[Google Wave APIs] wave.google.com down or is my account defect?

2009-10-02 Thread HaiColon

Worked fine half an our ago. Now when I try to open up the Google Wave
client on wave.google.com the shiny error pops up. Every time, with
both Chrome (Linux dev channel) and Firefox 3.5.3.

Anyone else got this problem or is something wrong with my account? I
haven't actually done anything with the non-sandbox Wave client other
than reading through the welcome wave, installing the sudoku extension
and sending out invitations to friends. Haven't even created a wave
yet.

My sandbox wave account still works fine.

[Google Wave APIs] Re: Wave Identity

2009-10-02 Thread Vince Marco

When I first posted this issue, my main objective was to provoke the
notion that if Wave is going to be a modern email and IM facility,
that it should address identity management in better way than every
system currently. Identity is not just about what I use to login. It
is also about how other users see and address me. Users shouldn't
have to update their address books every time I want to change a
provider for my account. I didn't change my identity, I only changed
providers.

The DNS approach is probably the most all encompassing solution.
However, the monopoly of the registry is a significant problem with
that approach.

An alternative approach would be to support an identifier proxy. This
would be a user id at a provider that is only used to reference my
actual provider account. All that would be required by the system is
a flag that indicates it is a proxy and does the dereferencing. This
does not solve the entire global identity problem, because if I ever
want to change my identity provider, I will disrupt users address
books. But an identity proxy could also have a flag that indicated a
stale address, and contained a forward to the users new identity
address, so that as users use the old identity proxy they would be
alerted to change to the new one. Basically a change of address
flag. This approach is not very disruptive, as it still supports the
current provider identity model, but augments it with identity
providers (ie. users wouldn't have to use an identity proxy). By
enabling the separation of account providers from identity providers,
it encourages users to leverage the best providers and encourages
competition and innovation amonst providers. A minimal amount of
support in Wave itself would be needed to make the identity
dereferencing transparent. Then you could have identity providers
that used all kinds of strategies for identifiers from phone number to
whatever.

Vince

[Google Wave APIs] Included OAuth code causing The class not persistable error

2009-10-02 Thread Eric

I'm trying to use the OAuth code included in the API .jar file,
however I get

  The class com.google.wave.api.oauth.impl.OAuthUser is not
persistable. This means that it either hasnt been enhanced, or that
the enhanced version of the file is not in the CLASSPATH (or is hidden
by an unenhanced version), or the Meta-Data/annotations for the class
are not found.
org.datanucleus.exceptions.ClassNotPersistableException: The class

When trying to use it. I'm fairly new to appengine development, is
there something more complicated I need to be doing other than adding
the jar to the build path? I've looked around on Google, and I can't
find anyone with the same issue.

[Google Wave APIs] Re: Apparent difference in how textView.insert and textView.append treat the extension of the wavelet title

 Hi all,

I am a bit uncertain if this should be here or in the issue tracker?

If I do textView.append(some text), 'some text' appears _after_ the
 title. If I instead do a textView.insert(textView.getText().length(),
some text) 'some text' appears _before_ the title.

It is as if in the one case the title has extension in the textView.
In the other case it doesn't. I can do a wavelet.setTitle(The Title)
and then a textView.getText().length(): the answer is 0. If I pad the
textView with as_many_spaces_as_charachters_in_the_title then I can
insert after the title without an NPE. Instead of this hack I would
rather have the textView starting after the title in both cases, e.g.
index 0 in textView being the first character on the line below the
 title.

 Any thoughts on this?

There is a bug tracker for problems but I haven't got the link for it

[Google Wave APIs] Re: robot installer

2009-10-02 Thread pamela (Google Employee)
Hi Vadim-
Re 1-
We haven't done a good job of explaining annotateSelection. It takes the
currently selected text and surrounds with an annotation, where the
annotation has a key and a value. You could use it in a few ways:
1) Use it to surround text with a key/value that the Google Wave client uses
for formatting. This sample surrounds text with key=style/backgroundColor
and value=rgb(253,252,63), and then the Wave client sees that and colors
the text yellow.
http://wave-samples-gallery.appspot.com/about_app?app_id=35019
http://wave-samples-gallery.appspot.com/about_app?app_id=350192) Use it to
surround text with a key/value that your own robot uses. You could set a
custom key/value, find it, and then use that info to do something. Douwe
wrote an example that annotates a selection and then uses a robot to search
for the text of that on Google and link the text to the first result. That
sample is not yet uploaded.

Re 2-
On Wave preview, there is an extension settings wave that can be used to
install and uninstall extensions. The same thing does not exist on sandbox
at this time.

Re 3-
It can currently only insert an option into the New Wave menu. What other
menu were you thinking of adding to?

- pamela

2009/9/29 vadbars vadb...@gmail.com

Thanks for the interesting link, but I was referring to the action
annotateSelection in the Extension Installer, not the method
SetAnnotate. What I need to write in the tag annotateSelection
 blablabla=some annotation /?
Also I do not understand the format of tag insertGalleryGadget.

The documentation is nowhere stated how to remove an added menu items.
Of course, you can simply click Uninstall. But the wave, which is
inserted Extension Installer, can then removed (lost, it is difficult
 to be found).
And in order to re-insert this Extension Installer, one must know its
 URL.

And the third - can a robot use the Extension Installer in order to
change some menu? I have already written about this in the Office
hours. Such a possibility would be useful, the robot can adjust the
 working environment for the user.

Subject: [Google Wave APIs] Why is the googlewave.com username the same as
  the google account (gmail) username
  From: xlu.2...@gmail.com
  To: google-wave-api@googlegroups.com

I signed up for google account quite late, so my username is not
ideal. I thought I could have a better username at googlewave.com
since it is new, as I had my ideal username at wavesandbox.com. But my
gmail username automatically becomes the googlewave.com username. I
couldn't even make a choice. I hate that. ~~_~~ Why can't we choose
a new username since it is at a new domain?

[Google Wave APIs] Robot API question: tags

2009-10-02 Thread Silicon Dragon
Hey Googlers,
Is there any way for robots currently to obtain the list of tags for a given
wave?
The WAVELET_SELF_ADDED event's JSON data doesn't seem to contain anything
related to this.
Use case: I'd like to surface a full list of tags - related waves , for
better navigation, browsing / wave discovery.

Thank you for your help, and great work!
