Re: [H] Windows 7 Firewall
I definitely 2nd that opinion. I hate all the 'false positive' warning pop-ups you get from the third party security programs. Gary VanderMolen, Microsoft MVP (Mail) -- From: "Brian Weeden" MSE has two big features that are important to me: free and lightweight/unobtrusive.
Re: [H] Windows 7 Firewall
Free and unobtrusive yes but the game plan is to try to take market share and then start charging for it. Still while it's free and works well I'll use it. On 1/5/2010 2:40 PM, Anthony A. I don't even patch unless I am effected directly with the issue. I do my service packs though. Been fine for years. What's my secret? I will not use Microsoft for email or web and I am behind a router. I know people say 'omg you don't do what you are supposed to - run this security suite and patch everyday or you will get viruses'. Guess what. I'm clean and doing fine. Can everyone run like this? Maybe not but I am sure the more savvy users here can. Re: [H] Windows 7 Firewall
On the computer where my data is I do use AV, Spy and Mall ware and some sort of software firewall to warn me about out go. But on the rest of my PCs I run clean .. just what the OS has, because they have special purpose and I don't do anything dangerous with them, in fact I rarely use a web browser... if something does goes wrong I just restore the image file. On my laptop I run a lot of stuff from a VM through a VPN and start over every day. At 09:58 AM 1/5/2010, you wrote: In recent years I've pretty much stopped using any 3rd party security software.
