Re: [hlds_linux] Counter-Strike: Source update released + Custom maps

A little additional Info:
If you use custom maps, delete the external nav's for them. Otherwise, they
will crash the server, if there are any players.
This was you can get most of the custom maps to work.
This fix only works for custom maps, wich has external nav files. Those, who
have internal bspzipped ones, still crash the server (if they do).
Dont forget to delete the nav files line, from the res file too, if there is
one.

Thanks,

I have simply turned off ALL plugins and mods for right now. hand
editing 2k plus custom map files just isn't time effective right now.
I'm glad 1.6 didn't get nuked that would be over 8500 map files to edit
for me..G

Re: [hlds_linux] Counter-Strike: Source update released + Custom maps

2006-08-25 Thread Regime
Making back-ups and reverting to old versions and such isn't very useful
when there is no backward compatibility in the client software.

Same story here by the way... All mods are switched off at the moment.
In my opinion (oh dear.. here we go) it's a shame major changes, that
could break mods, aren't communicated to the creators of the major CS:S
mods (mani, beetle, etc) before they are implemented. If that would be
done, they would be able to pre-release versions of their mods, that are
compatible with the Valve releases and it would save many of us
headache's trying to explain to the players on the servers (and in the
case of GSP's to the customers) why their favorite mods aren't working.
Giving some 'recognition' in that way to mods that run on a very large
percentage of the source based servers, would be a thing beneficial to
all parties involved (including Valve).

Well, I can tell you I'm getting some crap right now from customers who are
having trouble with their mods. Let's just hope the mod makers put out an
update which fixes these issues soon...otherwise I'm going to be losing some
customers.

Re: [hlds_linux] Counter-Strike: Source update released + Custom maps

2006-08-25 Thread Matt Albiniak

Our GSP automatically renamed the /addons folder, disabling it for all
customers. May not be the best solution, but the servers are stable at
that point.

Since this is a custom map topic, I've found the following maps to be
incompatible with the update:
de_strike_betafinal
de_russka
de_ contra

de_cpl_mill and de_cpl_fire are compatible.

You guys really have 2k maps in your maplist.txt file? You must buy
Asprin in bulk.
