Re: [hlds] fast dl abuse
If it's an apache webserver, you can use an htaccess file to limit referers. I'll post mine when I get home. [hlds] TF2 Event Log
Is there documentation anywhere that outlines the in-game events (change class, player kills player, suicide, etc) and defines how they are logged in the event log (via UDP)? I'm looking to parse the log and would like to be as accurate as possible. Re: [hlds] TF2 Stats Service
Right .. I like the idea of having a centralized database, like hlstatsx, but use it for what it's worth .. I would go a lot heavier on cross-server statistics. I think not having the ability to track a players' stats across servers is a loss. But also give a lot more raw data to the users (that might be a premium option?) like xml feeds and a full API, depending on what the system ends up doing. This is the kind of stuff I'm looking at. If collecting data and building simplistic stats is free, would server admins contribute their data? I think PS and hlstats are good products .. but I think they could do better. Re: [hlds] TF2 Stats Service
I have a few ideas that would 1-up those two, but my point was to get more ideas. I've used hlstatsx for a while and have found a few things I've wanted that would be very useful, but they lacked. I'm sure others have had the same with other functionality. Those are what I'm asking for. It's all to gauge what's wanted, and it's important to get as much of those now because they could alter the application's design. If I'm alone in wanting more from those services, then this whole thing is simply academic. Re: [hlds] TF2 Stats Service
Thanks, but I was a little more interested in getting input from people, not just copying existing sites' ideas. [hlds] TF2 Stats Service
Hey everybody, I apologize if this isn't an appropriate place to ask this, but I've been toying with creating a unified stats service for TF2 (and possible more Source games, depending on my response). I already have an application written that is collecting log file information (everything I think I need to generate stats data) and it's been running on my clan's server. I would like to know if there is any real interest in *another* stats service? Even if it's made to be free? Does anyone have any input as to things that people are looking for above the hum-drum stats? Would any of you be interested in allowing me to collect data from your servers (I wouldn't need access, just a simple config change)? If this isn't the best place to ask these questions, please help me out and tell me where might be. Thanks!
