Brut truly
applies to us, otherwise, we would be able to rectify the position mainly by
ejecting the current crop of Corrupt politicians and electing people who are
reputable and trustworthy to represent us. I know that we have been harping on
this point for a long time, but to no avail. I think that the only way we will
be able to awaken these sheepish sleeping Susegade Goans is by kicking their
backsides and awakening them from this sleep soon, before all is lost.

PANAJI: The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) at its General Body meeting
held on Monday approved the construction of football stadium at the
historic Bandodkar Ground at Campal.

“Yes, the SAG at its General Body meeting held today approved the
construction of football stadium at Campal,” Mr Gurudatta Bhakta,
Secretary of Goa Olympic Association, confirmed while speaking to this
daily on Monday.

“Besides, taking into consideration that Goa will be hosting Lusofonia
Games in 2013 and National Games in 2014, it has also approved the
construction of other stadiums in Pernem, Shiroda and at Goa
University Plateau,” he added.

A new stadium in judo and karate discipline is coming up at Pernem
while Shiroda and Goa University Plateau will have volleyball and
basketball stadiums respectively, it was informed.

Giving details about other important decisions that were taken during
the meeting, Mr Bhakta informed that SAG has decided to appoint 11 new
coaches besides regularising some of the existing coaches. “The
remuneration for the coaches has also been increased from ` 8,000 to `
12, 000,” he disclosed.

“SAG has also approved to bid for the 2018 Asian Beach Games, in which
45 nations will be participating,” Mr Bhakta said.
Asked whether SAG will meet the deadline to provide floodlights at the
Nehru stadium for the Zambia matches scheduled to be held in the last
week of November, Mr Bhakta sounded a bit apprehensive but suggested
that we all should be positive about it.

“The work has already begun, however, taking into consideration the
other factors like unseasonal rains, we can only remain positive about
its completion,” he said.

Meanwhile, welcoming the decision taken by the SAG, Panjim Sports
Festival Committee, Young Boys of Campal, JCI St Inez and Campal
Kaddint Boys will jointly organise a football tournament at the
historic Campal Grounds venue, beginning on December 17. Entry for the
Championship, which has been named as ‘Panjim Gold Cup’ will be open
to clubs, schools, colleges and other institutions. The championship
is being held with an ambitious aim to revive club culture and to
promote football in the capital city, particularly amongst the
youngsters.

Attractive cash prizes and trophies will be on offer. The SAG
Executive Director, Mr VM Prabhudesai has assured the organising clubs
that goal posts, ground levelling and other minor beautification works
will be carried out immediately after the completion of the
International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Further details on the
Football Championship may be obtained from Organising Secretary, Mr
Sandeep Heble.

Subject: Stop Tomatina: Meet The Saligao MLA @ His Office, Tomorrow, 2 Nov.

Dear Nettekars,

Earlier today, we spoke to Dilip Parulekar, the MLA of Saligao, about
the rotten *Tomatina Festival* that Rahul Raj Singh and his colleagues
at Magnum Opus Films, with the support of Spain consulate in Mumbai
and Goa’s Tourism department are threatening to hurl at us on November
5...a stone's throw away from his house!

As the MLA of the constituency, Mr. Parulekar also opposes such a
repulsive show of arrogance and total lack of sensitivity towards our
kitchens, the insane prices of tomatoes and vegetables in Goa
(...yesterday, we bought tomatoes in Saligao, @ Rs. 45/- a kg!), the
scarcity of food in general in the rest of India, as well as the
levels of malnutrition and the alarming number of starvation deaths in
the country.

He has invited interested citizens to meet him and chalk out a plan of
action to stop this disgraceful event in Goa.

Place:  MLA's Office, next to Saligao Super Market,
Date:  Tomorrow, 2 November, 2011.
Time:  10:30 am

Warm regards and solidarity.

All Souls Day (Alma Dis)
On this day, at our time, we used to listen to 3 masses one after another and
that too in the Cemetery.
And it was obligatory (not now anylonger).
We also made san'nas on this day.
Some even offered to the deads in a dish placed outside in the open on the
previous night i.e. midnight of Nov.1.
There were some spooky man-made incidents in the name of almas on the same night

Facebook tells Rahul bitter truth to his face OUR CORRESPONDENT 4th Sep,
2011 SUNDAY GUARDIAN
http://www.sunday-guardian.com/news/facebook-tells-rahul-bitter-truth-to-his
-face

This is one opinion poll that should worry the Congress. There is intense
opposition to Rahul Gandhi becoming Prime Minister within his target
constituency, the English-speaking computer-savvy youth. The idea has been
decisively rejected in a vote on Facebook.

