[google-appengine] Re: [appengine-java] Google App Engine community support is moving to Stack Overflow
It seems that all vendors kind of hate support.. (and I understand that) It also seems that there has been very little Google interaction here anyhow. Great, committed support direct from the vendor is critical to platform success, always has been. It does not bode well for responsive future support IMHO.. [google-appengine] Re: App Engine, Eclipse and Pydev Great but how to get breakpoints???
Comments anyone??? Per the Pydev developer on his support site: Unfortunately, I don't know enough of the App Engine to say the actual problem, so, I have to get it, create an account and do an example to know what can be failing there... A common problem in web frameworks (django, turbogears, etc) is that there is usually a 2nd process spawned to run things when your files change, so, for the debugger to work properly you have to run with -- no-reload (or some option close to it), or use the remote debugger http://fabioz.com/pydev/manual_adv_remote_debugger.html ), but I'm not sure if that's true for the app engine. The problem with the post vs the bug is that I can forget to answer you (as I won't be able to go on and get an app engine example running here right now). FWIW The Eclipse environment is massively helpful for app engine even if I can't get it all to work... Well I just went back and retried everything slowly and with the benefit of more sleep. [google-appengine] Re: How do you debug?
I'd sure like to see more on this topic, I have loaded up a version of the sample app, "Bloog" and certain features are problematic I don't know how to set up a debug environment. I can't really get what is going on either in the dev server nor the production one. So I'm reduced to pleading with the developers. I've turned on debug in the dev server (which helped on one problem.) But I don't see how to run the Python code in some sort of interactive method and the dev server at the same time so I can step through the input to output? [google-appengine] Too many Indexes? runs fine on desk server not in production? how to debug?
Happy to debug but how? (well maybe not happy but willing) I'm a real newbie at all this, but I did hack together a very modified version on the "bloog" blog project which is now live at http://tombrander.appspot.com/ It runs fine except that I can't post even moderately long blog posts, other examples using this code have longer posts than I, I have not (knowingly) gone near any of the code involved in this area. On the post that is now 1st on the blog if I add even one more word I generate the following error. Can someone give me some advice how to begin the debug process, I'm new to both app-engine and Python so don't have a clue as to how to start the debug process, particularly since it works on my local server? Left a message on the Bloog group but it is pretty low activity so no response. [google-appengine] Re: Hello,I´m new with App Engine
see this thread I had the same issue: a. It is a windows command, and due to the long strings you maybe shouyld consider putting the whole thing in a "bat" file. http://groups.google.com/group/google-appengine/browse_thread/thread/08e7124bb77efacf/3788ddbec978bb3d#3788ddbec978bb3d On Jan 17, 1:17 pm, "v.beh...@googlemail.com" wrote: > Hello,I´m new with App Engine and I can´t upload my developments. > I always tap: appcfg.py update helloworld/ > but there`s only an error massage:Usage: appcfg.py [options] update > > appcfg.py: > error: Not a directory: helloworld/ > > Is anyone able to help me,please? > > Thank you in advance --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google App Engine" group. [google-appengine] Re: Ok I know it's something really dumb but how to upload
Thank you for the quick reply, I could not get teh whole string to take but I dis get a result from the windows cmd shell changesd to root then did c:appcfg.py update c:\Users\DadLaptop\Documents \tombrander and that worked, using quotes around the whole string did not work for some reason. There has got to be a better way!!! Just this typing will be a real drag since the conventional Cntrl C and Ctrl V don't work in cmd shell.. Back to the books, but then I suppose the real solution it to pack the whole thing in a bat file!! [google-appengine] Ok I know it's something really dumb but how to upload
I have been working on a sample app for a while and now I'm finally ready to go, I have been using Python 2.6.1 (could that be the issue?) The local app server and my app are getting on fine. so I go to appcfg.py update C:\Users\DadLaptop\Documents\tombrander I cannot enter anything into the server window and neither the python gui nor the python command line recognize the command. I have already created the app, with the same name on my account. >>> appcfg.py update C:\Users\DadLaptop\Documents\tombrander/ SyntaxError: invalid syntax >>> It has update highlighted in red... --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google App Engine" group.
