On our trip to India  in 1974  I found the recipe in ?Femina? an Indian 
Magazine

My family & I enjoy this yummy dish from time to time on Sundays.
In ?Cozinha Portuguesa?  there are 365  bacalhau dishes, one for each 
day of the year.
Besides the sliced potatoes atop the bacalhau, some black olives and 
sliced boiled eggs

& a sprinkling of parsley adds the finishing touch.

whether we want to remain part of mainland Europe or go it alone. I will be 
voting to remain with both feet not like the present where like dancing the 
hockey cokey we have one foot here and one foot there. The Government at great 
cost has sent every household a booklet with its reasons to remain in.
Not that long ago Britain left the colonies and joined the European Union as 
part of a great continent. The former colonies were left to fend for themselves 
as the trickle of Goan administrators who oiled the British Colonial 
administrative machinery also began to leave. Take the Railways in Africa, for 
instance  each line ran to the coast mainly to trade good out while in Europe 
railway lines connected each country and still do.
Memories of Empire days are kept alive with honours lists like MBE,OBE even 
though there is no Empire. It was not that long ago when it was normal for 
people with no hair (skinheads) and those with toilet brush hairstyles (punk 
rockers) along with the gutter press would be shouting out out out along with 
vandalism and what was known as Paki Bashing normal on a Saturday football 
match. The comfort zone we have is  due to the Race relations act and hate 
crimes within should not be underestimated as we still have the gutter press 
now known as tabloids and broadsheets calling the tune.Its make your own mind 
time and vote on Thursday 23 June, hope this note will assist.
VOTING IN – will keep Britain like Bebicna or as colourful as a rainbow 
sandwich.

Several Goan websites are a fora for opinions, discussions and debates
regarding issues related to Goa and Goans. All this is good!


Hindus, however, rightfully caution everyone how there cannot be good
without bad. It cannot be a case of zero tolerance against bad. It is
illogical for without bad there is no understanding and knowing what is
good. Unfortunately, every second Goan wants to a part of bad. Otherwise
Goa wouldn't be in a supreme state of decadence, would it?


While a lot of good is to be found on these websites, there is also bad -
so-called critics who focus on individuals rather than the message. A
recent Goan tradition?


As ours is a relatively newly educated society it is something we have to
live with, a necessary evil as they say in Japan. We can, however, try to
reduce the quantity of bad, can't we?


Now is a good time to improve standards of decorum on Goan websites.
Personal attacks and criticism against individuals should be banned.
Freedom of expression and licence to destroy someone's reputation are a
world apart! Anyone who thinks they are the same needs to do a rethink on
his values.


Also, asking people to shut up simply because they are working and living
abroad is unacceptable. Apply your criticism not where the individual NRI
lives and works but to the content of the message. Otherwise, the level of
discourse is embarrassingly low and the misdirected criticism not worth
reading. A South African winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature once
famously commented how a writer's address is irrelevant. That was decades
ago, much before the birth of the Internet.


The worst case scenarios are writers who never reveal who they are but don
all kinds of fictitious names and labels behind which they insulate
themselves while spewing hatred against some individual or other. Nothing
is worse than this! Maybe it is the moderator who indirectly encourages
this type of savage behavior. Anyway, moderators are responsible for the
level of politeness, culture, fairness of views and opinions as well as
ways of criticism which appear on their individual websites.


No excuses are acceptable. Let's not kid ourselves.

Wow! Are you suggesting that this is a reserved-for-boys award? It is true
that this gender has lost out academically in Goan society at least. While
some might blame the boys, and sociologists have spoken about the "pinking
of education" at the Goa University, I'd also suspect that this has
something to do with the 'feminization of education' globally.

Highly deplorable and very high-handed is the reinstatement in service of
Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s brother-in-law Ghanashyam
Malvankar,  an officer at the Goa Industrial Development Corporation who
was arrested while caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.



This only proves that this government’s so called mantra of Zero Tolerance
to Corruption is just another hoax. The double talk by the Chief Minister
stands exposed as he has not allowed the law to take its own course. Infact
after his brother-in-law was arrested Laxmikant Parsekar should have
immediately given up the Home portfolio to allow the police a free hand in
the investigation of the case.



Any act of corruption is a very serious crime against the State but sadly
those politically well connected get away scot free in any and every
corrupt deed. We have seen how the Goa Police have gone out of the way to
shield Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar in the Serula Communidade land grab
case and the  now Forest Minister Rajendra Arlekar in the disproportionate
assets case against him while he was Speaker. The same police however
displayed a very high level of enthusiasm in very eagerly probing the Tarun
Tejpal and the Louis Berger case.



The BJP in 2012 deviously usurped power by falsely promising Good
Governance and Zero Tolerance to Corruption. But the rampant Corruption is
there all over for all to see. It has been 100% Tolerance to all acts of
Corruption as long as you belong or are connected to the BJP.

