[Goanet] Goanet] Answer to the missing chapters i n the Bible
Hello Albert, It's not a noise, but a query of many who maybe curious as to why different denomination of Christians who pray to the same God, have different number of books. As a catholic who has rarely read the bible, I would feel that that is discrimination, why more for me who does not read, and less for those who read everyday? Isn't that so? That is a normal thing for all, not only for books but for other things too. Yes, it's a curiosity that made me ask this question, and I assumed that the person who answered this query would satisfy me, but unfortunately, you being a teacher, did nothing of such, on the other hand your reply was an angry retort. Your answer made me more confused, that from the 66 books you refer to, you feel they too are too many for you, as you say only 6 books are more than enough, i.e., Genesis, Exodus, and the four gospels from the New Testament. So now what is it exactly you are trying to convey? Let me remind that the Catholics do not venerate Mother Mary as a God, rival to The Almighty but as a mother guiding, consoling, etc her children to God. As we have not seen the Almighty, these Crosses, Saints etc are just reminders to make us remember God. They are reminders of the good deeds done by them to Glorify The Almighty. Did The Almighty choose Mother Mary for one time use to bring The Saviour in this world and then discard her completely? Even Mother Mary had miraculous birth, same like Isaac and so God had some purpose for this, don't you think so? When Mother Mary went to Elizabeth after receiving the news of her pregnancy, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed that she was honored to be visited by The Mother of God. I do not have the complete exact lines right now but one can find them in any Bible. The Bible is more than a guide or reference book. To make life simple, there are only two commandments given by The Lord Jesus, Honour they God and The second is love one another as I have loved you. Hatred comes from the evil one. Good. In reality one needs only Genesis to know what God wants from you and what is the relationship between God and you, Exodus to know the ten commandments,Mathew or Luke and we need John. How many of us are ever following what is in the Bible? In Genesis the Lord tells us to increase and multiply and fill the earth. While giving the 10 commandments the Lord God has clearly told us not to use idols in the form of animals, snakes, or human form to describe God. I t is also to be understood that God does not like rivals before Him. He is heart and soul of earth and heaven. Jesus also says "I am the truth if u want to go to my fater come to me."What is the use of boasting of 73 books when we do things contrary? We have made Mary another God rival to the existing one. We have saints and mary to help us to go to God. [Goanet] India, A favored destination for education
Hello Goans A favored destination for education ( some extracts taken from Arab News Riyadh written by Javid Hassan) India is fast becoming a favored destination for education with students from over 30 countries pursuing higher education in India, with costs a fraction of what it is costing in either UK or USA. What is costing 10,000 US dollars in India for 3 years inclusive of tution fees and living cost for graduation studies, its almost 80, 000 in USA and 56000 in UK. India has over 310 Universities consisting of 52 Deemed Universities, 162 traditional universities, 40 agricultural/forestry/fisheries/vetenary universities, 36 engineering and technology universities and 18 medical universities. Besides this, there are over 15500 colleges of engineering, medical, arts, humanities, social sciences, commerce, science and management education. Every Indian university has English as the medium of instruction and most Indian universities consider a sound knowledge of English a prerequisite for pursuing higher education. Most of the professional courses like science and technical subjects, English is exclusively used for teaching purposes. Postgraduate education is taught in English in most of the educational institutes. One important thing is that India has the third largest English speaking population in the world. This makes the foreign nationals feel at home. The quality of education is comparable to the best available anywhere in the world. And the costs are moderate and affordable. Coming to Goa, I remember I had read somewhere that Goa had the first and the best university during the Portuguese era in the whole of Asia. If I am not mistaken, it was located in Reis Magos? Goa too used to get students from different parts of the world for their education. Wonder what happened? Coming to the present times, it surprises me that the ministers elected by the people of Goa seems to hate Goans succeeding in the world, hence they refuse the English medium, even when it has been suggested to impose one subject of English from Primary. No wonder the education is suffering in Goa, and many don't even complete SSC. Re: [Goanet] Sonapur Church
