Makes sense to me, IIRC CS:S is being ported to the newer source engine,
so no need to make an incremental update, given it'll have those

The fact u cant change the ingame nick in tf2 and it uses the friends
nick = fail imo.

what if u play for several clans and dont want to tag up in your friends
list?
what if u want to take a funny nick?

besides that, the friends-tag ingame dont work at all, shows random
players as friends.

and if u change your nick via console, it switches back everytime u
change server / mapchange.

and what if u dont want to use friends at all?

imo the system used in earlier games is way better.

 It also crashes on mapchange.

Makes sense to me, IIRC CS:S is being ported to the newer source

 engine,

so no need to make an incremental update, given it'll have those
 features soon enough anyway.

Whereas CS 1.6 isn't gonna be updated massively engine wise, so

 they

might as well bring a few bits up to date.

There is a Counter-Strike 1.6 Beta available to all existing
Counter-Strike owners. The dedicated server beta is available

 when you

run hldsupdatetool using cstrike_beta. The focus of this beta

 is on

the dedicated server component, in particular the Linux piece.

 Here

 are

 the specific changes:

Integrated Steam Community features into Counter-Strike
 - In-game player name now automatically uses player's Steam

 Community

 name
 - Avatars are displayed on the scoreboard)

 Other fixes
 - Prevented some cvar exploits (thanks to AnAkIn for pointing

 them

 out)

You also do know that you can change your name through the community

setinfo name name. Works like a champ. Only catch is you have to use
it after each mapchange or rejoin, but you can still change your name
 in-game.

The fact u cant change the ingame nick in tf2 and it uses the friends
 nick = fail imo.

what if u play for several clans and dont want to tag up in your friends
 list?
what if u want to take a funny nick?

besides that, the friends-tag ingame dont work at all, shows random
 players as friends.

and if u change your nick via console, it switches back everytime u
 change server / mapchange.

and what if u dont want to use friends at all?

imo the system used in earlier games is way better.
