[H] Subtitle issue

2006-07-30 Thread Brian Weeden

I am using Zoomplayer to play an avi movie along with a separate
subtitle file. The movie is in two parts. The first one is fine but
the second the subtitles are off by a second or so. Is there a
program that I can use to shift all of the subtitles in the 2nd file
by a certain amount?

I think I can do it using Virtual Dub but the video is really well
encoded and I don't want to re-encode it again and risk screwing it
up.

[H] BUG, NERO 6 ?

2006-07-30 Thread FORC5
whenever I burn a iso image to disk the last page will not close ( the one with
done on it ) image burns fine.

Kind of thinking of upping to 7 but not sure this will solve anything or if
this is even a nero bug

[H] 3550a firmware update ?

2006-07-30 Thread FORC5
new fw for my burner but the instructions are weird:
never had to do any of this b4
currently too much trouble

Pls note following instructions for update procedure:

Connect drive to secondary IDE channel as Master

Disconnect all slave hardware from IDE secondary Master

Use standard UDMA-2 IDE cable

Update in Windows "Safe Mode"

Update without DMA mode, under Windows XP & 2000 in the device manager - "IDE
ATA/ ATAPI controllers", you can switch from DMA to PIO mode

Disconnect all external USB/ FireWire devices.

Deactivate virusscanners, active desktop programs and packetwriting agents

I've found Nero to be extremely buggy. Also, the interface
is user hostile.

Unless you need some of the recent features, you may want
to stick with version 5.5.10.42. I've found it to be
the least buggy and least user hostile.

Re: [H] BUG, NERO 6 ?

Then again 5.5 doesn't do dual layer dvd, dvdvr, dvd multimenu, UDF dvd,
bootable dvd, bootmenu pulls, etc.

There are things I don't care about in v7, but I've tried the competition and
keep coming back :)

[H] Monitoring what program is accessing the internet

2006-07-30 Thread Thane Sherrington
I've noticed from time to time my little network icon is lit up as if
I'm download and/or uploading. Is there a program that will monitor
what programs are accessing the network interface, but not block the program?

The netstat command is what you want. You can download a podcast that
explains how to use it here:

http://www.grc.com/SecurityNow.htm#49

Also, any good firewall program (like Kerio) will show you the same
thing. The advantage is that Netstat is free with every copy of
Windows.

You can also grab a GUI for Netstat from here:

http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/TcpView.html

Very cool. Thanks, that appears to be just what I was looking for.

One more thing - if you are worried about rootkits and such, they
won't necessarily show up on netstat as they are probably invisible to
Windows. The only way to see those would be to view the traffic on
your network using Ethereal or something similar from another machine
on the LAN.

Tou can get dual support with any card with dual dvi. Etc. Now matrox's
solution is more 'slick' then ati or nvidias but their solutions work fun

Distribution points do have. The moment the 5000+ dropped to about 300 it
became the in demand item. But they are hard to get. Not quite as hard to get
as an e6600 or 6700, but difficult :)