One of the most popular polls on Facebook, being conducted by "MTV India"
over the last one week, asks the question: "Do you want Rahul Gandhi to be
the next Prime Minister of India?"

Till the time of going to print, 46,285 people (cumulative figure) were
saying "yes" to Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister, while those saying "no"
number a mammoth 365,940 (cumulative figure). 13,802 voters cannot make up
their mind about the Gandhi scion.

This means that 89% voted against Rahul Gandhi, while only 10.23% were in
favour. An inconsequential 3.23% could not make up their mind.

While 319,758 voters say a simple "no" to the question, 30,538 voters say no
"because he represents a corrupt government"; 11,345 voters say no "because
he does not have enough experience"; 4,299 voters have problems with him
"because he is half Indian".

38,756 voters say a simple "yes" to Rahul Gandhi; 5,359 voters say yes to
him "because he represents the youth"; 1,431 say yes to him "because there
are no corruption cases against him". And then there are 739 voters who say
yes to him "because he looks good and talks well".

The opinions expressed by Facebook users are quite categorical. The grammar
and spellings used by the voters have not been altered.

Anil Saxena, who voted "no", says, "Rahul has only one quality that he is
the son of Rajeev Gandhi and this quality is not enough for becoming the
Prime Minister of India".

Pankaj Tiwari, asks, "why is he in race at all He has no identity of his
own!! It's shame to even discuss this. Full stop."

Pallav Chaki wrote, "Just having meals in a village with poor people doesnot
make one trues leader ... such a person can only fool others emotionally
nothing much ... yes we Indians are great at heart and very sentimental
which may give this trick an upper edge!!! But such a leader can never be a
real leader and can only bring more tragedy to it's country men or be its
followers!!"

Pri Nce says, "never never never never".

Ramprasad Sreenivasan questions Rahul's ability to be Prime Minister:
"What are his qualifications? What are his qualities? Jst bcos he is a son
of ExPM, we are talking abt him. Has he ever demonstrated INDIANNESS? Has he
reached out to people when required? Has he talked any sense in any public
forums? Why are we even discussin him, am not sure."

Deepika Thakur, who answered "no", threatens to stop voting if Rahul Gandhi
becomes PM: "Waise toh ye kabhi nahi hogaagar ye ho gaya toh main vote
karna hi band kar dungi."

Aju Salim, one of those rare voters who answered "yes" among the 11,638 who
posted their comments, says, "Ya .. he is hope of the youth.better than
prakash carrot, karunanidhi, advani, modi and mayawati"

When questioned about the poll, Dr Tushar Amarsinh Chaudhary, Union Minister
of State for Road Transport and Highways, said, "Facebook is not India. We
have a population of 1.2 billion and not everybody follows social networking
websites like Facebook. Rahul Gandhi himself is focusing on strengthening
the party and has never gone to the media saying that he wants to be the
Prime Minister of India."

Sambit Swaraj, spokesperson of the Delhi unit of the BJP said, "The people
of India have finally awakened and understood that Rahul Gandhi cannot be
their future leader. The Anna Hazare anti-corruption movement united the
people against a corrupt government. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress have lost
yet another battle and do not deserve to rule this country in future."

1: GPM (goal post moving) is an excellent exercise for some.

2: There is a difference between apples and oranges.

3: There is a difference between clinical negligence cases (which is
usually termed a 'battle between expert witnesses) and other cases in
which physicians serve as 'material witnesses' or 'court accepted
expert witnesses'.

It is a fairly large and involved topic which I invite you (if you
wish) to read on your own. Besides, as in almost all cases of clinical
negligence, the facts determine the courts views. Incidentaly, in
common law jurisdictions, Bolam and it's update i.e. Bolitho are
the persuasive cases.

Now, unlike Santoshbab, I am no longer geared towards either providing
gratis sessions for those who are solely in GPM mode, or debating
with individuals who just might not be in the same academic or
practical league.

with the best of wishes

jc

Vigilance should be a contioeous process. It is a pity that, with so many eyes
peering into and surveiling transactions in the Government in order to ensure
transparency, there have not been prosecutions of the principal culprits. By
this I mean those in high positions who are the TAP ROOTS of all this
corruption. Or is it that we are only to be vigilant for this week and let the
scoundrals get away with Mass corruption with impunity during the rest of the

31st October,2011

PRESS RELEASE

Bailancho Saad takes strong objection to the holding of ‘Tomatina festival’
where tons of tomatoes will be hurled by 30,000 revelers , which has
resulted in sky rocketing prices of tomatoes, ranging from Rs 40 to Rs 50
a kilo. The event is being planned on 5th November in north Goa to promote
the Spanish festival.

