Use a password generator for strong passwords.

Search for PC Tools Password Utilities in your favorite search website for
example-

I'm using passwords with puncation, mixed case. non-repeating chars, numbers
with 8 to 32
chars.

If you can't memorise the passwords, youse the old method, biro/pencil a sheet
of paper! ;)

Sorry but could you elaborate on this? I don't fully understand. Do you mean
setting the rcon in the command line like +rcon xxx and not in server.cfg?

You add the password to the startup parameters for RCON and that replaces

Hi ics!

I don't know if you have really heard about that issue, but a player who needs
2 days+ to
download a map, uses a modem from the 1850's or is a bug in any kind.

Maybe you use a diffrent configuration.
Just give us a try and post your specs please.

[hlds] DoD:S Induvidual Class restrictions for each Map or a particular one

Hi!

Does anyone know a sourcemod plugin or can give me a link to a tutorial for
creating class
restrictions on DoD:S?

Doe example if avalanche is loaded, MG class is set to zero, on Donner it's set
to 1.

Would glad to get some hints.

[hlds] [DOD:S] Unpure warning by a single map?

2009-05-13 Thread Hyphon
Hi!

Got a strange problem...

We had this issue with dod_strand (custom map, 2 or 3 sources, we downloaded
from), that
clients get unpure message by downloading custom maps and standard maps...

We use a gameserver (NO ROOT) with our fast download space at our homepage (an
other
server).

We can't find out whats the problem is... If we delete the map from fast
download and
gameserver, the problem is solved with unpure.

Can anyone give me a hint, whats wrong and probably solve that issue?

[hlds] L4D server get down on direct connect in survival mode

2009-04-28 Thread Hyphon
Hi!

I have a problem with our L4D dedicated server. It crashes everytime when I
connect to
lighthouse in survival mode.

I do the settings in HLSW (map, gamemode) and the connect via L4D mainscreen
entry
(server is assigned Aas groupserver).

When I connect, seems to load then I fall back to the mainmenu...

HLSW shows me a server down, Issue is known since today. All other modes seem
running
fine...

Server is running, metamod:Source, sourcemod, HlstatsX Plugin... (All in actual
versions...)

Nice idea with that steamgroup string!

But I'm with voogru, Server should be added in the steamgroup admin panel.

Just change the entry in the admin panel, tell our players to join our group and
all is going just well! :)

A better option would be to have the administrator add his servers onto his

a different color to make them more visible. Another change I'd like to see,
is change the get server list function to retrieve servers from your
groups, and then from the master list.

Group servers show up on top of the rest of the servers.

This is pretty much the only implementation I would support. I would be
strongly against sv_steamgroup in its current form being ported to TF2
because the last thing I want is some schmuck running servers that are
masquerading as my servers.

wouldn't the post you responded to fix that problem? A groupID would have to

Adding servers via the group settings would also be a great fix.

before this happens i would like to see a fix or a way to block servers
from using your steam group on their servers. as it is now its not hard
to get another groups steam group id and put it on there servers
allowing it will show up in your group listing of servers. I personally
would have no problems with having to add servers manually to the steam
group in the group settings page.

It'd be really nice if this sv_steamgroup idea was implemented for
other games. For example, Community XYZ has 10 TF2 servers. Player Bob
has fallen in love with their Instant Respawn server and wants to add
all of their servers to his favorites. He right mouse clicks his
favorite list, clicks the Add Steamgroup option, and types Community
XYZ, which is a special unique tag for this community only. From now
on, all of Community XYZ's servers will show up on Player Bob's
favorites. When a new server is added to Community XYZ, it'll
  automatically show up.

  Thoughts?
