Good idea. Don't clutter the list with nonsense. If you have any questions
for me or whatever just post in my forum or send me an email off-list.

RE: [hlds] Player Limit Remover plugin

2007-10-02 Thread Tony Paloma
Please email me off-list or visit the forums for support questions so to not
clutter the list. However, since you have already asked here, I will go
ahead and answer.

If you are using linux, place the .so file in your srcds/orangebox/bin
directory. If on Windows, place the .dll file in the same place. You place
the vdf file in the srcds/orangebox/tf/addons directory (create the addons
directory if it isn't present). Name the vdf file plr.vdf (it doesn't
actually matter as long as it ends in .vdf). The vdf file should contain the
same thing in both Windows and Linux. The contents should be exactly these
four lines:
"Plugin"
{
"file"  "plr"
}

It works the same as any other plugin. Visit
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Server_Plugins#Running_a_Plugin for
more information about running a plugin.

I can't seem to get the limit remover to work on Linux. Have you confermed
yourself that your Linux build is working correctly?

If yes, can you tell me the content of your vdf file, its location, and the
so location.

Cheers,

I made a plugin (even works with TF2) to remove the player limit. You can
download the plugin here:
http://www.sourceop.com/modules.php?name=Downloads

&d_op=viewdownload&cid=4

Hopefully this will stop people from having to edit the server dll.

Go for it. In the meantime would you like to play on my 150 man dustbowl
server?

http://www.theqclan.com/upload/150mandustbowl.jpg

Removing the player limit and having a stable playable server are two
different things ;) There's a reason that there's no server out there with
more than 32 slots for DoD, and why no TF2 servers are running more than
32
slots.

According to Game-Monitor there are a lot of 32 player servers.
Not sure how they're doing it, could be this monitor plugin, not sure.

RE: [hlds] Player Limit Remover plugin

2007-09-30 Thread Tony Paloma
It removes any limit that the mod has. I never actually tested for stability
past 32 players. The server will allow you to set up to 128, but because of
the way players are handled in the server and engine code, it doesn't mean
it will work.

I'm sure that the TF2 one is working because my server is 28/28 right now.

I didn't make it 32 or more because it seems like too much of a frag fest.

The modified server dll that one or more of you are finding has the same
effect as this plugin. I made this plugin to avoid having to modify your
server dll since an update will kill it.

I am working on a linux version. I was going to release it last night, but I
didn't actually test it.

run more.

I tried both versions, TF2 one seems to work fine, but in DoD:S first person
to join crashes the server, I would imagine this is due to a conflict with
another plugin we run (Detox, Steambans, Mani, Mattie, Es Tools,
PsychoReader) - not had a chance to test it properly yet though.

Hmm I did it slightly differently but then I followed the method I used in
dods

Create a folder in orangebox/tf called addons then into orangebox/tf/addons
place the plr.dll and a plr.vdf file which you make in notepad that looks
like this

"Plugin"
{
"file"  "../tf/addons/plr"
}

Restart server remembering to change the +maxplayers and voila, we now have
a 64 slot DoDS server and a 36 slot TF2.

Awesome work Tony, thank you

RE: [hlds] Player Limit Remover plugin

2007-09-30 Thread Tony Paloma
I updated the DLL. There was a problem with the new TF2 interfaces. It's
available from the same place:
http://www.sourceop.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=4

Get the new 1.1 one for TF2.

Well it shows 40 or 32 slots but no one can connect to it.. They timeout
during sending client info.

The Server also shows timeouts using HLSW while players are connecting.

Any thoughts?

Does the vdf still go in the addons folder?

Thanks..

For the easiest install, just put it in orangebox\bin folder. Then make
a vdf that contains:
"Plugin"
{
"file"  "plr"
}

Besides the vdf file is there anything else needed to run this?

The path is weird for tf2, do I include orangebox in the path for tf2?

I am trying to make our TF2 server 32 slots..

Any help is greatly appreciated.. If I get this working I'll post back
to the list to let the others know it works...

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I made a plugin (even
works with TF2) to remove the player limit. You can download the plugin

RE: [hlds] Player Limit Remover plugin

2007-09-30 Thread Tony Paloma
After you put the dll in orangebox\bin you have to make a vdf file. See:
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Server_Plugins#Running_a_Plugin

Make the contents of the vdf file the following:
"Plugin"
{
"file"  "plr"
}

Hello,

So I just stick this in the directory as the server.dll, restart the server
and hey presto!

Thanks!
