[H] Surfing the web on a TV?
With all of the new stuff coming to market these days, what is the best way to have a real web surfing experience on a TV that doesn't have that built in? I'd rather have a simple device to provide this functionality has I already have most other bases covered. So simple and inexpensive is good. I assume one would need some kind of keyboard. Obviously, one option is an iPad type device, which I am considering as well. I've been trying to wait in the second version of iPad or an Android based slate device.

How would you surf on a TV with an iPad? Personally at home I just have a cheapo dell hooked up with DVI to my TV. I watch Netflix/Hulu/DVDs/etc, web browse, and can play games. Re: [H] Surfing the web on a TV?
No, the iPad would be an alternative to surfing on the TV. But if I could do that on the TV (using the TV as the monitor) and check email, stuff like that, then I don't need an iPad. Or similar. I guess something like a Mac Mini (the new one) might work, but I've never really used one of those. I could build a small box PC, but most PCs are so geeky looking. It would work upstairs, though, but I want something that blends well downstairs. That Mac Mini is white, I think, which sort of messes up the look. Re: [H] Surfing the web on a TV?
I actually just got a mac mini (the new model) about a month ago. Haven't used it a ton, but it's nice. It has 1 HDMI output and 1 mini-display port outut (and comes with a HDMI - DVI adapter). Get a wireless keyboard and mouse (I don't particularly like the apple ones, but they're ok) and it's a slick little system. It's silver/metallic not white in the latest edition. It's tiny! Bad thing is, no Bluray if that matters to you, slow hard disk in by default. OTOH, I also like the iPad... Scott On Sep 16, 2010, at 11:00 AM, Anthony Q. [H] ThunderBird Question?
I am converting from xDSL to Fiber Optic Service. Both are active ATM, but I am not using the FIOS link for email. ATM, I have a Bellsouth (ATT) acct and a FIOS acct in my TB left pane. About 22SEP10 the xDSL service (ATT) should go dark. Please tell me that I can simply delete the Bellsouth (ATT) acct in TB and NOT delete any/all of the past email (in my Local Folders) via this email channel? Should I move all the contents of the Bellsouth (ATT) inbox to the new FIOS inbox to keep it active in the future? Thanks, Duncan
Re: [H] My new site.
Design wise not bad, get ready for the FBI/CIA to monitor it though :) On Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 11:03:49PM +0300, Naushad Zulfiqar wrote: Hey. Just started www.middle-east-expats.com Check it out and let me know what you think of the site. Thanks. -- Bryan G. Seitz
Re: [H] My new site.
Thanks for the feedback. The CIA/FBI/NSA/Homeland Security can monitor all they want, I'm one of the good guys and nothing worries me about that side. [H] Outlook 2007 export
I know there are serious Outlook users on the list. I have a friends PC with a lot of data in their Outlook 2007 program. They have a new PC with Office 2007 so they want to export from the old, and import to the new. A data check shows they have have a business contact folder, two personal folders, and a email folder. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? Is there any freeware that will make this easy? Also once I do this can I import all the Outlook email to their GMAIL account? Thanks

Re: [H] Outlook 2007 export
Is it really that easy? Doesn't it have to be imported, and syncd in the registry or some other encrypted file? [H] replacing a laptop LCD
Today, somebody gave me their old laptop. Actually, it is not very old at all, it was purchased new in 09 a little over a year ago. It is a HPG70-463CL which is laptop with a 17 inch screen designed to be parked. The had it on the floor while moving their furniture and stepped on the LCD which pretty much killed it. The computer itself works fine plugged into a an external monitor. I see where I could buy a new screen for around 120-150 but how difficult is it to replace? Anybody recommend where to buy a screen, and any tips of replacing this one ... thanks.

Re: [H] New Intel SSD tool out.
If you have Windows 7 then no need for the tool I think. Re: [H] New Intel SSD tool out.
Hmm.. Good point... I dual boot XP and 7 off my Intel 160, I never installed the Intel tools on the 7 boot partition since I figgered it already has Trim built in. I guess I should install the new tools on Win 7 too and see if it offers optimization tips like it does for XP... Cheers..