While the women in Goa suffer from anemia and the children are
malnourished, as per government statistics, the State government is party
to the wastage of food. In North Goa alone, where the Tomatina is being
held, 500 groups have been registered as BPL(Below poverty line).

The Supreme Court had earlier issued guidelines to prevent wastage of
food, when the media brought to the fore rotting of food grains in
granaries, instead of reaching the poor through Public Distribution System .

On bringing to the notice of the Director of Public Grievances Mr Swapnil
Naik, who is also the Director of Tourism , by Bailancho Saad , Mr Naik
stated that the organizers had made private arrangements to buy tomatoes
from the farmers of Karnataka.

Mr Naik was informed that tomatoes are a regulated item under the Goa
Agriculture Produce Marketing Board and has to be supplied in Goa through
the subyard by paying cess. Goa does not produce enough tomatoes to meet
local demands and has to import from neighbouring states. The diversion of
tomatoes meant for the market has resulted in the steep hike which ordinary
people cannot afford.

The ordinary citizen is already reeling under steep price rise and instead
of taking steps to ease the burden, the government is actively supporting
such activities in the name of tourism.

Bailancho Saad strongly condemns and opposes the perverse methods of
promoting tourism for the vulgar merriment of the rich and insensitive to
the poor. That the government is totally bereft of clean ideas is
reflected in the manner in which the government has stooped to the level of
promotion of sex tourism for all sexual orientations in the Goa Travel and
Tourism Mart held at Hyatt.

http://bharatmukti.blogspot.com/2011/10/bharat-mukti-morcha-condemns-police.html

Bharat Mukti Morcha strongly condemns filing of criminal cases against
Vanxim villagers belonging to Bharat Mukti Morcha. Bharat Mukti Morcha
condemns Sao Mathias Sarpanch Ludvina Athaide for filing of police cases
against Vanxim villagers protesting against golf course in their
island. According to the information published on 31st october 2011 in
Times of India Sarpanch has filed police cases against  Maggie Silviera,
Neetyanand Volvoikar, Amrut Volvoikar, Sadanand Tari, Mohan Volvoikar
and Eulogio D'Mello at Old Goa Panchayat. These people are leading
freedom movement against bamon raj symbolized in Vanxim through bamon
Mahendra Gaunekar and Bamon Felipe Neri Ferrao who sold Vanxim island.

The above named people are directly connected with Bharat Mukti Morcha
as well as Ilha de Vanxim Association. Maggie Silveira is Bharat Mukti
Morcha Mahila Aghadi Goa State President. Filing cases against these
people by Sarpanch Athaide has further intensified involvement of Bharat
Mukti Morcha. They have already been honored as freedom fighters with
these cases in Goa's history.

These villagers along with many other has been to the announced Gram
Sabha on 30th October 2011. These villagers saw that there was no place
in the Panchayat to accommodate large number of people specially those
who came to the Panchayat to oppose the project. They asked Sarpanch and
Secretary to hold the gram sabha outside in the open so as to
accommodate the gathered public. They both refused and then announced
that this gram sabha will not going be held. Agitated public refused to go
away without conduct of the scheduled Gram Sabha.

At this juncture gathered public demanded resignation of Sarpanch as
well that of other panchayat members. Public then told secretary to
write minutes and public will go ahead with gram sabha and one of the
Gram Sabha members will chair this meeting.

Panchayat itself called public for the gram sabha and Panchayat did not
make any arrangement for accommodating them. Panchayat members including
Sarpanch had acted in very irresponsible manner. People's protest was
directed towards this irresponsibility of the Sao Mathias Panchayat. It
is matter of deep concern that Sarpanch has chosen to file criminal
cases against the people who came to the Panchayat to exercise their
democratic rights.

The action of Sarpanch is a clever conspiracy to subvert democracy and
establish brahmanocracy - brahmanical rule. If the members of Panchayat
respect democracy then its Sarpanch must withdraw these police cases
filed at Old Goa Police Station.

