Thanks for the input!

Sure, I'm already putting all the questions and ansers I understand
into the WIKI:
http://openforum.worldvista.org/~forum/index.php?title=User_talk:Zeno

I just put it in my User Talk section as I'm still working on it
(nothing final yet). Once I get the process and the feeling more
deeply than I could also build a separate FAQ.

I will keep posting the links to my questions and the great anwers I
get from this list.

Now for establishing yourself as a user, look at steps 49-77

So do ^XUP -- option EVE-user-add user

Then, on the user editing pages, set the access code

Re: [Hardhats-members] Access Code

2005-07-28 Thread Greg Woodhouse
Well...sort of. Access codes are kept secret (and obscured), too. The
idea is that when you set up a new account, there is an access code
that the user will need to log in. But when they log in, they also must
define a verify code. That way, knowledge of the access code won't be
enough to provide anothe person with access to the account. It's just
an extra measure of security.

 Zeno,

You should establish a user for yourself. That user
will have an access code and verify code (same as a
 login and password combo).

 So do ^XUP -- option EVE-user-add user

Then, on the user editing pages, set the access code
 to your choice of words.

Then, next time you d ^XUP, you can use your new
 access code.

Re: [Hardhats-members] Access Code

2005-07-28 Thread Kevin Toppenberg
Vista is the only application that I can remember
where the login (i.e. access code) is hidden. I
found this different that users were used to, so in my
site I actually unhid this in CPRS. It will be a
little less secure, but perhaps it will prevent
everyone from writting their codes on sticky notes and
attaching them to monitors.

I think nowadays the compromises in physical security ( i.e.: post it
notes on the monitor ) are less of an exposure than the
electronic compromises.

in other words, A STRONG password written on the monitor is better than a weak one in the database.

Don't let the auditors hear me say that...

Re: [Hardhats-members] ACCESS CODE issues

2005-04-11 Thread Kevin Toppenberg
Perhaps you are confusing two access codes.

First, there is the access code and verify codes
that are like a login/password combo. And then there
is the fileman access code (the @).

It looks to me like you need to set the former.

I'm having trouble logging in as systems manager

(Note old ACCES CODE DOESN'T WORK EITHER) I'm able
 to reset the
access code by doing the following:

 S DUZ=9
 S $P(^VA(200,DUZ,0),^,4)=@
 D ^XUP

 Select OPTION NAME: XUSERED
 Select NEW PERSON NAME: MANAGER

 Change the access code
 Save changes

 restart a new terminal

 D ^%CD
 Namespace: VISTA

 D ^ZU
 (NEW) ACCESS CODE (FAILS)

 ANY SUGGESTIONS

 Thanks,
