[ha-Safran] Announcing the Donna and Richard Harris Jewish Libraries, Archives, and Collections Around the World Portal

2022-04-11 Thread AJL PR via Hasafran
Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to announce that with the generous funding of the Harris
Family Private Foundation, our Donna and Richard Harris Jewish Libraries,
Archives, and Collections Around the World portal is online and ready for you
to explore. You can find this exciting new page on our AJL website at
https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://jewishlibraries.org/jewish-libraries-around-the-world/__;!!KGKeukY!mr4B2x3umcHSuLlGtTeEIGWR_C2732D-haNwGhSNtIBA5zSdAsqAYmUvLio7wm-csjGcjlqWdW5mOsA$

.

In addition to conveying our gratitude to the Harris Family Private Foundation
for their support, I also want to thank these seven institutions and their
library professionals—all AJL members—who saw the importance of this project
and volunteered to be the first to join our effort:
Berman Upper Midwest Jewish Archives, University of Minnesota Libraries,
Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kate Dietrick
Ets Haim, Livraria Montezinos, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Heide Warncke
Feldman Children’s Library, Congregation B’nai Israel, Boca Raton, Florida,
Heidi Rabinowitz
Joseph and Mae Gray Cultural & Learning Center, North Suburban Synagogue Beth
El, Highland Park, Illinois, Rachel Kamin and Marcie Eskin
Jewish Collections at the Filson Historical Society, Louisville, Kentucky,
Abigail Glogower, PhD
Macks Center for Jewish Education Library and Resource Center, Baltimore,
Maryland, Jessica Fink and Sonia Kozlovsky
Ostrow Library, American Jewish University, Los Angeles, California, Jackie
Ben-Efraim
Hundreds of impressive Jewish libraries, collections, and archives can be found
at colleges, universities, day schools, community centers, and synagogues
around the world. All contain remarkable Judaica consisting of rare books,
unique book collections, ephemera, beautiful art, and much more. Until now,
however, there has been no central location where an interested person could
learn about and explore the breadth, depth, beauty, and history of these
institutions. We are thrilled to be the home for this extraordinary array of
Jewish knowledge.

The Donna and Richard Harris Jewish Libraries, Archives, and Collections Around
the World site is a searchable portal featuring beautifully designed pages with
high-quality photographs, professionally edited video tours, and thoughtfully
interspersed informational text showcasing each library or collection. It is
prominently featured on our newly designed AJL website and can be viewed by
anyone interested in Judaica librarianship.

Because every AJL member and their institution is eligible to participate in
this important project at no charge, we invite you to join us. You provide the
materials, and we work with you to design a page that highlights the unique
aspects of your collection. We will also ensure your page is frequently
updated. Please contact Jerry Krautman, ajldevelopmentconsult...@gmail.com
, to learn more about this exciting
partnership.

L’Shalom,

Kathy Bloomfield
AJL President
