Re: [H] Small Office Solutions
Are tape drives out of the question? How about Nero to a DVD burner? If they make a NAS that does this I haven't seen it. Seems redundant though, just burn to a DVD or no? small business server? [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello all, I have a side job for a doctors office near where I live. She just moved to a new office and I set up her computer for her in the new space along with a new one that she purchased. The new office is wired for ethernet and she is thinking about getting DSL when it becomes available (probably end of this month). One of her computers is pretty much a workstation/server. This houses data for her patient scheduling, insurance information etc. The other computer can connect to this information and also does her billing. I just wanted to give the groups opinion on a couple of things. 1) What would you all recommend for a EASY and reliable backup system? I am thinking some sort of NAS but I also want to be able to burn this info to DVD or CD every week or so. The people in this office are not very computer savy. Do they make a NAS that can burn to CD or DVD directly? 2) What should I do about user accounts and access rights? I am used to working in a domain environment where users can be added and this is globally available. I don't want to have to visit both computers (probably 3 soon) to change a user name or password. I would like to make this very easy but somewhat secure. I have one open share right and some printers but I want to lock this down soon. I got her up and running ASAP and will clean up once I get some soft of plan in place. TIA, Rob -- Cheers, joeuser (still looking for the 'any' key)

Re: [H] drive question/ Tim/update
When I run the xp repair console and fixmbr it will boot and run but back to not booting again on reboot. scanned for virus, none found scanned for spyware, some found, nothing serious. did find a leaking cap on the MB. at this point I do not know if it is the drive or the mb ( Tim ) I happen to have a exact model in stock and will attempt booting to it. wd diagnostics still say not a wd drive. WD says this is usually a jumper problem, tried all there with no luck. I wonder if a reformat may fix this ? Hay Gang, I'm looking for a Asus T2P4, PI 233MHz. Someone has one out there on a shelf somewhere, please, give it a good home with me. Most any board of the generation will work, and the T2P4 has a place in my heart. If someone has a board/cpu/memory( and maybe vid card) of this generation, please let me buy it from you. The reason for a board of this age is to run 64HDD: http://www.64hdd.com/index_en.html thanks in advance, Al P.S I did search eBay...