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s insane and thoughtless defence that his
brother-in-law Ghanashyam Malvankar is not his blood relation is ludicrous,
it coming from someone who is a Post Graduate. May be we need to reassess
Laxmikant Parsekar’s intelligence quotient.

The *Goa Su-Raj Party- GSRP* wants to come clear on the  issue  of
'floating Casinos' in the Mandovi River, which issue has been giving
sleepless nights to the well meaning and concerned citizens of Goa,  and
also,  on the issue of the current ongoing  national debate over the
'Offices of Profit' held by Elected Represented of the People.

With regards to the Floating Casinos in the Mandovi River is concerned,
this Party is concerned about the government clearing the way for the
floating casinos to be relocated into the Chapora River. The Central
Government is preparing to dredge Goa's sensitive rivers in the guise of
clearing the silt but the actual intention is to relocate the floating
casinos deeper inside the hinterland rivers, especially  in the Chapora
River, to make it easy for the tourists who will land at the future MOPA
Airport to descend on this exclusive entertainment enclave cut out into the
Chapora River. The Party is with the people of Chapora and the surrounding
areas who are agitating against such dredging and placement of floating
casinos at the mouth of the Chapora River. This Party's one point programme
on floating casinos is that these shall be shifted to off-shore locations
and Goa's rivers shall be freed from the curse of being polluted with
sewage generated by these floating citadels, as also hinder the free
movement of the normal river traffic, especially when this Party intends to
put up a qualified river transportation system in place to decongest the
road traffic on Goan roads.

With regards to the ongoing debate on the  Offices of Profits enjoyed by
Elected Representatives, this Party has deliberated on this issue
threadbare during its formation some 15 years ago when it emphatically
decided that no elected representative must hold any office of profit. The
result of these deliberations was the inclusion of Article 38 in the
Constitution of the Party which Article features in the Articles of the
Constitution which cannot be amended throughout to lifespan of the Party.
The Article 38 reads as follows:

Article 38: *APPOINTMENTS OF CHAIRPERSONS & DIRECTORS OF GOVT. CORPORATIONS
& INSTITUTIONS.*
*The members of the Party who are elected to the Legislative  Assembly as
MLAs and who are not included in the Cabinet shall be in-elligle to  be
appointed as Chairpersons and/or Directors of Government Corporations and
Institutions.*

If this very Article in the Constitution of this Party is not the
 'futuristic planning and foresight', then we do not know what futuristic
planning is all about. Today, the run is on the tax-payer's money. It must
be squandered on the maintenance of Government's line toting yesmen and
yeswomen,  to re-habilitate them in more ways than one, rather than seeing
to it that the tax-payer's get the benefit of their hard-earned money which
goes into paying their taxes.  In the future, tax-payers shall do well to
question the governments of the day on how their hard-earned money is used
and for what purpose.  Afterall, the RTI Act is a powerful tool at the
disposal of irked tax-payers.

Dear All,
Yesterday, finally the MHA issued a notice cancelling the FCRA of Sabrang 
Trust. Sabrang Trust's primary activities have involved working in the area of 
secular education, advocacy and documentation while Citizens for Justice and 
Peace (CJP) have been working on the issue deliverance of justice to the 
Survivors of Mass Crimes, especially Gujarat 2002. Both need continued and 
sustained citizen's support.
The statements attached below give detailed explanations on every foul 
allegation made by the MHA. What is implicit is that the MHA has itself 
embellished its own conclusions from the time it made its first Observations 
(last June 2015) after inspection, the Suspension Notice (September 2015) and 
now in the Final Cancellation Notice.
What shows a very clear nexus is the fact that it is when the Gujarat Police 
--in February 2015--failed to get custody of us and the Supreme Court stayed 
our arrest (Feb 12, 19, 2015) that the Gujarat Police Home Department wrote 
specifically to the MHA alleging so called violations by Sabrang Trust. This 
letter of the Gujarat Police dated March 10-, 2015 is also attached here. Hence 
what began under Modi in Gujarat (January 2014 when the FIR was first lodged 
against Tanvir Jafri, Firoz Pathan, Salim Sandhi, Javed Anand and myself) has, 
two years later become the ground for vindictive action against us (Javed

This is just to update you that in yet another vindictive action, the Ministry 
of Home Affairs has cancelled the FCRA registration of Sabrang Trust as part of 
the (continuing) campaign against Teesta and Javed (Sabrang's Press Statement 
attached). This follows the actions against Lawyers Collective in the recent 
past.

In the meantime, there are growing protests against the actions of the MHA in 
the LC case. I am attaching the following documents that have come in this past 
week.

1. Statement demanding repeal of FCRA by UN Special Rapporteurs on human rights 
defenders, on freedom of opinion and on freedom of assembly.