According to the sources at Old Goa police station these cases against
Vanxim people are filed at the behest of bamon Mahendra Gaunekar in
order to create fear. Bamon Gaunekar has become desperate after his
earlier pressure tactics of splitting the Vanxim villagers through money
failed as villagers united to his domination of Vanxim through
construction of various projects like golf courses, hotels, resorts,
private marinas inside the water bodies and re-name the Vanxim island as
 Ozone island.

Bharat Mukti Morcha National president Waman Meshram addressed a public
meeting in the Goa's capital city of Panjim on October 29, 2011. Meeting
in the centre of city in Azad Maidan was attended by nearly 500 people
inside the maidan and numerous other people in the heart of city. Waman
Meshram in his speech highlighted as to how our country is still under
the foreign colonial rule of brahmins. In 1947 one foreigner called
British left India and another foreigner called Brahmin took over and
they rule till date. He further went on to elaborate as to how mulnivasi
people of India are held captives by Brahmanism powers. He explained
detail politics behind not carrying out of caste based census of OBC in
India. He held Brahmanism responsible for depriving development of OBC
people.

Waman Meshram examined the role of each of the Prime Ministers of India
in suppressing cased based census cutting party lines. He outlined the
agitation program of mobilization for liberation of India and appealed
to all the mulnivasi people to join in the struggle in large numbers. He
said currently our country though ruled by Manmohan Singh the decision
not hold caste based census was taken by Bengali brahmin Pranab
Mukherjee.

Earlier Waman Meshram was accorded warm welcome with a song 'Bharat
Mukti Morcha' composed and Choreographed by Maggie Silveira, President
of Bharat Mukti Morcha Mahila Aghadi  and sang by children from Vanxim
island. Entire gathering came alive with the song and participants waved
Bharat Mukti Morcha flags in air.

Number of people connected with movements also spoke during the meeting.
Devidas Gaonkar, Francis Fernades, Hanumant Porob, Rama Velip,
Sebastian Rorigues, Maggie Silveira, Fr.Bismark Dias, Xavier Fernandes
spoke on the occasion. Kashinath Mayekar was present on the dias.

Devidas Gaonkar spoke about how Goa government has betrayed SC,ST,OBC
people by non-implementation of Forest Rights Act. Francis Fernandes
dealt with land reforms in Goa and how Brahmanism interests has
sabotaged the entire program. Hanumant Porob spoke about the how mining
has ruined environments are people are forced to struggle for their
livelihood. Rama Velip exposed brahmanical links in mining destruction
of Goa. Maggie Silveira criticized Goa government on introduction of
Aadhaar card (UID). She said it is worse than a bomb blast in its impact
of taking private information and recording it in centralized
computerized system. She criticized Digambar Kamat for this project.
Sebastian Rodrigues criticized Brahmanism forces for looting of Goa
through mining and creating burden of public debt of Rs.631 crore. He
questioned as to why Goa that generated Rs.28 lakh crore in last
financial year though mining should have public debt at all. Fr.Bismark
Dias criticized Goa Archbishop Felipe Neri Ferrao for selling of Vanxim
island.

Maggie Silveira in her second round of speech launched scathing attack
on Brahmanical system that has sold Vanxim island. 'Not a chair will be
allowed to be parked in Vanxim island', Maggie thundered warning to
Bamon Mahendra Gaunekar. Gaunekar is planning to take over Vanxim island
and has got Goa government to get village survey number 8 consisting of
water bodies as settlement zone for 'hotel and resort only'.

People from far and wide traveled to Panjim for the meeting and
Brahmanism hold in Goa got jolted. It was for the first time that such a
public meeting was being held in the heart of Panjim boldly criticizing
 brahmanism.

Bharat Mukti Morcha blog www.bharatmukti.blogspot.com was inaugurated at
the hands of National President Waman Meshram. Blog contains posting
related to Bharat Mukti Morcha activities in Goa. It also contains
number of postings criticizing brahmanical rule in Goa.

Booklet titled 'Goa's Great Mining Plunder' authored by Sebastian
Rodrigues was released at the hands of National President Waman Meshram.
This booklet documents police repression in mining belt as well as
large scale plunder since 1981. The booklet is published by Mulnivasi
Publication Trust, Pune.

37th tiatr Competition 2011 PATKAK BHOGSONNEM NAM

It is a murder mystery

How did Mr. Kamat die?
A natural death – Cardiac arrest?
Or unnatural death – Someone killed him?
If so, who done it?

Could it be Mr. Kevin who wanted to get rid of Kamat for he was blackmailing
him?
Infact, he even planned to kill him as per the plot (Full proof Murder) in
thestory, script ofwhich he got from his brother’s girlfriend Lynette.
Mr. Kamat posed as CID been black mailing Kevin for the murder or a death that
took place in Karwar 2 years ago where his secretary Kiara
dies in an attempt to saving herself from the clutches of the rapistRaguvan a
business partner. Mr. Kamat was demanding Rs.25 lacs to close
the file forever. He gives him just one day or else he call a press conference
to expose him (Kevin).

http://joegoauk-konkani-tiatr-vcds-films.blogspot.com/2011/11/37th-tiatr-competition-2011-patkak.html

Kevin calls Mr Kamat at home when there was nobody around to execute his plan
but Mr. Kamat dies at Kevin’s home even before he
takes his poisoned tea. Doctor called in who spend no time certifying the death
by natural cause as if he was also involved. Was he?
Murder, whether it is full proof or otherwise, it is a sin that has no
forgiveness.

PATKAK BHOGSONNEM NAM was the 23rd (of the total 30) entry in the ongoing 37th

Dear Joe:

You probably enjoyed Halloween in Alexandria and preparing to return home.

Can you please post my following response on Goanet (for me)?

Thanks and God Bless:

Yes, it was indeed an honour to meet you personally and catch up with
all the ghup-chup.

The feelings and sentiments you express are mutual/reciprocal. It was
wonderful being able to put a face to your name. The last similar
encounter was with Alfred Tavares which vibrated with the last
earthquake experienced here and interchanges making it on Goanet.

Fr. Francisco Alves was gracious with the logistical arrangements and
we thank him or it.
Our association with Jose (Joe) Colaco dates back several years to
Goanet, the A.V.C. Wilma and Bambino Martins link, and so on. Not sure
of this making it on Goanet, so copying jc and FredN for assistance.

Thanks again, Joe, for your kind words and Clare joins me in thanking
you for visiting our humble abode and helping with the clean up after
that simple meal.

Last night, I had the privilege of meeting up with Clare and Patrick
de Sousa at their lovely home in Maryland. (Ema had to 'raincheck' the
get-together after our littlest grand, at the eleventh hour, needed
some 'arrival of new teeth' attention). Our common friend,
Fr.Francisco Alves was the gracious director of transport.

After some gentle libation, we were treated to Chef Patrick's Kabuli
Pulao, Rogan Josh, shrimp and salad. There also were some masala dosas
as starters and Tiramisu for dessert. It was all very scrumptious and
very delightful indeed. Fr. Alves blessed the food and Clare provided
a gentle seal of approval.as if to say "Bravo
Patrocino.Bravo!!!"

The delicious fare on the table having been noted, the company and the
conversation were the highlights of the evening. I was very happy to
finally meet Clare and Pat. We chatted and chatted about a variety of
topics from near and afar, and what was meant to be an early night
almost turned out to be an early morning for us.

Thank you Clare and Pat for hosting such a relaxing event. Fr. Alves,
Thank you too.

God Bless you good people .always.

Dear Ancy,
Lawrence and Mayo, one of the biggest and probably the oldest Christian
enterprise-(135 year old with 78 centres in 30 cities )in the country are
investing Rs 25 crores in setting up premier colleges of optometry , IGNOU
certified courses in tie-up with leading eye hospitals as an effort to tackle
skilled workers shortage. The Company is also setting up a school of optometry
in their 63acre complex at Assonara , Goa as part of a full fledged vocational
campus with high end skilled courses, including venturing into training for all
competitive examinations including civil services. The complex would be a big
boon for the youth in Goa , especially in tackling the present rising
unemployment in the State. It is proposed to be set up on the PPP model Of
NSDC-National Skill Development corporation..Given its highly impressive track
record, Both Lawrence and Mayo, as well as The Mendonsa trust are truly
leading the path of Christian Enterprise , and also in true Christian spir
it empowering the Christian community , particularly the youth as well.dev

With a view to fostering a sense of inclusion in multi-cultural Britian, The
Goan Association (UK), GoanVoice UK and myself have sponsored a collection of
books to be deposited with the Swindon Central Library. The Library was most
welcoming and we have been promised a shelf relating to Goa books although
ofcourse they could not guarantee this shelf-space indefinitely. These newly
released books hopefully will be of literary and historical interest to the
Goans living in Swindon and any one else interested in Goa.

