Right now my server has 17 of 16 players connected. I find this a little odd.

RE: [hlds_linux] Server / glibc?? problem

2005-05-13 Thread Alfred Reynolds
This release didn't update that binary. The release a couple weeks ago
didn't (but it was optional), did you not upgrade until now? I suspect
that you need to install some more 32-bit support libraries (anyone
using FC2 on the x64? I haven't tried it out yet)

[hlds_linux] Server / glibc?? problem

2005-05-13 Thread Michael Madsen
Hi

After the latest update my CS:Source servers has stopped working (have been
working since CSS was released). The error I get is the well known
"steamclient.dll not found, server communication disabled." error, which could
be fixed by upgrading to Glibc version >2.3.2, but I'm running Fedora Core 2
(x86_64) which uses Glibc 2.3.3 which should be sufficient to run srcds.

Anyone know what could be wrong then or anyone having the same problems? Alfred?
I know that this is this release as the servers have been running for months
without any problems.

Thanks,
Michael

But I'm still not sure why I'm getting the following error, these seem to
be client connections, but I agree some have strange reverse names, so

Take a look at the Version 1.0.0.41, there is no update!!!
Use this one: ftp://ftp.hlsw.org/HLSW/alpha/hlsw_1_0_0_42_setup.exe
This one Works fine :)

latest available version is 1.0.0.41, the same I have and still don't work.
So am = I outdated or WTF? Anyway it doesn't seem to be my fault :p

Stress less guys ...the update has been out 6 minutes...give the guys at

don't even know theres a protocol change yet :-)

Update HLSW! There was a query protocol change...

[from alfred]
- Disable old style (non-challenged) server queries by default (use the
sv_enableoldqueries cvar to change this behavior)

You really DON'T want to enable this however, check with your tool
vendor for an update.

Update HLSW! There was a query protocol change...

[from alfred]
- Disable old style (non-challenged) server queries by default (use the
sv_enableoldqueries cvar to change this behavior)

You really DON'T want to enable this however, check with your tool
vendor for an update.

As many as you want, I know what I'm doing...
If I use HLSW autoupdater I got "No updates available" with either "beta" or
"release" version set in the configuration. If I visit the homepage, latest
available version is 1.0.0.41, the same I have and still don't work. So am I
outdated or WTF? Anyway it doesn't seem to be my fault :p

I'm sure it'll be updated in short order. No need to get all worried
because it doesn't work the instant an update is released. I'm sure
you'll live. ;)

Update HLSW! There was a query protocol change...

[from alfred]
- Disable old style (non-challenged) server queries by default (use the
sv_enableoldqueries cvar to change this behavior)

You really DON'T want to enable this however, check with your tool
vendor for an update.

Gues it was the right option then, and hopefully to have an update
laters .. just be sure that de_inferno is not exploitable, like
de_dust_pcg has been (before re-release), climbing onto roofs and such
sh*t. ;)

Otherwise, nice work done Alfred.

So long,

You really DON'T want to enable this however, check with your tool
vendor for an update.
Why not?

"Grates/chain link fences no longer affect bullets"

I am wondering about the new map.cfg files.
Would it be possible to remove certain enteties from the map, specifically
barrels and those small bottle crates that can get in the way. Aztec
suffers badly from barrels in T side Bridge Room and Dust2 also on the
risers at both A and B bombsites.

Can I ask if those lag comp changes will affect players who run with
"cl_lagcompensation 0" and "cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 0"

Sorry if these questions have already been asked as i am viewing my email
via webmail and its slow and clunky.

Best Regards

Richy

- Disable old style (non-challenged) server queries by default (use the
sv_enableoldqueries cvar to change this behavior)

You really DON'T want to enable this however, check with your tool
vendor for an update.

It does default to including both :) But if they use older versions of
the tools, or explicitly exclude it (to cut down on size) then there is
a problem.

I run into this problem with maps when I unzip using the -a (autoconvert to
Unix-style text files) because it thinks the .wad files are text..so it
converts them and causes no end of segfaults.

Whats the console show as the segfault happens? May times this
happens
it's the map calling a file with an UPPERCASE letter in it. You
could
copy that file to the CaSe that satisfies the server.

linux map versions require some different data, and it just requires
that the mapper uses the correct compile options so that the data
exists for both windows and linux in the same map file. Not sure why
it wouldn't just default to having both. *shrug*

[hlds_linux] Counter-Strike: Source Update

2005-05-13 Thread Alfred Reynolds
We have released an update to Counter-Strike: Source and the Source
engine. Run the hldsupdatetool to get this update.

This update adds two new maps to the Counter-Strike: Source stable, an
old classic de_inferno and new one called de_port. It also fixes a
couple bugs in the lag compensation code (i.e hitboxes).

Full details can be read here:
