I imagine something like HLStatsX, StatsMe or something of the like was
running as er the "customization parsing" of the player index.

Hello everyone,
I just compiled a new kernel and everything is better except for this
error:
NET_SendPacket ERROR: Invalid argument
Followind this error (a couple of them) the servers crashes. I
searched on forums but havent found a satisfying anwser.

I run on debian, kernel 2.6.27.9-686 compiled at 1000hz with a 100Mo
bandwith (I juste changed my switch, it's a cisco 48 port 3500 series)

Does anyone have an idea ?
Thanks for your time and have a great day ^^

[hlds_linux] CS 1.6 - How does "rcon stats" calculate the output?

2008-12-16 Thread Matthias Bleile
Hello there.

First of all, i love this mailinglist :D.

Second, please excuse my "i try my best"-english.

And third would be, i always wondered how "rcon stats" gets its output.
Im pretty sure it somehow connects to the /proc/$PID, but thats all i know.
Does someone have an precise idea on how it works?

Background is, im very very very close on holding the 1000FPS absolutely
100% stable with 10 clients playing, but every 10-20 minutes there is a
1second drop to 500FPS and that ruins all.

Its very important i can reconstruct this behavior but i'm simply missing
the basic knowledge of CS 1.6 Engine.
Im using jiffies as clocksource and i have to figure out how the cs1.6
engine calculates.

thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: [hlds_linux] Rcon password

2008-12-16 Thread Seather
also,

re: sv cheats comment
as i recall it was a command like ent_fire, this may have been fixed
by adding another restrictive flag to it,
if not, there are many command blocking plugins,
http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=73828

a plugin to listen for commands sent to the server
http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=75648

many people make use of a quick sv_cheats 1 then sv_cheats 0 method,
its feasible cheat program could sneak a command into this small
window.

if your do custom maps on your server, especially ones created by
people you know,
they might be setting your rcon password / etc, with a map entity,
point_servercommand,
grep -ai ,Command, *.bsp

Hi,

After reading up on the list yesterday I saw that there have been a couple
of threads regarding how to operate screen.

So yesterday evening I wrote down a simple guide on screen and included
multiuser support.

Re: [hlds_linux] no more then 29 servers?

2008-12-16 Thread Steve
Did you try "nohltv" on the startup line? I think remember Milton saying
the sourcetv ports would get in the way even if you didn't assign them.

Re: [hlds_linux] Rcon password

2008-12-16 Thread Didrole
It's possible on the old source engine but not in orangebox or l4d to
retrieve the password. (But you still can change it)

Hi,

I am using ports in 27xxx, 28xxx and 29xxx range.

I have yet to try to set the sourcetv port. I'll try that suggestion asap.

Cheers,

Milton Ngan has said before they run 40 servers on a single machine.
I'd try specifying ports for everything (even SourceTV, even if you
don't have it on) to make sure they're spread. Search the list from
last month, there's a post from Milton about ports.

Having sv_cheats 1 on an otherwise default setup will allow anyone
with the proper knowledge to change your rcon_password. I've heard
it's possible to retrieve rcon_password with sv_cheats 1, but I don't
know if that's true.

Hi,

After reading up on the list yesterday I saw that there have been a couple
of threads regarding how to operate screen.

So yesterday evening I wrote down a simple guide on screen and included
multiuser support.

[hlds_linux] no more then 29 servers?

2008-12-16 Thread Saint K.
Hi,

I am attempting to run 30 servers on one box, but its not working. If I go
beyond 29 times launching srcds_i486, the 30th won't be able to boot
claiming it cannot bind the ports. If I shut one server down, then its
having no issue's at all booting that server I attempted first. Anything
below 29 works, above won't start.

Setup: 5x TF2, 24x L4D in a fork

Any idea's why this is happening ?

Cheers,
