RE: [hlds] Is it worth playing anymore?

2007-04-10 Thread Chris Barnett
It's not a good idea to install any hacks on your PC no matter how
honourable the experimentyou can never tell if you got rid of them or
not...so it's too big a gamble the next time you connect to a VAC secured
server...

I can detect an aimbot with 100 % accuracy in any hl1 mod, With a plugin i
have running.
It's a simple cloaking plugin that makes you invisible to anything but a bot

If you use it make sure to remove the ident_icon above your head or your
teammates will give you away.
They also have an Admin_ESP plugin that lets you see were players are aiming
at with tracer beams.

Aimbots are almost never used in league though. It's the good player with a
simple ESP that you have to watch out for. I would highly recomend you go
to an insecure server and have a few really good hacks running play a few
rounds with your friends and try to conceil your hack as much as possible
then play a few rounds being totally blatent while recording demos.
Then put the demos up for review for all of your admins to learn how to
better detect hackers.

The biggest thing my clan/server has going for it, Is a very large admin
presence with veteran players of over 4 years of experience in pubs and
league play. there is no replacement for that.

There will always be hacks & hackers too use them and valve cannot do
anything to stop it EVER.

The problem we are facing more and more, is that it is becoming almost
impossible to distinguish between really good players and
hackers/cheaters.

Looking at the "features" of the MSX CSS hack, it is designed to be
undetected to the trained eye, meaning its potentially undetectable.

2 examples below:
* Aimbot. Has 2 settings - League and Rager. Use League for undetected
use, and Rager for all out headshots.
* Smooth Aiming - For when you dont want people to know your cheating

The full list is here:
http://www.msxsecurity.com/css.php

This will mean that there is a good chance decent/pro players will be
banned from public servers, as the admins won't know whether they are
cheating or not. The majority of aimbots and aimhacks out there snap
instantly to a persons head, and stay locked on. Looking at the demo
vids of this hack, it is quite fluid and smooth, and matches the
likeliness of what a real player would do with their aiming (i.e.-Never
100% accurate). A close friend of mine has been recently banned for
aimbotting even though he had a group of friends with him watching him
play - all knowing he doesn't hack. Because of his play style, it must
have looked like he was using some sort of hack, when clearly he wasn't.

It's situations like the above that will bring down the median skill
level of public server play, as all the good players will end up sooner
or later being banned for suspected hacking.

On a side note, does anyone know how this hack is initiated? Is it some
sort of game.dll hook or overlay-type app?

Will be interesting to see what Valve have in the works to prevent this
sort of hack.

Regards,
Adam.

RE: [hlds] Is it worth playing anymore?

2007-04-10 Thread FS
I think anyone who installs that piece de crap is foolish and will likely
get what they deserve - if not from this outfit, then from another. Take
the time to read their terms of service. Essentially, by installing the MSX
cheat app, you agree that they can have full and complete access to your PC
- back-doored through their software, I expect - and they are free to rape
and pillage your file system to their hearts content. AND - you pay them to
do it.

What cajones!

I really like this comment I saw on the website "Please note that by

RE: [hlds] Command line rcon for windows. (like ogsrcon)

2007-04-10 Thread FS
Hi Pawel...

I have uploaded the console application again to my web site - you can
download it from:

http://gearbox.oathill.com/cbb/files/16/ogswatcher/entry208.aspx

It's been a while since I have used this but it should work. Note, its
SRCDS only.

If my day job every relents, I hope to get some SOAP/XML web services
available for srcds and hlds that do rcon, query and other stuff.

Never enough time in the day - but I haven't given up.

Thanks but it's not really what I'm looking for I need a command line tool
to run commands remotely on my server. It can be a php or perl script too
but it must support rcon password ip,port and command execution as well for
HL2 based games.

* Smooth Aiming - For when you dont want people to know your cheating

The full list is here:

This will mean that there is a good chance decent/pro players will be
banned from public servers, as the admins won't know whether they are
cheating or not. The majority of aimbots and aimhacks out there snap
instantly to a persons head, and stay locked on. Looking at the demo
vids of this hack, it is quite fluid and smooth, and matches the
likeliness of what a real player would do with their aiming (i.e.-Never
100% accurate). A close friend of mine has been recently banned for
aimbotting even though he had a group of friends with him watching him

It's situations like the above that will bring down the median skill

On a side note, does anyone know how this hack is initiated? Is it some

Will be interesting to see what Valve have in the works to prevent this

You are right, some websites are hard to understand, I will help you with a
small guide:

1. Open your favorite internet browser and enter "www.youtube.com" in the
address field. Don't forget to hit enter.
2. Wait some time, you will see a page in less than a hour.
3. Try to understand how the webpage could work.
4. Remember, you want to "find" something, a good starter could be the
search box and the search button in the upper right corner of this website.
We will try...
5. Now we need some keywords to find what we are searching for. No, "britney
spears naked" are not good keywords in this case.
6. Remember, the previous guy wrote something about "msx" and maybe also
something about "hack".
7. Now enter "msx hack" into the search box and hit the search button.
8. After some time (less than a hour), you will see a new page with video
results displayed in the middle of website.
9. We are very close! Just click onto one of these big underlined video
names.
10. If you did step 9 right, a new website will be displayed after some time
(less than a hour).
11. A video should start automaticly after the page is displayed, if not
click on the picture in the middle of the website. That's it.
12. To view other videos, just use the go back function of your browser.

I know, youtube has many possibilities to click, but if you follow this
guide, I am sure everyone is able to find the videos.

Best regards

That's why I didn't include a link in my original email

But typing msxsecurity into the youtube search box was beyond some people,
and being as I was asked too, I then included them.
This is also a server admin list and all server admins should be aware of
such things.

The msx site makes me really sad as a player. Undetectable and even a status
link on the main page to let you know that they are still undetectable and a
guarantee that if they become detectable - they will provide you with a new
hack asap

Is it really worth practicing and getting your skill level up / and then
seeing how good you are online with this sort of crap about?
Why bother...

Spotta

And I still think a reply from Valve about what they are doing to stop this
crap is in order.

The problem I am having is a cheat site as set there eyes on my
servers. They come in then all of a sudden you try to ban them and you
ban another admin instead they change there names and steam addresses.
Most of there steam ids start with 777 or 77 and I ban them and they
come right back. I ban there ip's and they are back again not sure
what to do

It should be pretty easy to tell. If his view snaps onto an enemy's head or

best evidence is to observe for a while.

WOW so it is really that easy, why did you hold out on telling us until now?

You are right, some websites are hard to understand, I will help you with a
small guide:

1. Open your favorite internet browser and enter "www.youtube.com" in the

Ronny

The average IQ is defined by the test you take, and so is the standard
deviation of the test, they normalize the score when someone takes it to
show how many standard deviations from the mean IQ (usually 100) they are.

Eh, we're all idiots in some respect. Even the smartest men or women on the
planet can't possibly know everything, and I'm sure even Albert Einstein
himself fell for some scams in his time. We've all been screwed before, but
we learn from our mistakes (well, at least some of us do ;) ) so we do get
better...slowly...but then of course more people are being born every
second, so I guess that lowers it. I'd be interested to see what the average
IQ of the world is. That would be a very interesting statistic.

How do we server admins do our jobs when it comes to hacks?
I have at least one regular player on my server that people are
complaining about.
How can I tell if he's just really good or if he's using an aimbot?
I running a HL2DM server.

Re: [hlds] Is it worth playing anymore?

2007-04-10 Thread Ronny Schedel

Ronny

Eh, we're all idiots in some respect. Even the smartest men or women on the
planet can't possibly know everything, and I'm sure even Albert Einstein
himself fell for some scams in his time. We've all been screwed before, but
we learn from our mistakes (well, at least some of us do ;) ) so we do get
better...slowly...but then of course more people are being born every
second, so I guess that lowers it. I'd be interested to see what the average
IQ of the world is. That would be a very interesting statistic.

You can never make a system idiot proof. They will merely build a better
idiot! :)

Why people STILL give out their info even when told NOT to is beyond me.
If someone messaged you & told you to rob someone & they had used a
familiar
name, would you?

It is a phishing expidition, and I fell for it via the person claiming

to

be
a Valve admin. Never again.

I got the request about a month ago followed by a phishing attempt.

They

purported to be from Valve and wanted to confirm my password. I asked

them

for their STEAM_ID so I could report them to Valve.

I just googled "steam id exploit" and found several references to

this

type

of exploit from back in 2004. Perhaps it's back again? If you dig

deep

enough you will find a few discussions on how they can be STEAM_ID

Pending

for awhile, and then basically manufacture a new ID on the fly.

Anyways, good luck with this. Thankfully we've yet to see it hit

our

Garry's

Mod servers. *Crosses fingers*

Anyone know of an exploit for source that allows you to come in as
other
users/ips/steamids?

This makes it pretty impossibly to ban him and all you end up doing

is

banning another person.

This a new nasty im not aware of any way to combat that?

Heres his psychostats sheet (a lot of the ips on there belong to

people

that

were playing at the time as did the steamids and names heh)
