-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I don't think Valve supports vehicles in HL2DM maps. Any maps or scripts that make use of vehicles are likely to be "buggy" and you probably shouldn't expect any problems with vehicles to be fixed. [hlds] Airboats and Jeeps Problem
This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I am surprised that no one has mentioned this before but, starting with an update a couple of months back, any map containing airboats or jeeps has developed a very strange, irritating quirk in HL2DM: Every time a player gets into an airboat or car, every player is immediately rotated 90 degrees to the right. This is regardless of what the player is doing including standing still, walking, running, jumping or falling in regular gravity and in low gravity as well. Imagine lining up an enemy in your sights who has been moving around a lot and finally stood still for 3 seconds and then WHAM --- BAMMM you are suddenly twisted 90 degrees to your right and you end up shooting nothing! Very irritating. None of the subsequent fixes have alleviated this problem and no others seem to have acknowledged it other than some fellow server administrators who are experiencing the same problem. We have had to resort to not running maps with cars and/or jeeps or, in my case, totally removing cars and jeeps by deleting their scripts. This makes for a pretty boring airboatsv10 map and totally ruins WackyRaces for me. Can anyone else acknowledge that they are seeing this problem? Can Valve acknowledge that the problem exists and tell us if they will fix it? Or is there already a fix or workaround? -- ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds

Re: [hlds] Server hosting
I'm going back a while but that option in steam where it asks you what your internet connection is is best set to your upload speed. That setting is used when pinging the servers around you to ensure that not too many are pingged at the same time if your connection cannot handle it. What happens however is that most people set it to 2MB+ when (certainly in the UK) their upload speed is more likely to be 256K. Therefore too many servers get pinged and the reply back takes longer than it would if that server would have been pinged individually. So what I suggest is to put that setting down to 256K and then let the server browser fill up. On 03/10/06, Jason O. You'll find 15 replies of 'I think servers4u will be perfect for what you are asking for, thanks [EMAIL PROTECTED]' I found my original host by opening up steam, selecting the right upload speed and then let it find servers. The ones constantly at the top were the ones I wanted to go with. I chose my current server however on the fact that the support was so amazing that it was worth an extra 10% ping. [hlds] Server hosting
Guys I was considering renting a couple more 32 player DOD 1.3 servers. What I was wondering is who has the best deals out there right now and also the different prices everyone is paying for them monthly. Thanks, Jason -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of LDuke Sent: Monday, October 02, 2006 1:36 PM To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [hlds] Remove Player Limits -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] You don't need to decompile the map to add spawn points. You can add entities to a map file, and only the server needs to have the changes. The map version won't differ. I used that method to add a chicken model, feathers, and sound to cs_italy with no problems.
