[hlds_linux] server locked up on startup

2006-12-16 Thread Airwalk
Anyone else having a problem I got server in different location that can't
startup because the console just locks up on it. Is this a problem with
steam because of this?

Valve is having a major issue with Steam. No one is able to log on, and the
forum/support section of the site is overwhelmed.

There is no official message when the system might resume service again. The
service disruption is probably related to the power outage in the
Northwestern region in the US (and Canada). The power outage was brought on
by a winter storm http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16215340/.

tried to install it to a new directory. When I tried to install it, it

up with this

The same thing happens when I supply parameters. I am using Vector

Is there anything I can do?

[hlds_linux] some steam servers offline?

2006-12-16 Thread Marcel
hi

I just noticed that srcds and hlds servers are freezing on startup.
They seem to startup normally but you can't type anything into console
and the server is offline.

The hldsupdatetool says Failed to find Master AuthenticationServer
when I'm trying to start an update (to check the server verify_all).

VAC is also disabled on every gameserver.
I verified it by searchning for secure servers and only found 2493
gameserver with vac enabled, which aren't very much I think (checked
with steam server browser).

Any useful information would be appreciated.

[hlds_linux] Steam down

2006-12-16 Thread Svensk Ljud Ljus Produktion

Hi !

We have a steam timeout or something over here in europe, and its have been
like this now for 3,5 hours or more !

I made a search how many servers were populated and come to 53
dayofdefeat:source servers with 2 - 32 players, and thats all dod:s servers,
not only europe.
So I guess its affects almost all of us !

If the hosting company I using does this to me, then I get money back !

What will steam do for us now then they is making us unable to play our
games on our own servers ?

How will Valve react on this ?

Is Steam not responsible for theirs acts ?

You'll actually find that HLDS servers on Linux will start after around
10-15 minutes.

It appears to hang when it should have loaded up. Be patient, it's trying to
contact the master servers, but doesn't seam to be able too. It will time
out (after a huge amount of time) and use no masters.

Cheers,

Re: [hlds_linux] Guest Passes Beta Invitation

2006-12-16 Thread Craig Moore

As many of us are both server administrators and players, I don't see
myself promoting the game much with the way Valve currently develops
the game. Server administrators give a lot of input on bugs, features
they'd like, features they hate, and features they'd like to see and
Valve disregards all of the information and removes features, breaks
functions that admin plugins used, add something like dynamic weapon
pricing, guest passes, and many other things--all while there are
other things that the community would rather see, such as a 64-bit
binary with VAC2 and performance not degrading with every upgrade.
This looks like you're trying to ask for our help after giving us the
cold treatment. I can't say that everyone agrees with me, but I'm sure
many do. But this will obviously get the same attention our other
suggestions do. If my information is out-of-date and you have since
released a 64-bit binary or the development team has in any other way
started taking input from the community that runs the server, my
apologies for not reading the list for weeks.

[hlds_linux] [FIXED] Servers not starting

2006-12-16 Thread Xavier Kerestesy
[ Converted text/html to text/plain ]
I found a temporary fix to the issue of servers not starting. If you look at

Adding master server 207.173.177.11:27011
could not establish connection to Steam servers.

I have resolved this by adding -setmaster 69.28.151.162:27011 to the end of

remove this option. When sharing this information, please remember to give

[hlds_linux] Dynamicpricing down - servers wont start?

2006-12-16 Thread ics

Hi,

Recently i spotted one of the servers not responding. After a reboot,
server started but only for 2 seconds. At the moment i am writing this,
this page http://steampowered.com/stats/csmarket/
shows empty lists, no guns or prices. I noticed somewhere along server
starting lines error

ERROR: mp_dynamicpricing set to 1 but couldn't download the price list!

yet i have mp_dynamicpricing 0 on server.cfg and valve.rc so it doesnt
go on. Is it really necessary to fetch prices list from the dynamic
pricing server while server doesnt use it? Now it just
hangs, is running but no connections can be made and no one is able to play.

[hlds_linux] Valve or steam problem! server cannot start for several minutes

2006-12-16 Thread k-mystik

Hello,

Since early this morning, I had the following starting gameservers:
Connection to Steam servers successful (SU).
  VAC secure mode not available.

Now, server freeze at startup for several minutes, then show:
No masters loaded
Using default master
Connection to Steam servers successful (SU).
  VAC secure mode not available.

Is there a quickfix besides waiting for valve/steam to reboot their
servers? :-)

Thx!

Hi group and good morning,

i have a question to the developers of any of the blockers in subject as it
is for Valve,
Players in our community are asking me whole the time when the new blockers
will be released.
i see no move on Cvarblock for ESL as it is for others blockers
any news?
update?

Like everyone is cheating / rate hacking, players cant be hit when playing
wars
and there is no control except status to see what rates players have...

u see my point...

any news / response will be warmly accepted...

Des,
Dvs2

Re: [hlds_linux] Re: VAC problems?

2006-12-16 Thread Dave \M3PH\ Williams
my server has been up and running fine since just after 12am GMT.
Alfred, i know it's obvious but wouldn't it be any idea to sporadically
located the auth servers around the globe? then if you get this problem
again the network won't die. I thought this would have been an obvious
thing to do considering the nature of the steam network.

Someone should definitely be in the boss's office answering questions
and be worried for their jobs on this. Stupid and amateur mistake to
make to be fair.

I'll confirm that from my limited little world. My dedicated CS1.6
server has not been able to VAC secure since the issues with steam.
I restarted it twice, no effect. Admins have been busy :/

Nobody else has had any VAC problems

Oh well, must just be me then

Most of my servers seem to have stopped being VAC enabled

This is a lot of servers, so simply rebooting the servers is not an
option, especially when rebooting 1 or 2 does not seem to solve
 the problem.

RE: [hlds_linux] ticrate

2006-12-16 Thread Amit Gandelman
Anyone know if that works? OR maybe you have your own way of locking the
sys_ticrate command for hl1mods?

i am not too sure that specifying the ticrate in the command line locks
it... Try this :)

+sys_ticrate 200 +alias sys_ticrate wait

best regards
