Re: [Goanet] NEWS: 'Goa's banking services best in India' (TNN)

2011-04-05 Thread Albert Desouza

Dear Goanetters
I do not think I need to name the bank as according to me all nationalised
banks are the same. I have an account in Bank of India. Mapuca. The moment I
enter the bank I feel that I have entered a hell. Staff is so busy and always
with sad face. Their printers do not work sometimes. One day I sent my office
assistant to update my pass books. My whole family has account over there. So I
have about six passbooks. The clerk started grumbling. I had to complain to the
zonal manager to sort out the case. One day I wanted to make a fixed deposit.
The money was lying in the saving account of the same bank. The concern clerk
had to just press a button of his computer make two entries and another click
and the certifcate gets printed. But no he told me to come again. One day I
wanted to withdraw ten thousand from the bank, I prefered one thousand notes.
The clerk refused to give me saying he does not have and gave me one hundred
demonition. I made noise. The chief cashier is my neighbour. He came to my
rescue and brought ten thousand of one thousand dem and gave me but before that
the clerk concerned told me that if I was not satisfied with the bank I could
close the account. I see number of old people waiting in que .Some of them
cannot stand .Some of them come to get their fixed deposit . At the end of the
year I want a statement from the bank for the accured interest .One day I
requested the bank manager to post the same to me which he refused. I send the
request to the zonal manager and then the certificate was sent to me. I have an
account with corporation bank Mapuca. There the case is not different from bank
of India. Same stories. Some of the clerks do not know to operate the keys of
the computer. I complained to the head office throu interenet and then the
zonal manager phones me, the branch manager phones me and things have improoved
a bit but for how long I donot know. MY atm pin had got over. The pin had to be
renewed. I did not notice that and was refused withdrawl . When I told this to
the bank officer he told me that my new pin was lying with them for past one
month. I should have seen that. I had an account with the axis bank. I wanted a
statement at the end of the year which they never gave me and I closed the
account. They were trying to preach to me that it was the best bank .I have
noticed other banks too. Same old stories and that is why people want to have
their accounts in ICICI, HDFC. I do not have an account in these banks but once
or twice went there to withdraw cash and found the staff quite cheerful and
helpful.

2011-04-03 Thread Tony de Sa
Dear Albert,

It would help tremendously if you name the bank responsible. This would
enable us to avoid the bank like plague.

Let me cite a disagreement I had with Syndicate Bank, Mapusa:

I went to get my passbook updated and found that the ink had smudged and the
entries were hardly legible. So I asked the lady at the counter whether they
were using refilled ribbons? She spoke rudely to me and told me I could meet
the manager if I wanted. I did exactly that and found that the manager would
not accept what his staff had said and told me after I had had a heated
argument with him that he would give me a new passbook.

Fair enough, so I told him to get the entire page that was smudged
reprinted. The lady in question sent another lady to do this and in temper
they printed only a couple of entries.

Not satisfied with this, I logged into their website and filed a written
complaint with cc to their Regional and Zonal Manager.

Believe it or not, in a couple of weeks I got a couriered parcel with a
whole years passbook entries printed plus an apology letter.

I have found that emailing generally produces good results. I can give a few
more examples of how email works.

Today more and more customer oriented services are email responsive.
Remember now a days anything and everything gets carried on twitter,
facebook and other social networking sites which gives them a bad name.

Re: [Goanet] NEWS: 'Goa's banking services best in India' (TNN)

2011-04-02 Thread Albert Desouza

Dear Goanetters
The service you get as an customer of nationalised bank is very poor. When you
enter any bank you find long ques. The people working over there will behave as
if they are doing the customer a big favour .There is no separate que for the
senior citizen. The staff many times indulge themselves in gossiping and
talking over the mobile phone. If one wants to put money lying in the savings
bank account of the same bank to fixed deposit it will never be done on the
same day. Come tomorrow.or come after four days. When fixed deposit mature the
bank will not send you any notice. At the end of the year lots of customer
wants statement showing the accured interest earned by them. Most of the banks
will not post that statement to you but will ask you to come to the bank and
the statement is put in a file and you come check whther the statement is there
or come again. I get my pension through bank of Inda. The bank does not send me
any intimation for obtaining a statement that I am alive. This time they send
me a post card asking me to visit the bank and when I did come no one knew
whose job it is and one non goan lady officer even shouted asking me to wait if
I want the work to be done . I usually write a complain through the internet to
the head office and then every authority wakes up and they say mea culpa.and
lots of apologies are written to me and phone calls .Albert desouza