If you or your organisation wishes to sponsor books to libraries in the UK
where a large confluence of Goans lives, please do get in touch with me.

Thank you,

Deputy Commissioner K.K.Soan says Ex Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda was beaten up by
inmates insisting he has meals with others! However,he is shown by the media,
front page news, with many microphones thrust in his face, alleging that he was
roughed up by the guards when he went to check the quality of food. What is
more, his partyJMM and his wife demand a high level Inquiry stating"Koda is not
an ordinary person, and the assault on a former CM is tantamount to an attack on
democracy".
Since when did elected representatives become nawabs/extraordinary people? The
very fact he is in jail is demeaning democracy, and it is really our fault
that they cannot believe all are equal before the law. With more and more
untouchable big wigs/heavyweights going behind bars,it is in their interest
that they get down to earth and understand justice! Also high time we stop
bowing and scraping before them to know and get what is our right. To be worthy
of democracy by standing up to be counted.

ADVANI DARES

The smuggling of bundles of crores of rupees notes in the Parliament was
the most disgraceful and despicable act. It was the worst precedent that
lowered the sanctity of the august body Only after the arrest of BJP MLA`s
did Advani criy foul, daring the Govt to arrest him , as he was the sole
architect of so called sting operation. Once again on his Yatra he is
daring the GOVT and the UPA to arrest him and release the so called whistle
blowers according to him There is no evidence against Mr Advani and his own
admission however true will not be justified in the court, without
corroborating evidence Advani wants to be the Martyr, but the UPA will not
buy his wish and crown him with the hallo Advani in spite of knowing this
fact is playing to the galleries, hoping to encash benefits for himself and
BJP party

The Parliamentary committee after due investigations has filed the case
through the police. The S.C. is monitoring the case The BJP can adduce the
evidence it wants in the court. It has lost in the so called PEOPLE`S court
after the last General elections It seems to undermine faith in the legal
process by the highest court of the land On one side it swears by faith in
the court ,whereas in the next breadth ,it feels all those involved have
not been questioned. BJP also injects that the case is sub judice ,while
all the time in debates it cast aspersions on the court process It also
has taken publicity advantage to throw the UPA in bad light, realizing that
it was in no position with numbers to defeat the motion The argument that
UPA was the beneficiary to remain in power, its sordid drama enacted in the
Parliament was to get some mileage ,which it failed miserably As the
responsible opposition party it behaved in the most debased manner in the
Parliamentary history There was better and dignified way to carry out the
sting operation and nail the culprits It is playing hide and seek game

The BJP does not display the names and source of money transacted. It wants
the the Govt to trace the source of bribes Is it not an irony?. Why the
sting operation did not record on camera, as usual and unassailable proof
the money transacted? The argument that the camera failed at the crucial
moment is a blatant lie. Did the eyes also fail? Or the receivers are
admitting amnesia of the truth? It is for these reasons the BJP must come
clean with the source of money. The horse trading to remain in power and to
defeat non confidence motion is practiced by all political parties in
different versions and on different occasions The people will not believe
“holier than thou attitude” as it suits the political party in opposition
to denigrate the UPA in power

As per the law both the giver and taker of bribes are equally punishable
in acts of corrupt practices. If the BJP does not disclose the source of
money than the whistle blowers will have to bear the brunt of justice In no
way the Advani`s daring the Govt to arrest him will dilute the seriousness
of the spectacular , unprecedented crime, in the process sullying the image
of the Parliament

Advani with all his yatras will never see the elusive chair of P.M, which
he so consciously aspires in living and dreams

layman will know that an ophthalmologist cannot be an expert medical witness
for an orthopedic case. Similarly for laboratory reports only the pathologist
can be an expert witness and give expert opinion. Courts around the world have

opinions in Courts. Medical Associations around the world are aware of
existence of such doctors who have either a fraudulent intent or have
limitation of knowledge. Such limitation of knowledge can also be acquired due

Quote: In July, the
8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a Minnesota ophthalmologist was
not qualified to give an opinion about the care provided by an orthopedic
surgeon. The surgeon,
Paul Huddleson, MD, was accused of failing to warn a patient about all possible
surgery risks after a patient became blind after surgery, court records show.
Dr. Huddleson requested that the case be dismissed based on Minnesota law,
which requires that experts be experienced in the same specialty as defendants.
The appellate
court said the plaintiff's expert witness had no practical experience in
orthopedic surgery and was not suited to discuss surgery risks. The court
dismissed the case. UNQUOTE