Hi, There is also one house in the lane of David and Co, which caters food and is crowded in the afternoons, with lots of Goans who eat there. I believe the people who do the catering are Mangloreans. It was a chance happening that I heard of this place and really enjoyed the food. As for Hotel Vienna, its now a lodging with rooms available. Last time I had gone there, their restaurant business had closed down. As for the water melon juice as mentioned by Eugene, I tried in Mapuca in the cold drink shop near the temple, ( not Hanuman cold drink shop) and it really sucked, I would give 100 marks for the one available in Kayani. [Goanet] WE ARE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR BANKERS
Hi, Banking has certainly come of age in India, but as per the mails we read, the service is provided is not up to the standard unless one does know someone at the bank, or one opens his/her account in the Village. With the free hand given to private banks by the government and also international banks, there is a big scope for better service oriented banks, but the catch is the deposites. Some years ago, when I did check, CityBank required 25000 as its permanent balance account, ANZ Grindleys required 5000 and Hongkong Bank required 1. This I believe is almost 7-8 years ago. I have no idea about it now. No wonder they give all the services available, when our Nationalized banks you can have even 100 rupees. But still I feel the Nationalized banks are risk free place to keep the money. Even our private banks namely the cooperative banks are risky, like the last time I heard of Mapuca Urban Cooperative bank. There was also an incident of one International bank few years back, I believe its BCCI having their office in Mumbai, belonging to a Pakistani. Also As another person mentioned, best is to open the accounts in Village banks, where you get the best service, and you are on friendly terms with the Bank Manager, who can guide you in the banking procedures. If not have someone who is either a good friend, or relative, in the bank who can do the work for you whilst you go to the caffetaria to have a cup to tea with nice ussal baji or sip some beer. With competition on the rise, their services are far more better than what it was 10 years back. so not to worry to take advantage of modern banking facilities and one will find banking a lot more easier and convienent. 17000 crore of Goan money in banks, than they should treat us like kings !!! after all CUSTOMR IS STILL THE KING kind regards R. [Goanet] St. Xaviers Shuts Carnac Road Chapel.
Hello Eric, Indeed it’s very sad news given by Eric, about the Carnac Road Chapel. It was the most frequented chapel for me during my three years residence in Mumbai, just next to Metro Cinema. As it was a walking distance, I can say equal walking distance also to Our Lady of Dollars, but preferred to this chapel, I will certainly miss it on my trips to mumbai. Thanks for bringing this information. Atleast I wont be shocked when I land in Mumbai. It was not a Parish, but the School's chapel filled in for generations of Marine Line - Crawford folk, specially the 8 am Choir Mass. I have learnt that the Jesuit fathers have shut it's doors, a response to falling attendance: most Crawford Market catholics have now moved on. It had been magnificently renovated in the early 60's: at the helm of inspiration/design/architecture was Basque native, Rev. Molinet - he had taught us french. It would never have happened, however, without the Barcelona duo, Bro. Munoz and Bro. Hernandez, master craftsmen who never appeared to put their chisells down. I really meant to remember the Choir, doing this today. [Goanet] Can a Christian be a Communist?
Goanetters visiting Viva Goa 2006 in Toronto, Canada on July 29, can use the BMX booth as a meeting point. Please list your name on the message board that will be provided, courtesy of BMX. http://bmxgoa.com Hi, I wonder where the this thread is leading to. The subject line seems to be forgotten as it says, can a Christian be a communist? Can he or can’t he? As far as I know, communism is not a religion but a form of Government. If a communist can be democrat than he can also be a communist isn’t it? See we have former Russia as communist country but they are orthodox Christians. If China has banned Christianity, does it mean, there are no Christians in China? I believe they have underground churches for their worship, and gradually its opening for that too, with many embracing Islam too. According to Karl Marx the favourite quoted communist of Vidyadhar Gadgiland Friedrich Engels, The theory of communism may be summed up in one sentence : Abolish all private property. According to another deffination, “The theory which teaches that the labor and the income of society should be distributed equally among all its members by some constituted authority. No one other than yourself has used "godless" as a pejorative. It was simply used as a descriptive. There are NO consequences on this earth and you are welcome to take your chances thereafter. > Since you seem to have missed the crux of the matter, the point that was made and widely misunderstood by the anti-religious faction on Goanet is that we have no way of knowing what moral code is being followed by each and every unorganzied individual out there.
