I am not in the business of installing VistA, but if you are not contacted by
any vendors, please let me know. I would not like your request to drop
through the cracks when there are definitely people out there who can help
you but might not have read the mailing list.

  The utility that you are looking for is called
 expect and you should find it
  on the AIX box or the Linux box. It allows you to
 handle some scripting for
  FTP and telnet pretty well.

 I want to use this email to thank everyone for their
 help.

 I have been able to use
 #export DISPLAY=vt-100
 from the AIX command line. However, I have to log
 in as root to do
 this. I then don't know how to launch my EMR. It
 normally does this
 when I log in as a regular user. I guess I need to
 find the log on
 scripts to find out what is happening in that case.

 However, I am really having trouble with my emulator
 sending correct
 information when I press a F9 key etc.
 The display is fine, so I don't know if changing the
 environment
 variable DISPLAY will help or not.
 Besides, doesn't the server query the terminal at
 log-in to determine
 what kind of terminal it is?
 Wouldn't my terminal be answering VT100 (which
 TeraTerm is set to
 report)? So shouldn't this be automatic?

 So it looks like I have three approaches to consider
 (none of which is
 working yet) 1. Get AIX to work with my TeraTerm
 emulator.
 2. Get my TeraTerm emulator to act like an IBM3151
 (esp. the function
 keys) 3. Figure out how to do bash scripting from
 linux.

 Any other thoughts/suggestions will certainly be
 appreciated.

[Hardhats-members] CPRS screencam shown in Greenbelt...

2004-10-28 Thread Steve Wagner
After the CPRS demo, Joseph Dal Molin also showed a screencam
demonstrating the integration of imaging with CPRS.

This would be quite useful to us at U. of Washington for demoing to our
students.

In a search of the web, I located a Vista screencam at:
http://www.msystemsplus.com/vista.htm  (vintage 1997)
I think this may be the same screencam that Joseph ran.
Is there anything newer? Could this be posted to hardhats or
sourceforge?

Thanks,
Steve Wagner

This is one of the two screencams that has been around for a while. I
promised several people to post them on the WorldVistA sourceforge site
and will do that this afternoon. I am not aware of anything newer. What
would be nice to have would be similar screecams for other applications,
like registration, RIS etc. What would be great would be to have some
volunteers come forward to create them!

Will post a message when the files are on sourceforge.

 Interesting

 Does Q mean that the input transform process is
 simply quit, doing

 Could this input transform perhaps come from a

RE: [Hardhats-members] Linux console as terminal emulator, with s cripting?

2004-10-28 Thread Kevin Toppenberg
Todd and Bhaskar,

Thanks for the links.

My system administrator is me. Well, that's not
exactly true. We have a service agreement with
Medic/Mysis that is less than helpful.

For example, I asked if AIX could mount an NFS from
linux. Well I just don't know. I've never even seen
Linux. And that would be all with a GIU anyway,
wouldn't it?

I'm kind of scared about trying to install software on
the server because I won't know how to fix it if I
screw anything up. And its our mission-critical
hardware.

But if I can't find another solution, I may come back
to this.

Thanks again.
Kevin

p.s. I am assuming that this software would be on the
server, not on a remote client--right?

kt

[Hardhats-members] Trouble installing VPE

2004-10-28 Thread Kevin Toppenberg
At the World VistA conference, Norman Dodd helped me
install VPE on one of my machines. Now I'm hooked,
and want it on my other machine as well.

But I'm having trouble installing it. I need some
help.

Here is what I am getting:

[kdt0p];~/Downloads/VPEls
VPE_12_ReadMe.txt  VPE_12_Rtns.MGR  VPE_12_Rtns.PRD
VPE_72.pdf
[kdt0p];~/Downloads/VPEdos2unix VPE_12_Rtns.MGR
dos2unix: converting file VPE_12_Rtns.MGR to UNIX
format ...
[kdt0p];~/Downloads/VPEdos2unix VPE_12_Rtns.PRD
dos2unix: converting file VPE_12_Rtns.PRD to UNIX
format ...
[kdt0p];~/Downloads/VPEcd ..
[kdt0p];~/Downloadscd ..
[kdt0p];~sh runvista

Starting GT.M VistA
---
FYI, here are relevant defined variables:

gtm_dist=/usr/local/gtm
gtm_log=/usr/local/gtm/log
gtmgbldir=/home/kdt0p/OpenVista_UserData/g/mumps.gld
gtm_vista=/home/kdt0p/OpenVista_UserData
gtmroutines=/home/kdt0p/OpenVista_UserData/o(/home/kdt0p/OpenVista_UserData/r
/usr/local/gtm) /usr/local/gtm()
vista_home=vista_home

Entering GT.M system now...

GTMd ^%RI

Routine Input Utility - Converts RO file to *.m files.

Formfeed delimited No?
Input device: terminal:

Output directory : /usr/local/OpenVistA/r/

Routine: /home/kdt0p/Downloads/VPE/VPE_12_Rtns.MGR

Restored 0 lines in 0 routines.
GTM

Any ideas?

Thanks
Kevin
