If I'm right, the BMW helmets were/are made by Schuberth. I use the Schuberth Concept, it is indeed a very nice helmet. Fits good when you are wearing glasses, and because of the internal sunscreen you don't need a pair of sun glasses anymore. The systems can be operated by one hand, the main screen can be placed about 4 millimetres forward to give more ventilation in the helmet. John Dreuning http://home.planet.nl/~dreuning [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Anton, you cannot buy BMW helmets in the US at all due to someone suing them years ago over one. You will have to order or pick up BMW helmets in Europe. The System 4 goes for US$580 in Spain when I was there a few weeks ago. Price varies greatly by exchange rate country to country for US$$$. Re: Fuel Light
First the light comes on now and then, when riding a few km more it stays on. The light comes on when the bike had used 14 to 15 liter ( 3.7 to 4 gallon). So there must be 5 to 6 liters left in the tank ( 1.3 to 1.6 gallon). the bike uses 1 liter for about 10 to 12 km (not too fast) riding, that's every 150 km (94 miles) looking for a gas station. I'm anxious to know how to cut that time consuming flap out of the tank. With 2.75 guilder for 1 liter gasoline (about USA $ 4.8 for 1 gallon ) the government is trying to reduce mine riding distance. Have someone experience with a solar powered GTS ? Re: Problem with my Gts-1000 93
The left fuse on the starter relay is a spare one. I have had a problem with the fuse connections and the other connections on the relay. Nothing was working except the alarm system (Datatool), but the alarm system refused to switch off when I wanted to (The alarm has his own fuse). So that was a lot of noise on the camping at night ;-) The main fuse wasn't broke. After cleaning all the connections everything works normal. Maybe your problem is that some connections are connect to each other that should not be connect to each other. Or a bad earth connection. On mine GTS the left fan gives more hot air at the fairing outlet than the right fan. So maybe the hot air is bouncing against te frame somewhere, the both sides of the bike are not identical. Re: Sudden buzz
The right bar-end weight of my GTS has fallen off. It makes some scratches on the sidecar because it was landed between the polyester sidecar and the front shock (which is at the right side, above the rear brake pedal on my bike). "The grove" is made of rubber, glued to the bar. May be you have to check that "rubber grove" now and then. John Dreuning GTS, with a short right bar /Mega Comete sidecar In the short run on my bars there is a grove in the bar ends that I have wrapped tightly with plain .020 dia. solder wire. It has made a detectable difference that now I know that something more needs to be done. If you fill this grove make sure you cover it with electrical tape or something to keep the wire from flying off.
Re: GTS with 3 wheels FLUFF
Wel Fred, I must be honest, I'm not that young but Yeah! the bike is a great toy. On the playground many solo drivers are wondering what's happening with there bikes as they found out I'm still at there back with that strange vehicle. BTW not only daddy's toy, my wife rides with the GTS also. And.believe me, my mom loves the rides in the sidecar, no matter the high speeding I often do. John, you have taken the title of youngest GTS rider away from Louis Tweed. Now I see that you had to add the sidecar because your feet don't touch the ground. Re: renting a bike in the USA
Maybe there is a market out there for selling beautiful GTS/Mega Comete sidecars with 330 liter luggage space without Krausers ;-)) Michel Martijn maybe there are trikes for rent in the US ? In Holland, Belgium, France and Germany sidecars are more common. I ride rally's with mental/fysical handicapped children in the sidecar to give them a nice day. The number of sidecars is then sometimes 200 in a row ! renting a bike in the USA
Hello Michel Martijn, I have posted this before, but I can't find it on the GTS-list. So I try again; Check out the insurance possibilities in the States for foreigners on bikes/sidecars. Not every insurance company would insure you or your bike ! Do you have any sidecar experience? It's not like driving a solo bike, it's more like F1- or cart-racing. In Holland there are special driving-schools to train your sidecar driving skills. BTW do you live in Holland or Belgium? I write much better in the Dutch language, so maybe I can give you some advice on the sidecar/kids thing in Dutch.
