Firstly can I commend Mani for what he provided in the early years of admin and games plugins, we have used all of the known mani/beetles/SM but we had issues with mani that eventually forced us to put all eggs in one basket and go with SM. Mani at the end of the day is for some and not others and visa versa for SM & Beetles. With that said we are happy with the diversity of SM and will stay using SM for the see able future. And with that Simiancage commends all coders that have progressed gaming & Admining what it is today. And for those of us who wrote their own plugins, we have helped Mani and SourceMod become better via sharing. I know Mani and the SourceMM group shared a lot in the past. In the end, choice is important. These tools help server operators keep their servers running. Some can add fun to the game, but in the end, if it doesn't help groups/clans/individuals operate their servers, it won't get used. The main reason I don't touch Mani was because of lack of updates and originally lack of orangebox support. Once SM started to support orangebox, there was no point in going to Mani. I did use BM for a while and liked it... but it's a relatively simple system but he gave lots of support and updates. Sorry for the terrible phrasing, the only downside to SourceMod is the lack of menu scaling. Besides that, it's 100% open source (I know Mani is, however it is no where near as modular or customizable) and it's simplistic to add features yourself. XFactorServers was doing some website moving. We are back up and running. As far as "noobish", well to each their own. Mani did a great job for a long time keeping his plugin going with little or no contributions. SourceMod has a great team of developers behind them, so of course their stuff is of course up to date and more diverse. We now have a team in place and are moving forward on the next MAP. Will it be better than some options of SourceMod? Dunno. But it will give people a choice, and in the end that's best IMO. Doing some digging it looks like the nameservers (ns1/ns2.xfactorservers.com) are failing right now, even though their site is up, but of course, their site use ns1-ns4.firehost.com. So, if I had to give you a reason their site was down, xfactor server's nameservers are failing right now. What? Sourcemod is a million times more intuitive and easier to manage. I literally cannot think of one reason to use mani, especially with the various issues it has just from being so goddamn outdated. Also, there's definitely a way to port over your funcommands plugin. Plus one of my coders made some modifications to funmenu. Hopefully we can dump it (mani) on the plain server, but Hosties uses some parts of mani to do it's work.
